Regarding bots: like several others have said, I'm not opposed to trading bots; but if some wealthy UNO enthusiast was blowing $300 a month on Cryptopia trading fees I would rather they use it to buy UNO  Tongue I can't really believe that someone would do that so (seemingly) unnecessarily, and that's what made me think initially that it was Cryptopia. I still don't know enough about it to be sure it wasn't Cryptopia, but I guess they were just in this thread saying it was a user so... *shrug*

Regarding wallet issues: If many people are experiencing issues getting the wallet to work then that should be #1 priority right now, as SirSmokesAlot said. Many people are not patient enough to go to the forum and fuss with this. Maybe next month a billionaire will take interest in UNO but quickly move on after the downloaded wallet couldn't connect!

I agree it would be nice if the .conf file automatically dlded, although it really is pretty easy and many many coins you end up having to do it.

Probably the easiest way is just to open your wallet Console, then type

addnode 5.9.93.107 add

You should be able to download a sample Unobtanium.conf file from this link:  http://unobtanium.uno/download/Unobtanium.conf.zip

I was able to download it.  I suggested editing the file and pasting these recent nodes to the bottom of it:

addnode=104.172.24.79

Okay, I have downloaded the conf file, and jemmied it correctly (?) into the appdata file. (When I try to download that file here -- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11422814 -- the file opens but doesn't download.)

It seems best that I not try to add the new set of addnodes: it's an added task.

And . . . the QT still doesn't work.

I know, it's a pain in the ass.

Alternatives include Cryptapus' Electrum, JSWallet, Co-Pay online wallet, or on Android - Coinomi, Uberpay, or the Unobtanium wallet.

I think that is the part he is trying to stress here. It shouldn't be a pain in the ass. It should be downloading the exe and running it. There is zero reason to not have this file created when running the executable. If other wallets are able to do it, why can't we? Well other than lack of ability. I can't do it, but maybe BW could, it seems like if you can create a coin, this should be cake. Even then it would be mucho easier for people to just modify.

When saving the file all you do is type unobtanium.conf as the file name and hit save. If done correctly then it should work. I think you might be over thinking and therefore over complicating things. Not sure but you might need to show file extensions for this to work. Otherwise you might be saving this as a document titled unobtanium.conf where the computer is seeing this as unobtanium.conf.txt instead of having the .conf work as a file extension.

Open a folder in windows, find the tools option up top, alt if you can't see it, click tools, folder options, second tab in the window that pops up "view" scroll down and make sure you don't hide file extensions. Yet again, a pain in the ass that could be avoided if the conf was just coded into the exe some how.

Of course it is nice to have all those other options but why not also make sure the classic options are as easy as can be.

@IMZ
1-open the appdata folder for uno
2-right click mouse
3-'NEW>' pick text file
4-copy the nodes from chainz website
5-save the file as unobtanium.conf

B.N., I came on to ask specifically how to 'save the file as unobtanium.conf.'

EDIT: Okay, I manage '1' and '2'. But when I right click, I find no ' 'NEW>' pick text file' to choose. I do find 'Add files to archive' and I managed to do that, to add a file to the appdata folder -- but I'd already done that before, by 'dragging' them in directly from my desktop. Then fired up the QT, but found no connections. That is why I assumed that the two forms of files that I 'dragged' into the appdata folder are the wrong format.

P.s.: that's an old file photo of me. I've had botox since then. Lookin' taut now!!

I'm struggling to set up a new Unobtanium wallet. I understand I need an 'Unobtanium.conf' file (that is, without the 'docx' at the end). Well, I could only manage an Unobtanium.conf file that isn't the usual type of file -- with the 'W' on it, and the prentendie lines -- but got one that's the 'plain' sheet of paper lookin' one (with the folded corner but no 'W' or lines acroos it).

What am I doing wrong?

I'm working from this text: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.11422814 It seems to say that I should be able to download a 'conf file' from Unobtanium.uno, but I can't find it there, which is why I'm trying to create my own.

Thanks in advance.

The botting just isn't in crypto, it's everywhere - all aspects of a person's life.

Sad, but privacy seems to be becoming a thing of the past and the sheep don't even care..

