The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao
Hypothetically speaking... I don't like hardforking.
Hypothetically speaking... I hope we are at the code is as it will always be stage ... fixed in stone.

But if a soft option was presented and the miners/pools elected a new standard ... well that's fair and square.

Conceptually I like the ring of 300 years more than 100.  Legacy.  Our mark on the world of what we left behind for future generations.

--
Personally I'd rather throw in a POS (geared towards seednodes) vs. emission acceleration.  That would secure the network with certainty.

That said I still think the network is on track, I hear the IMZ call to react, the better effort is to constantly, day by day, increase the UNO base pair markets.

Sorry, FK & IMZ, but I have to agree with BN.

Changing shit up on a whim loses respect.  Just look at ETH.

Wait !

On the other hand; in 25 years time, if changes were limited to the early days, it might not look too bad?

Or, maybe the coin that learns to change and adapt while retaining value wins?

I don't know.  My crystal ball is broken.  It's definitely worth further discussion.

UNO is on the verge of its latest halvening. at block 900,000, and the current reward will be cut in half.

Hypothetically speaking...  what would you guys think if UNO's emission schedule was accelerated, say to 100 years, or 50 years, instead of 300 years?

Short term, it would increase payments to miners and encourage more hashing.  It would also increase inflation (although it would still remain very low).

[There are issues that I've longed hinted at, related to this, that we need to solve -- but they can be dealt with down the track.]

I'd opt in a moment to have inflation emission switched to a one-century schedule.

Why?

Firstly, I think that 'one century' and 'three centuries' both register as 'Wow! Long-term crypto!' to the denizens of Planet Krypto.

Secondly, and far more importantly, reflect on how fundamental changes on Planet Krypto have repeatedly given us license to act non-conservatively.

Yet . . . communities -- bloody thousands of communities -- have not reacted dynamically, but have chosen to go to the wall bleating 'Let's just wait! Our One Amazing Feature will secure our future. No effort required. Price low? Great buying opportunity!'

So, at this point? Heck, I'm ready to set fire to the barn!

Higher price of Uno will encourage more hashing power. Price is so low it sometimes make me feel like there's only few people in this crypto commodity.

I do have linux servers available to use; i just prefer windows. I will set up one of these for a 0.1 BTC bounty / year running costs. The SuperNode for UNO was paid for by IMZ and is now online for the 1 year he paid for Smiley

This electrum server will have a different  bounty address: 3PfqNBFFHK1jvixe94oi4SLEW2dit52L7F for an UNO ELECTRUM server. Address if people proceed with it would be unoelectrum.node-hosting.online.

I am also opening to doing a dedicated unotalk forum if anyone is interested in one of those, too.

if one can point me to the electrum server binaries for windows servers, i could host an electrum UNO server for a further 0.1 bounty/year. We already have an UNO supernode hosted by me as of today as well, so let me know if you want an electrum server too! That will have it's own node on a different server.

The source code is here:

https://github.com/cryptapus/electrum-server-uno

To be a public server, it will need to connect to freenode irc channel ##electrum-uno.

There is no available binary, it's python.

Recommended linux only, you're on your own with windows.

Node ready and online:  uno.node-hosting.online - 1 year. Renewal 27-01-2018

If we can compile a new GUI based UNO, we could add this as one of the hard coded seed nodes as all the seed nodes are dead in that release on unobtanium.uno, we want a few such nodes.

3HTGfJGJiaKYWRtVLH67EGHWBa9EGrPLph is the address, when we reach 0.1 BTC i will put up a supernode.

Just for namesake it might be fun to have a SUPERNODE!

...

?

Almost any full node that's on AWS or a high bandwidth net with ports open is technically a "supernode"...

If you have coin to throw around, I would suggest funding more electrum-uno servers considering there are only two and they are both mine (not on a "supernode" Smiley )

https://github.com/cryptapus/electrum-server-uno

Or any other infrastructure projects are probably better investments... my 0.00000002 UNO

I'm willing... just unable.
All of the nodes I am running are on Windows servers.

More than anything, so good to see development being discussed. I find Cryptapus's's argument sound (particularly as I wanna trial the android).

Meanwhile -- no muckin' around; gotta dig deep at this point -- the 0.1 is on its way to Jacob:

[And heck, my Sydney node renewal comes shortly.]

EDIT: busy busy today!! C-Cex just emailed me: 'gonna dangle you off a balcony 'til volume picks up' -- and the de-list date is just days away!

@jacobmayes94 perhaps you could kindly setup the SUPERNODE for 30-60 days with donate UNO/BTC option after that test period it is up to the community to maintain the 'pay go' balance.
{much like how chainz works, if the payment is simple and fast, if funding possible via UNO will likely always be funding Wink }

There is some discussion about UNO nodes. The network is strong. These are nodes sponsored by known community members.

I think there are others as well (I also run US nodes in California and Ohio on AWS).
