Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
We don't go from a bull market to a bear market, merely because a correction ends up coming or the correction ends up being deeper and/or longer than expected.
You might want to add this... @BlackHatCoiner

I am thinking that there could be a quote from a large number of forum members.. or perhaps any member with more than 100 posts would have some potential for memorable kinds of sayings (or at least the members who are posting with some level of coherence).

Today I ordered this full extras Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe 2024. I'll have to wait 6 months to get it, though. The good thing is that by then Bitcoin price will be much higher and the lease payments besides my salary part, will cost me less in terms of my stash. My realistic hopes are for the price to be such that it will be below 4% of my stash. I still can't believe how my desicions to start accumulating and hodling in 2016-2017 are bringing me such change and joy now. New town, new home, new job, new car and with the crossing of 100K possibly even a big house and a villa. Besides, I have a fulfilling lifestyle in a town with many culture events, restaurants and hospitals. I'm very happy!

congrats
Would cost nearly over here around 3.5 btc in overall incl insurance.
Yeah, but I imagine ivomm is expecting BTC to be around $100k-ish by the time he has to pay the balance. .around 6 months-ish.. which may or may not end up playing to his favor.. .. so in dollars that car is currently between $100k and $150k depending on features.. and you are saying the same car is more in your location?.. you are suggesting that same car is a bit more than $200k?  You must be getting all of the features or some of your other assumptions are seemingly off.
Maybe leases work differently in other parts of the world but  here, lease payments are generally due monthly for a set term.  Once that term expires, you give back whatever is left of the vehicle and would then be assessed a penalty for any wear and tear / mileage over and above the contractual expectation.  There would only be a lump sum payment if you decided to buy the vehicle on lease expiration.   6 months is for the delivery of the where first and last is due, the remainder will be spread over several years so I think the $100k number was just thrown out there to use for comparison.

You got me there.  I had not caught that he was "leasing" the car, rather than buying it.  My post was presuming that he was buying the car.   Whoops.  My bad.

Try to find the LLama
I couldn't find anyone with that username. Do you mean the lama guy who thinks Bitcoin will go to 0?
Proudhon isn't a Tibetan priest. He's an alpaca.

Some of "us," (maybe only yours truly?), identify him as a being with donkey breath.

Mtgox coins have started hitting the market. The first users are beginning to confirm having received their coins. Market only down $2,300 so far today and holding up well. I imagine the losses will accelerate as people get off work or start seeing their nest egg declining as well as more users receiving their coins. Still hoping we see some billionaires taking advantage of the liquidity to do some stacking so things don’t set off a panic.
Btw not saying that you got some price actions wrong lately… though I just not following the pad all the way…
he clearly got it wrong...was talking about 38 at 54-60, never 'predicted' a rise to 67 (yea, was also giving a lip service to 135 in a year, but 38 first).

Yep.

These guys constantly calling for down will be right sooner or later, but frequently the down comes after up, and there are many examples in bitcoin's history, including recent history... There were people selling below $20k in mid to late 2022 expecting more down.. and there were even some others (or maybe the same ones) selling in the mid-to-upper $20ks throughout 2023, and how is that working out for them?

Yeah, sure we might see some down before up, but I doubt it is worth it to be failing/refusing to sufficiently adequately prepare for up, whether that is selling or merely failure to buy because of expecting lower prices that may or may not end up happening.

Received my Gox coins this morning. Sold off the BCH as is tradition and then sent all of it to cold storage.

What a wild ride that was; long term forced holding Cheesy

What is not clear to me: is it the full due amount or you are still waiting for more?

Hash Ribbons finally showing capitulation has come to an end.

Historically, when this signal prints after a period of post-halving chop, it means the halving event is about to make a mark on price.

Send it higher.

The legislature passes bills, the president signs them into law (although he can be overridden). And generally he should unless there is overriding cause not to because it is the legislature's job to determine law, the president is (supposedly) head of the executive branch. This was a big bill. If you want to say that bills should be smaller and simpler and focus on fewer issues, I can certainly agree with that.

Is trump too old? He's certainly getting up there. He'd be coming to the end of his second term now if it wasn't for shens. I'm not here to try to get you to love or even like Trump but I *do* understand how we got here.

Though all that's up for discussion. But if you think Liz Cheney is in any way viable, you're delusional. She lost her primary 66.3% to 28.9% and that's just Republicans.

As an aside, I'd just like to say that AI is awful. While researching into this stuff, the search engine was giving me its AI attempts at answers and it was egregiously wrong several times (including, at one point, saying that the law in question did not affect the 1301 stuff at all). Potentially quite dangerous.

Also, journalists are fucking awful. Discussing the consequences of a law without citing the law should be subject to being strung up by your toenails.

In addition, having read some of the bill, politicians are awful as well. And fuck the lawyers and lobbyists responsible too.

My tax returns are over two hundred pages long due to that law.

The fucking paperwork it created is nuts.

For me personally it is one of the reasons maybe the biggest that he should not get elected.

Now if Harris could get Cheney as a vp it would likely pull 10 percent away from trump as many trump voters just hate biden. (rightfully so).

kind of reminds me of this choice electrified or eaten by a shark. 🦈

My choice is neither.

So far so good we got rid of one choice.

Nest eggs which in valid claims range between fractions of a Bitcoin up to 200 000 BTC per creditor out of which 15% - 20% are paid out.

Vance is a bit to right but picking Liz Cheney as VP centers the Republicans and I could tolerate that.

But it would mean Trump drops out.

I am not anti Harris but would love for her to pick a centrist candidate for Vp

I am still not thrilled since Trump is still running and he is pretty much not qualified to run the country because he is simply too old.

I don't remember this happening as you describe it.
Do you mean TCJA (tax cuts and jobs act)?

That one had some positives as well as negatives.
Negative was that you could basically deduct only the standard deduction and you can put in only $10k in RE tax.
charity for middle class became mostly meaningless since you still just get a standard deduction.
Another negative-you could not recharacterize the Roth conversion (from IRA) back to IRA-that one hurt as it was very useful if a stock price declined.
Positive-20% deduction on a pass through income for businesses, immediate expensing in section 179.
All and all-for me, personally, taxes did not change much.

Additionally, presidents do not pass laws, that's the job of the legislative branch. Though it would be interesting to know which lobbyist group wrote it.

The text in question appears to be section 13303 (3303 in the original).

Quote
SEC. 13303. LIKE-KIND EXCHANGES OF REAL PROPERTY.
    (a) In General.--Section 1031(a)(1) is amended by striking
``property'' each place it appears and inserting ``real property''.

And a bunch of other stuff I won't clutter this thread with. It's interesting as it's almost as if it was written to target cryptos without looking like it was targeting cryptos.

presidents pass the law when they sign off.

the only time a law is not passed by the president is when the legislative branch over rides a veto.

trump did not veto that law which specifically favored real estate trades only.

it is one of the worst things done by the U.S.A. to crypto. I was not a fan of Biden and I am not a fan of Trump.

They are no longer good for America and at least one of them is not running.

I get why you favor trump but I am simply explaining to you he fucked crypto bigly with that law.

If Trump were to drop out and Vance were running AND HE PICKED Liz Cheney for Vp I would likely vote for him.

And not vote Harris. I won’t vote for someone that 11 years older than me. At 67 I know enough about old to tell you Trump is shot and won’t last 4 years.
