when cryptsy was being slow to release UNO, i pulled out a total of 3800 UNO in 4 999 lumps.

that was the exact time that uRan was diminshed and uCun appeared.

since then my hard drive has faultered and 90% of everything i own is now in jeopardy.

'Day 4 of chkdsk /r /f C: has stalled... disk is grinding & clicking ;(

i have a few UNO left on cryptsy along with a few other alts...

Cry Good luck recovering your wallet!

4 days of disc recovery and no backups? That doesn't sound good. I've had a few harddrives fail on me before, usually most data could be salvaged onto another drive (put old and new drive in another PC) and only parts were unrecoverable. Are you trying to recover the whole PC right now (stuck in bootup repair or something) or trying to rescue data from the drive mounted into another system?  If the damaged parts include OS files the system might not be able to boot, but you personal files might be okay and accessible if accessed externally.

I wish I could be of more help, but I haven't had HDD failures in a while (since moving to mostly SSDs now that I think about it, hmmm) so my knowledge is kinda rusty.

@ FK: IndiaMikeZulu has invested in GAW. We will stick with that experiment -- but we considered Genesis. It was a coin-toss. Well, if Uno becomes Genesis-able, we will put funds into it.

@ Hedges: some loony is offering a premium for Hedges.

@ GFC Stuff:

‘Mighty changes are again afoot in global currency markets. The effects are as yet unpredictable, but they are most unlikely to be benign.

Readers, we are presently [I opine] in the eye of the storm. Oil will go down. For various reasons -- but primarily because the global economy is slowing. Most readers here would agree that bullion will strengthen strongly as things go truly pear-shaped. But the cessation of QE in the US -- while the presses are running hot elsewhere -- is gonna draw funds to the $US. For a while.

Here's an interesting thread... https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9436120

Genesis Mining is adding Sha256 hash, and asking which coins they should support. Imagine being able to buy 100 or 200 ghs  (or however much you want to speand point it at Uno, without the need to heat up your house.  It would be an easy way to get into Uno mining without the need to buy the hardware. If you're interested, put in a good word for Uno on that thread. The discussion is going on right now.

Nice bit of theory, Bitcoin National. It's good to hear someone point out that cryptos came from grass roots (which is, as a theorist, the aspect that interests me most).

My laptop failed to boot yesterday and the experts are telling me I've gotta reformat the drive  Angry

but, thank my various gods, the bulk of my UNO is on paper and I had a recent backup of my hot wallet.  so, no UNO lost!!!

Unfortunately, I had about $100 USD worth of another coin that out of laziness or stupidity I did not back up Sad   Someone told me about something called "ontrack recovery" to recover corrupted data, but the software costs more than the value of the lost coin.

So I just thought I'd post as a warning to all those naive enough to keep all their UNO live with no backups:  you could lose it all just like that!

print paper wallets, and backup your encrypted vault onto 2 thumbdrives and a cloud service

Join The Blockchain Revolution In Logistics
The discussion in regard to cryptocurrencies had been dominated by only a few voices for so long it had become an echo chamber of confirmation bias.

Bitcoin became institutional so fast it left it’s grass root supporters – the ones that brought bitcoin to into reality – behind.

They allowed thieves, con-artist, and credit card industry plants to sit on the foundational board.

Alt's are open source tech.  Open to all who can code.

UN is open source.  A community that operates like a company.

The goals within the UN company are to help create a stable profitable platform from the altmarket.

An economy of any scale might/can/will be run using alt-tech.

Today over 1/4th of the total market in cryptocurrencies is in the altcoins. And that proves ALTs are money.

While die hard bitcoiners disagree, smaller coins are easier and more cost effective to implement.

You’re not subjected to the massive price manipulating of BTC whales present in the BTC market.

Few realize or refuse to grasp the fact that the BTC market was captured by very early adopters first, and second by slick well monied market manipulators.  The spike to +$1000/btc last year was manipulated by design and controlled by market entry/exit choke points.

The ALT market is a chance to reset the game.  And the first 100 coin communities that establish themselves as functional forms of capital and viable DACs will stand to change the financial landscape forever.

UN is the ground floor of the NEM ... the new economic movement ... built on the P2PFoundation ... you can watch or you can participate.

The choice is yours and it is an open invite to anyone on the planet with internet access.

in effect with this low inflation uno will always rise with exception of maybe shorter periods where an early investor liquidates more coins than would be in the timeframe demanded.

So uno has pretty, pretty good fundamentals.

Our only fear is a monstrous bubble that could crash later  Cheesy  I think other coins have worse problems  Tongue

... the slow rise is our friend btw.

With the continual failure of these exchanges, trading at UNO-Ex is always a safe bet. Certainly less liquid, but at least one has his / her coins in hand. It is disheartening to see the continual shystership in crypto...

I think that is another benefit of UNO which we should highlight more often. While I do not know anyone personally involved with UNO, the eithics and honesty of the group to this point, apparently speaks for itself. And, it speaks well!  Cool

lol. We don't need to scam because the coin is good   Wink

It'll continue to be demanded. Inflation is low enough so demand doesn't need to be high for a longterm investement to make sense. So since there is potential for almost unlimited growth in uno (as long as the community promotes it and cares for it) we can afford to be ethical. At least that's how i would look at it.

Coin and community fit each other. Fair coin makes a good community. Of course.

large premine/ico/ipo is always butthurt community somehow Cheesy

Just noticed something interesting.  Remember uRAN and how it disappeared off the rich list?  Then there was ucUN at the top, with fewer UNOs than uRAN had had.  Well today the word "Cryptsy" popped up right next to "ucUN...".

I notified Chainz that the wallet belonged to Cryptsy and they tagged it for us.

Yeah, that's interesting, the other thing is the wallet:

udYSEGNw...

I used to think that it was the Cryptsy hot wallet, but when there were huge withdrawals from Cryptsy, it had no movement whatsover, the withdrawals came out of the huge wallet.

I believe the withdrawer was @Edgar with 999.9 withdrawn. it was very tracable to the big wallet.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

cryptsy has that large coldwallet and their hotwallet with each transaction migrates as a whole. So let's say you withdraw 100 from their hotwallet and 600 would be in it, they would send 100 to you and 500 to an entirely new wallet.

At least it is the proof they are actually having a coldstorage (other than mintpal)

I think they let people deposit to other wallets and use those coins before touching on the hotwallet but i am not sure about that. But if you look long enough around the chain i am sure you can find out the inner workings of cryptsy  Smiley

At least we know they are likely not fractional reserve with uno

next summer we party in here price parity with bitcoin  Wink

Bitcoin keeps going down, uno keeps going up. Let's see how fast until they meet first in price, then in marketcap.
Uno is pretty much the only altcoin that is not scared of a bitcoin failing because the solution to it would be found here. If bitcoin fails, uno will not. Just look to the charts, proof is already there.

Take bitcoin chart and overlay with uno-chart if you don't believe me.

Uno is still very, very cheap.

once the penny drops for the bitcoiners that bitcoin fails because of the inflation, Uno is going to Pluto

Look at uno!
It has 11.000 adresses active on the chain. So far less than 11.000 people can uphold this coin and counter its inflation whereas millions of users with huge money can not counter the inflation of bitcoin. There is a huge difference.
Uno costs of running are on a sane level. Bitcoin is too expensive to run. Bitcoin is a miner-scam.
Make uno price higher to make the network more secure. Uno is the best coin in holding value. You can pump it to billions of marketcap, it will still hold the value. This coin can be pumped to the next galaxy and it will stabilze for any price. Make it 10k$ a coin, it will still be stable.
