Flippin' burgers since 1163.
In the light of the recent exchange drama, did Bitfinex in the end resolve its banking issues (deposit/withdraw USD)?

Good chance there are also stolen coins among the many coins we own by now. People are willing to pay a premium for freshly mined virgin bitcoins.

That´s the problem with a transparent blockchain and that´s why monero is rising right now

And that won't lead to monero attracting special attention from the FBI and having its fiat gateways tightly controlled and resources ploughed into cracking the cryptography that will eventually expose the whole monero blackchain.....  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin is absolutely right to have a transparent blockchain, it just lacks the optionally private transactions that Dash has mastered with PrivateSend.  Obfuscate the transactions, not the whole damn blockchain.  Ah well, people will learn.

Does anyone know Kraken's policy in the event of a coin split?  Have they announced one?

The laws of maths are stronger than the laws of men. Good luck cracking the XMR cryptography. Also, the whole Dash is so cheesy that is almost respetable Wink

Please dont compare this shitty scamcoin with Monero.
"it just lacks the optionally private transactions" <- this is a feature not a bug, anonymity by default is a necessity for a anon cryptocurrency.

Eagerly awaiting to see what they've found and proofs do they have. If they don't show that within week or two then all is just mirrors and smoke!

people are more scared of human laws than mathematical ones.

I don't think so. Try to walk on the street by neglecting mathematical laws. You'll kill yourself in just a minute.

Paradoxically, TPTB needs fungibility too and that´s the very reason of existence of the offshores. Do you think the rothchilds are going to have his money visible at the eyes of all?

i expect if people of that level do get involved it'll be on a custodial basis and there'll never be any way of linking them to any type of crypto.

stuff like buying into the mythical xapo laptop locked in a vault is how they'll do it.

the only option going forward will be p2p.

if government wants to get heavy on truly anonymous coins all exchanges are gonna cave. they'll stop trading it.

Earlier today news broke of an arrest in Greece of a Russian national suspected of running a large-scale money laundering operation focused on Bitcoin. The man has since been publicly identified as Alexander Vinnik, 38, and over $4 billion USD is said to have been trafficked through the operation since 2011.

We won't beat around the bush with it: Vinnik is our chief suspect for involvement in the MtGox theft (or the laundering of the proceeds thereof). This is the result of years of patient work, and these findings were surely independently uncovered by other investigators as well. Everyone who worked on the case have patiently kept quiet while forwarding findings to law enforcement, so as not to tip suspects off and to maximize the chances of arrests.

With such an arrest actually happening, we think today might — finally — be the day when we can begin talking about what we've actually been doing all this time and what we found. Thank you for your patience.

In September 2011, the MtGox hot wallet private keys were stolen, in a case of a simple copied wallet.dat file. This gave the hacker access to a sizable number of bitcoins immediately, but also were able to spend the incoming trickle of bitcoins deposited to any of the addresses contained.

According to the same documents another part of the stolen from the attack on Mt. Gox arrived at a San Francisco exchange office.

I think it'll go down some if the rumor is true and BTCe did indeed hack MT Gox.

The rumor is that MtGox hacker laundered stolen bitcoins by selling them on BTC-e. This is very different from accusing BTC-e of hacking MtGox. lol

The rumor is that BTC-e hacked MtGox and used their own exchange to sell a good portion of the BTCs.

But lets see, so far just rumors...

Did everyone just miss this bit ?? -
The trial of MT's CEO recently kicked off in Tokyo. Gox Mark Karpelès , who accused the hackers of the 850,000 bitcoin, worth about $ 500 million, lost in 2014. According to documents that reached 306,853 bitcoins stolen after the attack on Mt. Gox entered the BTC-e purses. According to the same documents another part of the stolen from the attack on Mt. Gox arrived at a San Francisco exchange office.

What's that supposed to mean? Sooner or later every bitcoin (stolen or not) will "enter" some exchange. That doesn't mean that the person that sends it to the exchange is the thief!

Fair point but the powers that be like to spin it as facilitating money laundering. ie the exchange is providing a platform for the sale of stolen goods (btc)
I know its bullshit but try telling the fbi that when they come a knocking.

If the rumors are true that BTCe hacked Mt. Gox, then 500k BTC hitting the market is probably not going to make the price go up much anytime soon. I do welcome cheap coins, though.

everyone here probably has a little of those coins in their wallets. it's not as if the guy was gonna sit on it forever.
