Your FUD on BTC-e was timed perfectly with the double top!
And to think, you didn't even need to print "China bans bitcoin!" this time.

The 38-year-old is characterized by the US authorities as one of the leading members of an organization that was running large amounts of money through an online Bitcoin digital exchange platform that helped to "launder" more than $ 4 billion from 2011 to date!

Wow... Just wondering how many billions of $$$ have been laundered through other "online Bitcoin digital exchange platforms" like Bitstamp, Kraken, and Bifinex?

Flippin' burgers since 1163.
If the BTC-e story is true, what is the likely effect it will have on the price?

Will be minimal if any effect at all. This time gov-banking oligopoly couldn't confiscate bitcoin holdings of the exchange like they did to MtGox
[...]

Plus BTC-e would be the place to take your freshly acquired bitcoins to. So except from some nervous day traders this won't do much negatively for the price. Maybe even the opposite, the number of bitcoins that are actually being traded just got reduced.

The Big Bit Theft, the Dark Web and the Sleazy Life of the Russian Who Detected the FBI in Halkidiki
Vassilis Kyriacoulis

38-year-old Russian Alexander Vinnik enjoyed his vacation with his partner in one of the most expensive hotels in Ouranoupoli in Halkidiki. He had not realized the slightest of the FBI steps he had been watching for months, informing the Greek prosecution authorities of his action. Yesterday after a surprise operation he was arrested and today he was handcuffed to the prosecutor of the Thessaloniki Court of Appeals in order to start the proceedings for his extradition to the United States.

In the traces of the massive attack on Mt. Gox

Characteristically, according to the documents sent to the Greek authorities on the bitcoins exchange platform behind which the 38-year-old Russian is hiding, a large part of the "stolen" removed from Mt. Gox , which by the end of 2014 managed 70% of the volume of bitocoin trades worldwide, but after the attack it received declared bankrupt.

The trial of MT's CEO recently kicked off in Tokyo. Gox Mark Karpelès , who accused the hackers of the 850,000 bitcoin, worth about $ 500 million, lost in 2014. According to documents that reached 306,853 bitcoins stolen after the attack on Mt. Gox entered the BTC-e purses. According to the same documents another part of the stolen from the attack on Mt. Gox arrived at a San Francisco exchange office.

"One of the biggest" money laundering "on the Internet

As stated in the documents sent by the US Department of Justice, BTC-e is "one of the largest entities in the field of electronic money laundering and money laundering in the world". According to the US authorities, "illegal proceeds come from a number of high-level piracy, ransom repayment systems, drug trafficking and tax systems." As the US authorities have estimated on this platform since 2011, 12.5 million bitcoins have been filed and blamed, and blame the 38-year-old Russian and his colleagues for spilling at least $ 4 billion!
Corrupt agents

Through the platform behind which the Russians are accused of allegedly scamming money, two corrupt US federal agents Carl Force and Shaun Bridges , who were accused of robbing millions of dollars worth of Silk Road , This site was one of the largest black drug markets in the so-called "dark internet".
The trails at Abu Dhabi's luxury hotel

The FBI had closely watched 38-year-old Russian at least over a year ago, as its papers refer to May 2016 as a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, as it traced its digital footprints through a WebMoney account.
He denies the accusations

Today, in front of the prosecutor in Thessaloniki, 38-year-old Russian denies any interference with the accusations attributed to him by the US authorities, and he said he was amazed at his arrest. The Appeals Council is expected to meet in the coming time, which is required to give its opinion on the request for extradition to the United States, and then the final decision will be taken by the Minister for Justice. The maximum period of detention by the Greek authorities may not exceed two months.

In order to dump coins one must have coins
Apparently the name of the guy who was arrested is Alexander. Same name as one of the admins of BTC-E.

My guess is the other founder got wind of it and took the cold storage and started mixing it right away. 66,000 BTC at least.

Additional hints:

Also BTC-e was founded in 2011, while bitmixer in 2014
The guy behind bitmixer doesn't looks like russian from his posts
Most of the Bitcoin ramsons were exchanged on BTC-e
And they havent even twitted anything new since yesterday, not even to counter the rumours
...

I think it is already nearing certainty that it is BTC-e.

Why does every one rule out the option that bitmixer and btc-e was ran by the dame guy?

If the BTC-e story is true, what is the likely effect it will have on the price? Some are saying that users will get their funds back as it wasnt a hack and others are saying the funds are gone with the rest of the crew 66kbtc moved.

I am surprised there hasnt been a dump on the rumours alone yet.

Effect on users with funds there... probably big. Effect on price? Not that much.

BTC-E is/was mostly irrelevant nowadays. There are lots of exchanges so the impact on one is just that.

It's highly unlikely that even if the funds are being mixed/tumbled they will hit the exchanges any time soon, or ever.

I have always thought that BTC-E price was almost always lower because there is where people that wanted to avoid other more regulated exchanges would go sell their coins without worrying that much about the "discount".

Funds are moving (btc-e?). He/her/they have it down to 12k now splitting all the way into 20btc chunks mainly with a few 2500btc along the way. This is the address where we are at now. 1Md93Zw6qLYEQjUwrVZgTUhjFJ7eJK8Ehj

I believe that something else is up too. The oligopoly want to control both bitcoin and its users. That means removing potential actors that they can't control.

Notice the recent announcement of the approval of the CFTC to allow option swaps with bitcoin through LedgerX? Yeah, they want to control the bitcoin market just like they control the metals market. They don't want money leaving the market through any side doors or back exits (unless they themselves are doing it).

Congress voted for new Russian sanctions yesterday. One can say that btc-e is a Russian entity. By confiscating btc-e bitcoins US gov is confiscating (or trying to confiscate) Russian bitcoins. This reminds me of Cyprus few years ago when EU decided to confiscate Russian euros in all Cyprus banks.

Cost of production to mine anything in space will be astronomical so you're wasting my time even mentioning it.  You might as well claim we will mine gold inside a black hole or alternate dimension. We would probably attempt to mine metals 2 miles under the ocean long before space but that is of course no threat to anyone buying at current prices.
http://www.planetaryresources.com/
http://deepspaceindustries.com/

Cost to start mining will be astronomical but so will be the quantities mined. Asteroid mining is not that far away in time. Privatization of space industry is bringing down costs. You don't really know whether the costs will be so high that the market won't be flooded enough to keep the price of precious metals down.
That's a futuristic concept art, you don't need that kind of structure to start mining an asteroid, and it's not a Dyson sphere. You don't have to maneuver kilometer long asteroids, small ones will do, there are ones passing close by Earth, you don't have to go to the other side of the Sun or something.

It will probably be a couple decades but you shouldn't be so dismissive of it, especially if you're betting all on precious metals

You know what youre talking about, unlike ROach who loves mixing things together with irrational explanations..which make me convinced that his longterm gold plan will be ruined if he wont listen. Thats not my problem i just gave him a good tip. I'm baffled about the Dyson spheres those belong to type 2+ civilizations while we Earthlings sticking to type 0.

Same story when i explained 3d printer to my friends years ago, they thought i was crazy. There was no such thing as ''printing'' a house out of a 3d printer, they know better now. Even NASA is using a 3d printer to print food for there mission to Mars. Within 10 years everybody will have one so people can download ore disign there own furniture. possibilities are end-less.

Idem dito with Bitcoin. Those people who called me a fool are now respecting me because they know i'm starting to get rich. (Profits are nice but thats not my main goal, financial freedom is more important to me)

I love longterm exotic technology, my calls are always on spot.

Currently i'm reading a lot about nano technology and human DNA, in particular DNA manipulation.
