With the recent explosion in altcoins, the altcoin boards have become the most frustrating forums to read as they are loaded with nonsense speculation and buying "advice" that is more than likely fuelled by self interest.

If there were to be one thing I'd love to see added to the rules, it would be a policy of disclosure. That is, a moral obligation to state whether a coin that is referenced by a poster in a post is held by that person.

Of course it couldn't actually be policed, but people have a moral obligation to disclose their ramping and the forum has a moral obligation to help readers to discern between what is independent/thoughtful posting and what is self-serving blather.

thanks for the answer. now i wonder about the criteria for evilness. my IP was fine when i registered this account a few days ago, but when i registered a second account earlier today, this IP has become a bit evil Sad
Then accounts have been banned after you have registered the account or there's been massive account farming on that IP since you used it to register. If you are using a public VPN then the longer it's been up the more likely it is to have points of evil.

as we all know, when we register a new account, that new account sometimes are unable to post because her IP address is considered "evil".

is this evaluation of IP evilness done at registration time only, or everytime the user logs in? for example, suppose we get a clean IP (IP 1) and the new user can post. then later on the new user logs in from a known evil IP (IP 2). does this make the user unable to post again? or she will continue to be able to post no matter from which IP she logs on in the future?
The evualuation is done at registration.

The payment is just a one off fee at registration for users who create an account via an 'evil' IP. Once you pay it you are fully whitelisted and can post or log in from as many 'evil' IPs as you want without further penalisation.

Thank you for your answer. I haven't even thought about spamming people with PMs, but good to know I guess. Smiley
The main reason to use our friend for the announcement is that hero members give more confidence to other users.

Is it allowed to ask a full or hero member to post an announcement topic on our behalf from his account?  Huh
Should there be a disclaimer for doing so?
I know that ICOcountdown.com is doing this very often and it doesn't seem to be a problem, but we want to be sure.

It's allowed but you have to be careful not to spam people through the PM system with requests. If the person has shown an interest in the project then it should be OK.

Also, have a look at the Copper Membership as that allows posting images and removes the need to get a higher ranked account to post for you.

good evening, to post an announcement in the altcoins announcement section do you need to have a certain member ranking?
No but if the announcement thread that you'll be posting includes images, those would be turned to links (temporarily until your rank becomes Jr.).

You can get rid of this limitation by purchasing Copper Membership: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbies-can-now-pay-a-small-fee-to-enable-images-2385104

Good Evening. I am trying to Be able to understand the Bitcoin Forum. I was trying to reply on a Bounty Board. But it told me i was a newbie and had to be Imposter for trying to reply to Someone who is Higher Rank.
So is ok to reply on a thread. Even though i am a Newbie.  I am sorry to Disturb you. Just trying to get a better understanding of what i am allowed to do. Thanks

As far as I'm aware this imposter warning is only shown in PMs just as a precaution. It shouldn't show up when you post publicly unless you have screenshots to prove otherwise. So yes you should be allowed to reply to a thread providing it follows the rules in the op of this one.

Good day gentlemens! May somebody explain me how to classificatie post like this one - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26963608
According rules it is not looks like spam but to find some info you need to scroll many posts like this - its take a time. What is the crazy idea to reply your own reply every day for nothing. Wasting a time & nothing more. And now many bounty participants do like this just to increase activity.
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Yeah, it's silly and unnecessary. Not sure why but there's several users quoting all of their previous posts in there. Not sure whether it's a requirement or not but it shouldn't he allowed in my opinion.

i want to ask,
if my post is deleted continuously will i get banned??
is there a maximum post deleted ??

There's certainly a chance if you repeatedly break rules, but there's no number of posts deleted equals a ban rule. I'd suggest you read the rules and work out what you're doing wrong though to minimise the risk of any bans.

If anyone post more than 25+ Ann thread daily then bitcointalk will banned him???

If they're spammy/pointless posts then there's certainly a chance. Posting 'joined airdrop' or 'interesting project' etc are good ways to get yourself banned though.

You mean different thread or the same? If they different, then it's not against the rules.

I see too many questions regarding the ranking and activity and I was lurking myself a lot to find and understand how, so I made a Google Sheet table where you can calculate when you gonna rank-up, by entering your day of registration.

Hope that the moderators/admins can review it and probably add it to list here and if there are any comments, let me know.

If this is against any rules, please let me know, I will delete my comment.

Here is the link.

If this is not the solid rock rules, then where is the real list?
Could you please reference to it if available? and if none available, why not make this one the main rules for the forum? Smiley

This is the only list. There previously wasn't really a definitive list of rules and this one has evolved over time with staff and community input. The previous admin didn't seem to want to set rules in stone because people would then try find loopholes and bend them to get out of any action taken against them on technicalities, hence why we created this "unofficial" list. I agree we should probably remove the unofficial from the title though.
Is there a chance maybe one of the Forum moderator to take a look at the list and confirm it as the list of Rules?

hilariousetc is Global Moderator hilariousandco's 2nd account. So, there you have it.

This, and if you actually bother to read the first post of this thread you will see the list was created by mprep who is also a Global mod. Also, not sure why you think a thread would be stickied and not removed if it wasn't all legitimate  Roll Eyes.
You mean this post could change the name from "unofficial" to "official" ? if it's ok than why not change it Smiley this list should very very helpful for a lot of new members including myself Smiley
