Following the latest "ratimov's case"  may I propose the extra clause to the rules

"Text copied from Web page/s  must be taken  inside the quote tags linked  to the source/s and
total not more than X* percentages of the whole  post content counted in characters."

*-X is subject to discuss.

Regarding X, I would suggest  30%.

Completely disagree ...

Read my reply (if that doesn't get deleted also) to crackfoo. You NEED to show your appreciation of help, progress, work and intent, otherwise it is a moot cause. I am a CEO of a Company that makes sure that my employees, contractors and contributors are all shown the praise and recognition they deserve EVERY TIME.

These threads should be no different, especially when a huge amount of the contributions and progression is FREE of charge and on the contributors time and effort.

That is unfortunately the cold hard truth by all means. It's definitely a basic courtesy to thank someone for their hardwork and spamming up the forum is definitely not the way to do so. If you'd like, PM them or give them a merit to show them your appreciation.

Bitcointalk is a forum with a spamming problem. If we were to allow this, you'll just see spammers going around saying thanks to everything. I don't think this is a good precedent to set and that is the moderator's stance, like it or not. Also note that we're not banning you from saying thanks; you'll have to show your appreciation and add something to the discussion as well.

ok. could have simply said yes.

If just being courteous and thankful of someones work or fixed issues etc is deemed pointless not interesting, we're all doomed.
The fact is, it really isn't. It doesn't encourage discussion or contribute to the topic by saying your thanks. I would think that giving the post a merit would be more acceptable.

IMO, it's alright to thank someone if they've helped you once in a while but I think most would consider it as a spam if it's done regularly. You'll be surprised as to how spammers could utilise this to their advantage if they were allowed to do so (not implying that you are one).

Agreed ...

I have had multiple deletions of praise to other developers (including you crackfoo) in posts for the work they have done so far in the threads that 'belong' to me (loosely worded - Threads I started) and it looks like that you are simply ignoring the person who you attention these posts to. Rude by normal standards, but it seems to be standard by BitCoinTalk standards now. Rules change, and these changes are not for the better unfortunately.

I rarely type one word or even one sentence responses.

It does not seem to be very difficult to type an additional sentence or two in order to explain why you are responding or to say more than just "thank you."

A poster can type "thank you" for that, and by the way, I noticed x, y and z, and also blah, blah, blah...

In that regard, the post would go from low value to potentially adding a little bit of value and substance to other potential readers.  Has not been very difficult to accomplish such fleshed out ideas or even fleshed out "thank you(s)", in my experience.

In a world of peaches, don't ask for apple sauce
is it now an offence to be courteous in our own self-moderated threads?

Help me understand please, these were all deleted from my self-mod thread....

-img snip-
See rule 1:

Quote
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

Quote
1. Such posts as "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

You're free to be polite and thank other people in addition to providing something else of substance that would take the post out of the territory of "low value". Not sure why you mentioned the thread being self-moderated since that doesn't change the dynamic here. Self-moderation doesn't override or substitute the rules and standards according to which the forum is moderated by its staff - it's another layer of moderation where the user can also decide which posts can stay and which should be deleted (though he isn't bound by any rules or standards the forum staff are).

Hello! Can you be more specific? What do you mean by cryptocurrency account? If you mean to say bitcointalk forum account, then you're already managing one. Go back to page 1 of this thread and read the unofficial lists. All the basic information needed to manage your account properly are there.

hmph..
Would there be a way to make this sharing function very easy usable?

The easier, the more sharing, the more visibility, the more adoption?

Bitcointalk does not need this feature, if you try to check back on the privacy page, you will find information that Bitcointalk will not use third party services that have the potential to track user activity here. after all, if you really want to share, you can simply copy & paste the URL and share it where you need it as mentioned by SFR10.

to answer your post i dont find the fonction of copy the link of a post only copy the link of  a page some topic are longue than this why you don t find article or information as a bitcoin references
We already have such function:

Go to any post that you would like to share > Click on the post number [behind +Merit button] > You'll be given a unique link in the address bar of your browser > Copy and share that.

Alternative way:

Go to https://archive.fo/ > Copy the link of the page [from this forum] then paste it on the first empty field [red one] > Click "save" > Highlight the part that you would like to point as reference > Copy it's unique link from the address bar [top of that page].

i have a stupid suggestion i know 99 pour cent it will be no but let s try is it possible to have a share or copy link button behind quote button it can be helpful if we want to share some interesting post as a references in different other platform like facebook twitter telegram .......etc
The share link button won't be necessary, at least not on this current forum software. Since sharing and copying a link are almost the same thing for social media platforms.
You can still just manually copy a link to the post of the topic you want to share on other social media platforms and then post it there.
hey i think i know your pictures are you from Malaysian facebook group ?
to answer your post i dont find the fonction of copy the link of a post only copy the link of  a page some topic are longue than this why you don t find article or information as a bitcoin references you only find pr on social media and people can pay for pr manipulation these days i saw a ton of cointelegraph of who is satoshi for it s stupid question because the creator of the bitcoin wp want to keep he s information private and we must respect that but satoshi have his profile on the forum it will be good if we can shares some post as a references in social media platofrm bitcoin it s decentralized  no border currency than mass adoption and sharing information of this forum can be helpful because opinion are free to post so no pr manipulation

Just wanted to ask if this one is considered as referral post related and if might considered violation on forum rule number 4 cause he did not directly post a ref link instead he informed users of the code that needed to be input to get register but still as referral based.

~Snipped~
Ive reported it already but wanted to clarify about this. Thank you for any response from mods here.
Whether it is/was a string of numbers/letters or a direct referral link, I believe it falls under the same category [SPAM].
- Rule #4 states "referral code" which is exactly the case here.

In a world of peaches, don't ask for apple sauce
I was going over the rules and spotted something that needs just a tiny detail updated.

The Trust list is where you select the users whose feedback on other users you trust and how deep is this trust. You can either trust just their feedback (select the Trust depth as 0), theirs and their trusted users feedback (Trust depth 1), and so on (up until Trust depth 3). Trusted feedback will be counted when displayed as numbers to the left of a users post in trade boards such as Marketplace or Goods. If a you don't set up your own trust list, a default one is used (info on how it is generated can be found here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/defaulttrust-changes-5095156).

The max depth is 4, but I don't know if that was what you meant when you said "up until Trust depth 3."
IIRC max depth used to be 3. I guess theymos changed it recently. Thanks for the heads up, updated (adjusted other parts of the answer as well).
