Good initiative; maybe a way to gather a couple of more serious local folks who understand what this Bitcoin thing is about.

Found it easier back in the old day (2013'ish) to connect with the "old guard"; back at that time people in Bitcoin were generally much more driven by ideals. Lots of the guys from the old days retired by now, keeping a low profile and not much involved anymore publicly. Good on them!

Since 2017 the (visible) local scene here in Vietnam unfortunately has become total dogshit, a pure cesspool. Everybody playing the China-style get rich quick schemes; launching bullshit token scams and generally it feels it has become a gathering place for low-ethics hustler scum of society... - which certainly makes many of the decent local people stay away from it; rightfully so.

Unfortunately in the (active) local scene there is at this point in time not anybody I could vouch for without reservations, but maybe they are also all just in hiding/lurking mode because they don't want to associate with the local crypto-scammer folks and dont know where else to turn to.

Therefore... - would be happy if this thread helps to find a few more local folks who are interested in Bitcoin beyond seeing it just as a way to "quick riches" and screwing over your fellow people in the process as manyfold & fast as possible.

Beyond that:

Not sure if he's on Bitcointalk, but Hugohanoi certainly one of the few Bitcoin folks of Vietnamese descent who provide very valuable contributions to the scene.

Otherwise the local Bitcoin-focused communities in Saigon, Da Nang, Vung Tau and Hanoi seem to do a decent job, but are unfortunately very Expat-skewed when it comes to the attendance rate.

Hi,

I am from Vietnam. Nice to meet you here.

  • I am thankful to anyone from Vietnam who read the thread, that is written in English. I am sorry for the inconvenience because we can't discuss in Vietnamese, our mother tongue, for now. I will give you reasons later.
  • Let's talk about rules in my thread.
  • Please don't spam, and obey my local rules as well as forum rules. Stick with rules. I said please.

Local rules of the thread
  • All posts in the thread must be written in English to be eligible.
  • Spam, zero-value, troll posts will be deleted by me. I may or maynot report such 'bad' posts to moderators.
  • The thread is opened for everyone because there are good users no matter which ranks they are currently staying at.
  • I reserve any rights to delete your posts or lock the thread whenever I want.
  • Candidates of good Vietnamese users will be applied via following form (at the bottom of the thread). Applications will only be accepted (by me) if applicants satisfy three criteria:

    Vietnamese local thread's history
The Vietnamese local thread was created on January 18, 2012, at Việt (Vietnamese), by baby_ghost. It is one of the earliest born local threads according to History of local boards

When and why the Vietnamese local thread was locked ?
    When?
The local thread was locked on November 08, 2017, by hilariousandco.

    Why?
Due to constant abuse according to the last message by a global moderator, who locked it. The message is below.
    Quote
Locked due to constant abuse. This is why we can't have nice things. Anyone creating Vietnamese threads outside of here will be banned.

Why I open the thread ?
As I stated in local rules of the thread, I believe there are good people in any nations, any locations and at any forum ranks. I started here from zero, and now I have nearly reached the Legendary rank. I earned my 1304 merits from my contributions to the forum. I strongly believe that if you are good users, you can do the same like me. Starting from zero, and become Hero, then Legendary.

On the other hand, I also believe that don't have a local thread or a local board for our Vietnamese is a kind of disadvantage for all of us, especially newbies. Newbies mostly struggle with their beginnings on the forum as I used to. So I want to help.

But we have to do it together. The reasons of lock is abuse, massive and constant abuse. Honestly, over my time on the forum so far I have not yet seen significant contributions of Vietnamese users to the forum. I could be wrong sure because I probably don't know valuable Vietnamese users. It is one of reasons I made the thread.

Odds to see Vietnamese local threads will be re-allowed
The odds to get acceptance from the head admin, theymos to re-allow Vietnamese threads is extremely low. But as always don't give up. Let's change our destiny, begin with our contributions, not abuses. Let's change the way you use the forum first and see what will happen next months or even years. Please don't expect any changes instantly, it won't be changed in a blink of eyes.

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
Now, let's spend your time to read or re-read forum rules. If you are newbies, you must do it.

    A welcome message from theymos
Next, please read a welcome message delievered by theymos: Writing a welcome message.
After reading it, you will understand the forum give you all warm welcome, from learning knowledge to getting income. Most important point I want to emphasize from the admin's message is you have to obey forum rules, contribute first, grow up, before thinking of getting income. It is the right way for you to use the forum. Having some sort of jobs on the forum is privilege, not rights.

Table of potential good Vietnamese users
Let's start off the table by my self-description and my contributions.
    • I joined the forum on November 08, 2017
    • My contributions: you can see them here and have your own assessments on what I have contributed.

If the table can not be expanded well with good users, the odds for us is zero.

    Table format is under construction.

    Application form
The form is under construction.(no need to hurry, you need time to think of what you will write here).

Let's discuss first, but as being said, please say nice words, in English. If you don't have nice words to say, please ignore my thread.
