Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

I will admit that Roger is a decent story teller; however, he does not really seem to understand the concept of "torture."

On the other hand, even if he can show that he has various human characteristics and he is empathetic, a lot of this can end up being a distraction (and an appeal to emotion) that takes us away from considering the narcissism that seems to motivate his ongoing involvement in bcash and using bcash as an ongoing attack on bitcoin and deceiving other people (especially dumb people and newbies.. and probably even traps some smarter people into such deceptions in their hopes that bcash will pump relative to bitcoin if they realize the difference) into believing that bcash is some kind of "bitcoin"

It was torturous listening to him, I got to he had to lay off workers before I just shut him off. I've been there for taking on the man as well and doubt he knows what torture is or how easily you can be found hung even in a "civilized" nation. He's lucky they didn't demonize him first.

Yes.  At the time of Roger's lock-up for the "fireworks", he was 22 years old and an unknown, but just from his description, he did not seem to experience any kind of real torture, and overall he may have received a bit on the kit glove treatment side.

If Roger were locked up now, he could have some bad experiences based on his exponentially increased notoriety - but since he is rich, too, currently, rich people do NOT tend to get tortured when they go to jail, unless there are really extreme and revolutionary things going on in the society.  By the way, I would not wish torture on anyone, even if they have some despicable personality traits, but there are concepts of fairness/justice that assert that letting the punishment fit the crime would be the right thing to do in figuring out punishment(s).

Sergey Brin says Google 'failed to be on the bleeding edge' of blockchain
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/09/brin-says-google-failed-the-bleeding-edge-blockchain.html

Quote
As for his personal interest in blockchain and the digital currencies that it's spawned, Brin admitted he doesn't know "a whole lot about cryptocurrency," but an amateur mining rig set-up with his son piqued his interest.

"A year or two ago my son insisted that we needed to get a gaming PC," Brin said. "I told him If we get a gaming PC we have to mine cryptocurrency. So we got an ethereum miner on there and we’ve been making a few pennies and dollars since."

Brin said, "that definitely got me interested and I started to study the technology behind it and found it to be fascinating."

Is Sergey Brin playing coy about crypto, or is he seriously just out of touch? Sergey, this shit has been around for nine years now!

$19k was just ‘elevated’. I was awaiting ‘frenzy’ at $50k. But someone pulled the plug early.

A few of us got really enthusiastic about it. Then everybody got pissed 'cuz they thought we all got rich about it.

Then some of us just got poor about it again. It's a karmic rollercoaster. And it's not a free ride.

I strongly recommend you do not carry all of it in your head.

But that's not the only reason why I am buying. BTC is still a good buy even if it moves sideways for the next 5 years. I like the idea carrying all your wealth with you where ever you go. Just memorize your seed and your brain is your bank.

You know it's gonna happen again, and it will be even more epic.

This is what keeps me going mostly. My highest buy was @$15.5k. I bought 4 times more when it was above 10k (14k x2, 13k and 12k) rest of my buys are all below 10k and somehow I can still survive a price as low as $2.5k  Grin

Since the adoption has grown so big, (still not as big as we'd like it to be) you can just survive solely on bitcoins.

But these are the boring features of bitcoin mostly. If I told you that I was only interested in these features only, I would be lying. (and you wouldn't believe me) Of course sometimes I find myself dreaming of a big sailboat and naked girls and that's motivating as fuck too.  Grin

Pretty amusing when back in January some people here thought the $3k-4k moves up and down every 2-3 days was "just a correction" and completely sustainable, lol.

also amusing when over and over again many said LAST time LAST chance to buy BTC under 5-digits  Roll Eyes  let the time be there that its really the last time to buy @these prices  Grin

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
It was surreal. But I was naive. I really thought on some level maybe we could sustain that. I just hated the idea of selling too much. Live and learn, I say.

That's the thing that sucks though. If you are a true believer that long term Bitcoin is a better form of money than fiat, then selling a huge amount just to profit from a bubble feels awful. Especially if you sold it to fund something that is not deflationary. You'll likely not rebuy that Bitcoin back or even reinvest your gains, which defeats the whole point. And you enable the whales to win again, the rich get richer.

long time holder here (2011) and i sold some on the dec 2017 run up, it was too hard to resist not taking some profits off the table. i used it to do some house upgrades and get a few new toys.

yes i believe in what bitcoin represents; the new way of storing value, security and money in general. i wouldnt have held the bulk of my btc this long if i didnt. but taking advantage of its price rise here and there, well, nothing wrong with that imo. its nice to enjoy the benefits on occasion.

afaict empires aren't defeated, they just sort of crumble. I saw the writing on the wall and jumped on the train. Nothing revolutionary about that.

but not haha amusing. I kind of always knew what the shot was going to be, but my inner bull took over the chinashop. Some said that I was a dreamer. But was I really the only one?

I knew back in December when things went parabolic that we were in a bubble. It was surreal. Even my SO said something to me one morning like "yeah... it's looking more and more like another bubble" and she isn't even good at detecting such things.

The only question on our minds was how high would it go.

Here's the thing : the amount of deep pocket traders $$$ with their crazy leverage is STILL, even after nearly a decade, far outnumbering the amount of $$$ put in by the Average Joe bitcoiners. By far. I think it's going to take another decade or so before these type of swings smooth out. Unless of course, ETFs come online, which means that Average Joe money will never be able to overtake the market. The whales will still maintain control of it.

It was surreal. But I was naive. I really thought on some level maybe we could sustain that. I just hated the idea of selling too much. Live and learn, I say.
