Using social media to get the attention of our friends about Bitcoin is a good idea but it depends on the type of friends that you have. If majority of your friends are not open to new things and like to use the mainstream then theres a low chance that your post will be noticed. But if you have friends who are open to ideas and open to risks then post away and you'll see a lot of curious query in your mailbox.
That's why you have to at least try to do it, if you never do it then you wouldn't know whether some of your friends are interested or not. It's not about what type of friends do you have, it's about you trying out to let them be interested with it.
Cool story bro. I'm thinking doing the same thing with my Facebook friends as well. There is no harm in trying. I already posted some before in my Facebook account, but I didn't get any response. Maybe this is the right time because bitcoin is slowly gaining mass adopted and the price is really looking good. Maybe I will try to do it again and see what happens.
Good, well at least you've tried. The things that you do with a good intention would give you a good results in the end, it won't betray you.
Social media is indeee a great medium in order to propagate information just like about bitcoin. This way, we will arouse people's awarenes about bitcon and build their interest about it. However, this might also bring bad effect. First is you are uncovering your mask ang reveal that you are a bitcoin user. Second, if ever bitcoin is banned suddenly in your country, you may be included in their watchlist for bitcoin users (probably far from reality but it is a possibility). Last is you made yourself prone from hackers. Hackers might gain interest in you and hack your accounts (facebook, instagram, e-mail, etc) hoping that they may access your wallet using your account/s.
You got a nice dark thought there, could it be worse than that? I mean, why do you have to be afraid to be a "Bitcoin user"?
People always scared to the thing that they don't fully understand. Think about this, if your government would ban Wikipedia for some reason (just like Turkey did), then would you be afraid/ashamed of being an ex-Wikipedia user? Same thing goes with Bitcoin
~ (Like that day when the price goes insanely high and keep going til now). Then 2 days ago some of my friends suddenly asked me about what Bitcoin is & how could the price goes up like that.~
bad bad bad, terrible thing.
you are just bringing in more speculators, more people to just invest in, more people who are going to think bitcoin is a "get rich quick scheme" where they can just buy some now at lets say $1550 and wait a couple of weeks to become millionaires while price goes to $10000.
and i am speaking from experience.
when you show price to new people and only talk about rise and how we are going "to the moon" they will expect that from bitcoin. and believe me that they will want their money back from you when price goes down from $1550 to $1549 and stays there for a week.
p.s. try telling them about bitcoin as a currency first, and profit/price second.
Good point, yeah I shouldn't start with that kind of thing.
You know there are already persons who did that kind of activity and that is present since then. Social medias are being used for some crypto related exposure for long time now.
In my experience, I just posted the bitcoin price back then (I think when the price hits $500 and got some comments like "what is that all about" or "what is bitcoin". I think around 10 persons asked me some related question to my post. But as usual, only 2 or 3 I think got hooked and eager to learn what bitcoin is. So in general, no matter what platform we used to advertise bitcoin, it will still depends on the eagerness of the person that will reached by the ads.
Yeah, but I just think there are more people in social media than in the other platform. Right?
