what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
[..] My third regret is not stopping mining and switching to simple dca and hodl in Jan of 2018.

My chance to live a truly great retirement is pretty much gone.

I will live a good retirement instead

hey you still hit the retirement part.. a win is still a win. many folks never even get any retirement..

I personally hate this kind of declarations:

JUST IN: 🇺🇸 Robert F. Kennedy Jr says he will sign an executive order for the US to buy 550 Bitcoin per day to build a reserve of 4 million BTC, if elected president.

Suddenly, Bitcoin as a national monetary reserve is a thing.

Bold statement considering only 21 million BTC will ever be created, at what USD price is he willing to do that I wonder? If he plans to do it with the "money printer" (debt) he will definitely inflate USD a lot in the process. As mentioned previously (different example/wording), having 1 BTC at USD $1,000,000 isn't that great if a Big Mac costs USD $1000.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
I finally received my mtgox payout. After so many years it doesn’t seem real. It seems like the only uncertainty left in the market is the BTC the US government is sitting on, but it sounds like Trump is going to try and ease that concern this week. Admittedly the market is more bullish than I anticipated. I’m beginning to wonder if my end of year target of $85K is too low.

Yeah.

How is that smug sale at $67k going?

Yeah, but I am most interested in the next 10-15 years....2045 is way too far for many people, including Michael himself, perhaps...he would be 80 then (much younger than W. Buffett, though).
My biggest regret with Btc is I am 67 not 37.

Second biggest was my lack of belief in it until 2017 and early 2018.

My third regret is not stopping mining and switching to simple dca and hodl in Jan of 2018.

Hang in there...we might have some interesting age treatments in 10-15 years.
This is a VERY active area of research right now.

I get the sense that Philip recognizes his mistakes, but he's not going to do anything meaningful to fix it, so he will continue to make the same (or similar) mistakes, even though he knows better... which is ongoingly seling too much too soon.. .and then complaining that he sold too much too soon, again.

How about we concentrate on getting to $100k first  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

That is small potatoes.

Yeah, sure $100k, comes before $500k, $1 million and even $20 million, but there is nothing wrong with considering and talking about those BIGger numbers

Part of the reason that we want to think about and talk about BIGger numbers is so that current BTC holders do not end up having too many regrets about selling too many coins too soon because they had failed/refused to have a BIG enough imagination and therefore they ended up failing/refusing to think BIG enough.

Suddenly, Bitcoin as a national monetary reserve is a thing.
And as a political weapon a thing now.
Even someone that called it a scam some years ago

That quite hurts
There are youths Now who still don't believe and consider it a scam
While others prefer scam coins because of *10.
Even if age might not look to be on yourside
It's better than you still been in the dark even till now.
Like Biodom said anything can happen within 10 years
With Good health
A great retirement is still on the table.

Yeah agreed. When there are presentations about how Bitcoin will be in the $1m+ range in the next 10 years, well that's obvious. Let's not waste energy speculating on whether it will be $2m or $3m, or $5m or $10m. It will get into the millions soon enough.

Yeah, but I am most interested in the next 10-15 years....2045 is way too far for many people, including Michael himself, perhaps...he would be 80 then (much younger than W. Buffett, though).

If someone is interested, I've got essentially the same conservative number ($3 mil) assuming 25% growth in the next 10 years and then 15% growth for 11 more years.
This "assumes" that bitcoin slows down it's appreciation. Most people agree that it would eventually happen and the only question is when.
I would be totally fine if btc instead kind of reached the very high plateau at, say, $3-5 mil per in 5-10 years and then just oscillate with a 7-10%/year upward trend.
Last 5 years were roughly 48.2% yearly appreciation and the 5 years before that-75%

That said...and just playing with numbers... if you project the slowdown linearly from today's prices (comparing an exact point 10, then 5 years ago and a point 5 years in the future-July 26, 2029, then the 'theoretical' yearly appreciation number (average) in the next 5 years is projected to be 30.97% or 3.85X or $262,236-kind of on the low side, but it is what it is.