Lol awwweeesome!  Grin Cheesy Cheesy Smiley

I would say i agree with you here. Let them use bots, as long as it isn't the exchange doing the botting.

Regarding the Cryptsy coins...

How many UNO are up for auction with the rest of the Cryptsy coins?

What do you think is the most likely action the buyer of these coins will take?

I personally think that instead of quickly liquidating them, if the buyer is a serious cryptocoin trader, they'll probably try to maximize the value of the buy by attempting to corner markets and pump values where they can. I think it's likely that the UNO market could be targeted for revaluation. If something like this played out I imagine that it would be remembered as a historic move ala the original Wolong-driven run.

If they were paying 0.2% fees on that kind of volume wouldn't that be $400+ in fees for the ~7 weeks they've been doing this? Something doesn't add up to me. That would only make sense if that person has a large share of UNO & were trying to set up a long-term play. If they were just being overzealous, my advice would be to save those efforts for when UNO is actually at risk (like the Bittrex de-listing warnings that occur a few times a year). But also, if you are going to inject volume into the markets when things are quiet, know that it's not necessary to blast a firehose of fake volume. In regards to increasing volume the best move would probably be to keep legitimate orders on the books. Just put a buy order for 200 UNO at 0.00135 & a sell order at 0.00140. Maybe this person does that as well, I'm just saying that would actually contribute to the health of the markets while having the effect of increasing volume, just not as dramatically.

I can't argue with wanting to support UNO or UNO's image, and I can't argue with supporting Cryptopia through trade fees. But when Cryptopia is literally saying, "No, stop giving us so much money," it would probably be better to just spend that money on accumulating UNO. I suppose it would be nice to have unadulterated trade volume data for the record, but it hasn't bothered me much.

When you allow bots, and when you have a currency like UNO that trades again 300 other currencies, all kinds of interesting an arbitrage opportunities exist and can be created.
If you want to spur activity in the Cryptopia UNO/Alt markets, just post a higher buy bid for UNO in the bitcoin market.  That gets the bots working hard.

I get what Cryptopia is saying. But I could careless about what legit traders can do with bots. We're all working against each other anyway. It's only when exchanges get into the bot trading that I get really concerned.  MtGox had Markus and Willy.  Cryptsy had gawd knows how many bots working for Vern.   Its unfair to trade against exchange bots because they're always faster and cheaper than your bot. Other bots are fair game.

guys, i'm not feeling too great about this whole fake-volume-at-cryptopia thing.  i can't surmise any legitimate reason for why this is happening and any funny business at an exchange really puts me on high alert.

I agree lol, I've been trying to come to a conclusion on what type of reason one would have for doing that and wasting so much money, lol.

I've blocked that users api key (again) he was doing it to the UNO base markets a few weeks ago, was getting as high and 4000 UNO volume, LOL

Said he was worried about UNO getting delisted for low volume, I already told him that cant happen, but he seems determined.

Must say gonna miss the fees tho, LOL

If you spot this again just throw me a PM and I can investigate faster Smiley

Haha, Thank you for that but you really did not have to we understand your exchange survives off fees still a generous thing to do, thanks!

I still don't understand what his endgame was, LOL.

I don't understand half of what these traders do, I miss when we were just Pools, way less politics back then Smiley

I liked it. It made me happy.
If it's good for UNO and good for Cryptopia.... very difficult for me to say stop it.

Whoever that is that's doing it... #respect  You are Uno hardcore. Smiley

Although I agree and love to see that type of volume when it is obviously a single person/bot pumping the volume it turns people away from coins and makes them suspicious of what the dev is doing, most coins that do that are shitcoins i'd rather see real volume or at-least fake volume hidden well.

I think I counted 7 "pump" bots on UNO in total, I'll keep monitoring it, if anymore show up ill disable them

As long as the bots are not trading ONLY with themselves i think it would be ok to keep them as bots like BCN said are part of the future, just the bots that spam buy/sell to themselves and give coins a bad reputation are the ones that need taken care of. To see you guys put in this kind of effort against this practice which most exchanges will never do as they only care about money is beyond exemplary and hopefully one day you will bear some fruits from this labour. Smiley
