it is an unofficial twitter with a grammatical error.  Who cares?  Go ahead and compile it on whatever you want.  How is this an issue?

Well there's a lot of misinformation around about VNL and I wanted this cleared up.  I didn't know whether it was true or not.  Turns out it's not.  Also it doesn't even seem that a gramatically-corrected version of the claim would be completely true, from what's been said in this thread.

Doesn't anyone know who runs the @vanillanewsbits twitter so we can get him to clean up these mistakes?  Often these kinds of news feeds for altcoins are ran by online friends of the dev or community leaders.

There are also some false claims such as their staking being more energy efficient, when it is an exact line for line clone of Peercoin, just rewritten in C++ 11.

Videlicet was referring at that time to the code that John Connor had uploaded to github.  John later revealed that it was 'fake' code designed to throw off haters or whatever.

So, videlicet was correct about the code that he saw.  But it turned out that it wasn't the actual code of the coin.  Just a trick to throw off haters/catch people out/waste the time of code reviewers.

No, john was referring to the zerotime test code and fake whitepaper for zerotime, not the committed code that has been open sourced and able to be compiled for some time.

why would a dev post a fake whitepaper / code? fudding his own project? its been bothering me since i read that.

If he's just one person, with the speed he pumps out lines of code, he's truly a genius in my opinion; but sometimes he does things I don't understand, like that.

I believe his reasoning was that he would get a lot of devs to attack him because of obvious flaws and then when the real paper and code were released, they'd have to really look into it.

hmmmm. well its his call, he is the dev, but seems foolish to post fake code, because then you have a 100% chance of bringing FUD to your doorstep.

This does not make any sense. After talking to John "Who says I am anonymous" Conner, I have sold. I went to trouble to get someone to code review, and there is fake code? It was embarrassing, and I don't even grasp why anyone would do that. This might be the most amazing coin ever, but with him being anon and not wanting anyone else on the team, and being manic depressive, or autistic, or something, it will make things very difficult. Maybe he is a true genius, but these are very bad decisions and they cast too much reasonable doubt about the project. Why would he get more attention after he wasted people's time? That isn't how the world works.

1. Early on you mentioned getting your friend to do a code review on Vanilla...(This was pre ZeroTime back then)
2. You mentioned that your friend looked over the code and could see NO reason why it wasn't original with all the detailed code
3. There was never an official report released by "your friend"
4. Where is there fake code? The ZeroTime branch on git is from like a month ago. We all knew that John was still working on it and uploading content.
5. Did your friend then look over neutered code on git without even talking to IRC crowd and John...lets just go blind on this...lol
6. The ZeroTime code is on testnet right now...and there is a bounty to prove a double-spend attack
7. John has 50,000 lines of ZeroTime code to upload and is currently doing so on git
8. Don't character attack people that you don't know...it's rude
9. I will continue to laugh at people like you who want to be crypto famous on twitter and facebook(barf) while standing on the skulls of others

fudders taken down, whats next?

on the verge of SkyNet ZeroTime release, price recovering from manipulation dump

all is looking well.

im really looking forward to hearing more information on the Dark++ framework. and more on the dark.io website owned by the dev, somethings brewing.

I think his concerns are legitimate.
John conner was called out by a reputable bitcointalk member for a questionable act.   Also everyone is curious about how zero time works.

If the test net finishes and zero time works without double spending the price is going to whiplash upwards, but if it is vapor ware then at least we were all warned.

But he showed a lot of so called experts were in fact scammy FUDers....you should be calling out them not a John Connor for exposing them....Personally I thought it was a great move. I would do something similar in his position if I had thought of it.

I dont think posting fake code / whitepaper could ever be a "great move" in any situation.

Cause you're just a forum poster who never worked on a project for months to see it attacked by people....like yourself.

Grow up...

I'm not attacking this project, you fool, so stop attacking me. I simply asked why the hell would a dev post bogus code and whitepapers and bring fud to his own project? I've yet to hear an answer that is rooted in reality, thats all.  This is my last post on this subject, if you still feel the need to insult me, pls do so on PM

Bangomatic, it`s time that you dump vnl and that you come back to your favorite sdc which is a shit coin by the way!

Q

Can we stop spamming the thread after 3 pages on a non-official ad I made for VNL?

It wasn't even RT-d by John or anything. It had bad phrasing on 1 single point.

I just stated the error, then was asked for explanation, and had to reply.
If people wouldn't take every critic as an attack, it would have ended in a single post.

an android phone is just a linux computer.
you can compile any coin that you can compile on, for example, an ubuntu pc and have all the features.
provided you have enough storage space for the blockchain, that is.

This is too simplistic. The kernel is a Linux machine, but it's not true that anything that runs on Ubuntu would run on Android. Besides, there are important constraints in mobile devices, like battery life.

I was just saying that VNL can't claim "we are the only coin that can be compiled on android"
Where is that said and how is it exactly posed so that I can have an opinion? Just want to read the exact phrase to have an honest and fair opinion.

here:

https://twitter.com/vanillanewsbits/status/612402595714498561

Wondering about this.

What makes this coin more amenable to being compiled on various platforms compared to other coins?

Is there a compiler for iOS already?

Should the graphic instead say "compiled to run on any platform"?

No other coin can be compiled on Android or iOS.

What does this mean for you?  It means you can copy your wallet.dat from your iOS device or Android device and use it with your desktop client.

The iOS wallet is used by a number of people and it's on Apple TestFlight.

If you want to use the iOS wallet, just hop on IRC and ask xcore or tom_ewok for an invitation.

Just realised ETH has 3500BTC volume on polo. Haha no wonder there is no excitement anywhere else. Shitty gains for that kind of vol too.

First time seeing over 3000btc vol at polo.

4000 yesterday.

Got no problem with that, if you read what John stated about the amount of code that ZT will bring you would be calm Smiley

He stated that it will change most of the already published source and that it will work on the protocol level.
