Pope Francis’ US appearances leave Christians wanting more … mentions of Jesus

Posted at 6:44 pm on September 26, 2015 by Twitchy Staff | 53 Comments

Pope Francis has finished speaking at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, and those who made note that the Pope made no mention whatsoever of Jesus during his address to Congress earlier this week aren’t likely to be satisfied by his speech in Pennsylvania.

As The Federalist reported, Pope Francis did cover quite a bit of ground in his speech to Congress:

During his remarks, which were regularly interrupted by rounds of applause from the assembled lawmakers, Pope Francis condemned the death penalty, called for better environmental stewardship, and even talked about the ills of political polarization. He did not, however, mention Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection form the very foundation of the Christian faith.

The Federalist wasn’t the only one to notice. The Pope certainly wasn’t obligated to mention Jesus, but a lot of people expected some mention during his visit to the United States.

Still waiting for the Pope to talk about Jesus or even mention his name in any of his speeches. Not even at ground zero! #PopeatUN

They misunderstood, it is all a mistake.

I´m not an expert by any means, but I think that it´s a very reasonable assumption that since the guy managed to go through several speeches in the U.S. without mentioning the rock on which Christianity is based, he isn´t really a Christian at all.

COINCIDENCE? Ford Cancels U.S. Plant Move To Mexico After Trump Declares THIS HUGE Threat To Outsourcing

Can it be that “The Donald” is already affecting American policy, without even yet being the Republican nominee?

It sure looks that way, or perhaps it’s just coincidence. However more likely than not, Trump’s constant bashing of Ford moving to Mexico, has apparently been making ripples both within the news media and perhaps among the voting public.

In that there’s something about shinning the light of publicity that has perhaps made those Ford executives a bit uncomfortable, you know like being exposed and naked.

Whatever it is, it seems that a switch has been suddenly turned on and thanks to perhaps “The Donald’s” constant public drumming, the issue of American companies bailing out of the U.S. seems to have caused some long needed reflection on what is happening to America’s industries.

“Astoundingly” Ford’s announcement of outsourcing jobs to Mexico has caused the auto manufacture to suddenly reverse itself and bring the $2,000,000,000 plant back to the United States.

Moreover by moving its facility, originally slated for Mexico, back to the United States, where it will employ 1,000 factory workers in struggling Youngstown, Ohio.

Trump recently said that if he’s elected he would take steps to make it more expensive for manufacturers to shift work to Mexico and then export the items back to the United States.

“How does that help us?” Trump said about the Ford investment in Mexico while campaigning in Michigan this week. “Mexico is becoming the new China.”

Do you think Ford got Trump's message and is back tracking or is this just a convenient coincidence?

There is something strange. No way around it. You can´t be the most important religious leader in the world and visit The United States of America - and not mention Jesus Christ once in your speeches. At Congress, Independence Hall and Ground Zero. And elsewhere. There´s something terribly wrong with that picture.

We need to double check if he eats garlic with a complete silver table setting...

This is a great example of the power of the social- and alternative media. Those who follow only the garbage or worse still the garbage´s headlines and talking points only, don´t have a clue about things like this.

Don´t get me wrong; I don´t really give a flying eff about this but since this weirdo is so concerned about whether a candidate for the presidency of the United States is a CHRISTIAN you would expect him to mention CHRIST at least once in a speech before THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS

Not an expert and don´t follow this very closely, but isn´t it true that the Popes don´t mention Christ much or God for that matter. I guess Christians are pretty interested in Christ. The Popery and that priescraft seem to be much more interested in Mary and the saints. Don´t know about the Devil, they may be partial to that but it isn´t out in the open.

Don't know, suppose they talk about everything all the times and you just randomly heard about Mary more Wink

I doubt it.

Pope Francis Never Mentioned Jesus In His Speech To Congress

SEPTEMBER 24, 2015 By The Federalist Staff

Although he referenced multiple hot-button political issues in his speech to Congress, Pope Francis didn’t mention Jesus Christ even a single time.

The pope did not shy away from the Bible completely. Toward the beginning of his speech, Pope Francis discussed Moses, a pivotal figure in both the Christian and Jewish faiths.

“Yours is a walk which makes me reflect in two ways on the figure of Moses,” he said. “On the one hand, the patriarch and lawgiver of the people of Israel symbolizes the need of people to keep alive their sense of unity by means of just legislation. On the other, the figure of Moses leads us directly to God and thus, to the threshold of dignity of the human being.”

Pope Francis obliquely referenced the Gospel later in his speech, citing the “Golden Rule” found in multiple New Testament books of the Bible.

“Let us remember the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” he said. “The golden rule also reminds us of our responsibility to protect and defend human life at every stage of its development.”

Come on Wil, don't make us do all the work!

What's this about?

What does "up like Trump" mean for the Donald?

What's your opinion?

People are starving for somebody who tells them how it is, who is not afraid to speak up.

You need to watch the whole video. It is entertaining, funny and sometime very sad. Win or lose he will not have to owe any promises to any lobbyists as he is self financing his campaign. He can spend 1B easy, if he sees the thirst for him is still there in the up coming months...

"Up like Trump" is something the donald is well aware of, as much as he was when loving/fighting/loving mac miller and his beat https://soundcloud.com/livepittsburgh/mac-miller-donald-trump
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74TFS8r_SMI

Trump is now up. That was the perfect title for this thread. I do care about a good title thread if you've noticed...
