there was a tweet today saying that there will be a fork of Bitcoin and that all Bitcoin holders will get tokens on the fork...

the tweet also said that they will attempt to claim the XBC symbol from the long dead BitcoinPlus...

I don't really follow it,  but maybe that's why XBC is up so much today - though it is BS,  I think lol

anyway,  ho does it work - it this fork does occur,  how do we claim our tokens on it?

I loved the idea behind bitcoin since the very beginning.

That's why I got into Bitcoin in the first place. The realization that I could make a lot of money from it came later.

It was all about decentralized, open-source peer-to-peer networking. This is what I call the real New World Order.

When I first heard about Napster, it wasn't free music that fascinated me. It was the idea of P2P file sharing. I watched as the process evolved from centralized to partially centralized and then to fully decentralized, ending up with bittorrent magnet links and torrent portals existing on redundant cloud servers based on multiple continents.

I watched Wikipedia evolve from a sketchy platform where anyone could post any bullshit they wanted to my go-to site for research. The site itself may be centralized but the content is controlled by a worldwide decentralized community of contributors who keep it honest.

Social media sites are similar. The sites themselves may be so centralized that they are all basically operated by Prism but the content is still supplied by a worldwide community. Likewise crowdfunding.

Long live the real New World Order.

it's very good we crossed $1000 once again

Indeed. It wasn't long ago that $1000 seemed like a dream.

Remember when we first hit $1000 back in 2013? People were ecstatic. They planned international Bitcoin millionaire parties and bought Lamborghinis and castles.

Then some people convinced themselves that we'd never reach $1000 again. It was all fake, they said. MtGox, Willybot, Beanie Babies, tulip bubbles, etc.

Now it's become our new base line. If it dips below, it's only for a few hours, or as we saw this past weekend, a day.

Not bad considering that one esteemed moderator posted about the "myth" of triple digits back in the summer of 2013.

Just look at us now.

I've been enjoying the volatility over the last few days - was a great chance to stock up and do a little bit of range trading - will be nice to see another rise again now - fingers crossed for that...

You are a kind of torch against the darkness when we face difficult times. Your attitude makes me more comfortable my coffee lover friend

Thanks, but it's easy to be positive when your coins are worth many times what you paid for them.

I was lucky to have discovered Bitcoin just before a bubble, in early 2013. I'd read about the Great Bitcoin Bubble of 2011 and the lengthy recovery afterward, so I didn't panic when the price plummeted in April. Likewise I didn't panic after the autumn 2013 bubble burst and we went into a year-and-a-half bear market.

It's really easy for me to hold firmly, while buying the dips. Those who bought in after learning about Bitcoin because of a bubble might have a harder time being resolute.

Seeing the price fall to under $60 after I'd bought in at $68 and paid up to $120 was hard but the history lesson of 2011 taught me to be strong. For those who bought at $1300, the dip to $900 could be traumatic.
_____

By the way, the only reason I used to mention coffee is because I usually post when I first check prices upon rising. My main drink is Guinness Extra Stout.

That said, I'm on my second cup of Mocha-Java, full city roast with half-and-half cream and pure cane sugar. Yum.

Thanks for your honesty Jimbo. I think I am in the exact situations as you are having bought in a long time ago. But still, I loved the idea behind bitcoin since the very beginning.

p.s we have the same favourite drinks, Guinness and coffee.  Grin

By the way, it's very good we crossed $1000 once again

we seem to be almost out of the woods with this BUllshit Unlimited attack.

there seem to be critical mass of people who understand the importance of decentralisation. .

Trustlessness, decentralization and a strict cap on the number of total coins are the foundation upon which Bitcoin is built.

We must never give these up.

Glad to still have folk like you around. We will become a smaller and smaller minority as time goes on.

How I see it: I've convinced myself that the bitcoin price will be significantly higher at some point in time. Reason enough for me to hold through everything.

That's how I look at it. I've sold a few over the time I've invested but still HODL a stash that I hope will one day make me a happy guy. Hopefully sooner rather than later but willing to wait a few years Cheesy

I would advise to keep some eggs in another basket. Don't place all eggs into one basket.
Those rules maybe ancient, but have proven themselfes since some time.

but what other basket would have so much profit potential as Bitcoin²
i have heard that Onecoin, Pepecash are very good alternatives. Lets face it: Onecoin did the most extraordinary thing that not a single cryptocurrency ever did: calling itself a bitcoin 2.0 without a blockchain Roll Eyes. They are so awesome that they dont need blockchain to call themself bitcoin 2.0 and Pepecash because evil Pepe will destroy everything.  Lesson : 100% in bitcoin or agree with second choice alternatives.

Exactly! Was going to start a business not a long time ago but when I found out how much should I invest in equipment, vehicles, salaries, premises rent etc and compared to the potential profit I asked myself why? My BTCs are earning more just by sitting in my cold wallet.  Roll Eyes

Yes my friend. I am going to do that. More fiat incoming in 5 days. I am gld that i have joined this party when the price was still about 600$.  We are all blessed with bitcoin and cursed with greed.  Embarrassed

Looks like i have entered stage 3 of the bitcoin phase

I was editing an addition to my post while you were replying. You might want to go back and read it.

Some day your $600 entry price will seem like a dream. You'll be able to brag about buying in for triple digits.

They're supporting their desire to seize power. And no one's actually running BU.

They may be hungry but they ain't stupid. They'd signal an implementation that did nothing but make a farting noise if it got them power.
I am going to hodl from now on guys. Cant predict this price anymore. BU is screwing my mathematical calculations all over today. Rip trading, it was fun while it lasted. Huge profits but also huge losts like today. Now i only have my good old cold storage. I will dump more fiat money in it and keep hodling. Rip easy trade days.  Roll Eyes
Yes for the haters: i got rekt today like you hodlers get rekt earlier this month. But i have to go trough all the stress and switching to shitty altcoins and fiat like some crazy idiot. And for what...

And a new hodler was born.
It really hurts. I increased my stash so many times i felt like a pro. And now BOOOM! All trading stash destroyed by 1 mistake, nice. Hodling for ever is the only right choice. This means that i will become just as sassy and sarcastic like you guys? Its part of the hodling process i guess. Smeagol was also hodling his precious ring and look how he turned into shit haha  Cheesy

I don't get it, how can you lose your full trading stash from a 10% eth/btc move ?
I put all my btc into ethereum on march 26, switched to btc because ethereum was going down and btc was going up. After i done that, btc was going down and ethereum was goin up. They are move divergential. So i switched to ethereum again. After that ethereum was going down, btc too, but ethereum faster. So i paniced and went full retart and switched to fiat after almost 1 month. So i was is fiat, btc dumped like expected BUT that stupid Ether was going up like i mentioned. They are moving divergential. A negative correlation. So my plan could have worked but i expected Ether to crash anytime soon because Bitcoin is amost bottomed-out. They were just driving me crazy and i lost controll. 2 rules of trading; stay calm and be pacient. I wasnt because i knew the altcoin party is almost over and btc dump was almost finished too. I was too greedy and inpacient. I bought 230 ether on february, and dumped them at the same price because nothing happened and bitcoin continued to go up. After i did that Ether increased with 400% so i lost that oppurtunity too because i dont have the pacience.

Its the best to stay away and stop with trading for ever for me. There is just that one moment when you finally lose your controll and pacience and start making stupid moves.
So i will build my cold stash (trying to increase it with 250%) with my fiat money.

Ahh, I see what your problem is: It's impossible to trade an asset if you know that it is essentially crap. You should try to find trading pairs, which you are comfortable to hold to, even at a temporary loss. This worked for me in the past with Blackcoin and Monero.
But monero has the same movement as Bitcoin, but its less profitable. I just need a safe or dead coin where i can put my money in incease btc goes down. I tried tether but tehter wallet sucks. You can put fiat money and btc in a tether wallet but you cant transform it to tether. But who cares, trading days are done.

Bitcoin won't go down overnight without notice, you'll know it way before the doomsday by the price and the news and all other stuff, and all the other news. And things would not be much better with any other coin because they are all strongly related to Bitcoin.

But for me it is not much more likely than any end of world scenario
