why whould satoshi do all this shit over the media and dont just sign the blocks and post it?

Because spending 4-5 pennies(Someone with half a Billion doesn't like to waste money you know!) and taking 1 minute of time is jumping through too many hoops for Craig Wright. Also he doesn't want attention or the spotlight but has tacky model shots and a new forum going up were he can bestow all of his new wisdom for thirsty investors.

Not that this even mattered at all , because if he could sign the first block I would simultaneously acknowledge a strong likelihood he was Satoshi and simultaneously not care what he has to say judging from his recent comments.

FYI, @gavinandresen's commit access just got removed - Core team members are concerned that he may have been hacked.

Craig Wright claims debunked:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11609707

Gavin has not posted anything to reddit in the past 10 days.  Are there any recent posts by him anywhere else?  Any OTHER posts where he confirms Craig's claim?

Maybe he is away and his ninja account has been hacked.  (To me, that post reads more like Craig's style than Gavin's style.)

Or maybe this is Gavin's way to kick the bucket and give the finger to the community...  Cheesy

"Jon Matonis" also claims to have seen proof firsthand. But I do not trust Jon's expertise or anything else...

Gavin posted this tweet right before his blogpost as an attempt to ward off critical scrutiny.... Or both accounts were hacked. Either way , it is a good idea to at least temporarily remove commit access-

i think this is just a bad attack on bitcoin.

markets reacting accordingly, first they panic becaues nobody is sure and now they buy again when they understand that there is no real proof from wright.

Guys, to be ultra sure that we in the right track and what happened today is most likely an epic scam, check the amount of the new threads created by a throwaway accounts (NLC accounts) stating that it's game over and such BS.

was not the  same basic story run about a year ago ie wright claimed or denied or whatever he was satoshi after someone tracked him down? and that his main concern was that he had tax problems. I recall his "proof" of whatever he claimed being questioned at the time as well. it was i think even covered by this forum topic?
anyhow in the end it all fell away to nothing and bitcoin got on with being bitcoin

Sometimes it takes pushing the price so far off of the rails that nobody knows what the price should be. That's when it skyrockets.

to me, it seems reasonable to pull Gavin's commit authority if there is nonsense corroboration coming from his account that potentially undermines the stability and even potential feasibility of bitcoin (if bitcoin were to be taken over by easy changes in governance that were represented in XT and Classic, for example).

Nonetheless, removing Gavin's commit access seems as if it could cause some controversy from some of the big blocker folks who tend to proclaim that XT and Classic were benign in their coupe attempts....   Gotta see how this plays out, no?  Hopefully, we are going to be able to return to regular programing - which seems to be that we had a imminent bull run pending.

Yeah I hope so as well. We were doing really good the last 6 weeks and it seemed 450 is a range from where we could continue climbing the next weeks/months.
But then again comes CW around the corner together with Gavin "supporting" him. In my opinion this is no coincedence.
I don't know what is going on behind the curtain of some people, but something is going on.

Just another attempt to fool the Bitcoin community.
If again Wright can not prove to be Satoshi, Gavin is in serious trouble regarding his last bit of credit he is having inside the community.
To safe his butt he might really say that he was hacked, although in reality he might not.
That guy will continue his shady games with us to push his agenda for bigger blocks as quick as possible.
I really start to hate him with a passion.

so after bitcoin creator unmasked, and people trust craig wight is satoshi nakamoto the price will be back to $500 ? Roll Eyes

Market's reaction suggests back to 300$...

Frequently, you can be a reasonable guy, but comments like these are just way too much....

I didn't say "300$ right away", did I? But this dump is damaging the bullish scenario, so the probability of testing 300$ increases.
I wasn't shorting, on the contrary I had a small long, and the dump triggered the stop loss.

I'm not commenting regarding whether you meant "right away" because we all know it would take a lot to reach and/or test $300.. that is on the borders of $299, right?  On the other hand, going into the $300s is a more reasonable statement and probability (which would be breaching $400), which is also seeming less likely at the moment and with the current news..

Even though the initial drop was fairly strong, it seems that we are going to need some better FUCD spreading in order to even get to those sub $400 levels any time in the near future...

You are correct that this bullish bitcoin scenario seems fairly fickle when we are getting such heavy BTC dumps based on one piece of questionable news (and does it really matter or not if Wright is Satoshi), and in that regard, if we had some more tragic news, such as one of the major exchanges going down and/or disappearing 1 million or so BTC (such as one in china trading millions of coins a week), that would likely have a considerable affect on the price performance and/or bullish price scenarios of our lil friend.

How retarded are you guys..
There is no reason for a btc drop, it doesnt matter if he is revealed. Imo its a good thing, now he can speak his mind over the block discussion.
If btc will nosedive it will rise till new hights very soon. Maybe this is the news that will be manipulated for a dump in to flash spike.

According to the bbc story the reason Craig Wright's house was raided by police was due to money he owes the Australian tax man. I can't remember the details, but if he owes a lot, he could dump a load of Bitcoins to pay the debt off if he really is Satoshi.

I'm not sure whether the tax raid and taxes part of the story is so simple as to resolve with payment(s).

A tax raid is usually going to mean that the matter is fairly complicated, and it has risen to the level of a criminal investigation and mistrust that the government felt that it was necessary to take such measures as to surprisingly confiscate property and records and hard drives.

Accordingly, you cannot merely resolve the matter by paying off those folks, if that were a potential resolution that would still be on the table.  Of course, any person who is facing criminal charges that rise to a level of a raid would want to clear up the matter sufficiently in order that he does not have to spend any significant amount of time in jail - and that usually would involve more than just making some payments - because would have to show that whatever Wright supposedly did had not risen to the level of criminal intention that would deserve significant jail time.

I don't think that various responders here are retarded.

You know we are also responding to new news, which in part is the market's reaction

...

The thing is Craig Wright's claim is backed up by Gavin Andresen this time. Gavin lost some of the credibility that he used to have, but he's still a heavy weight in the Bitcoin world. I don't think he would be easy to trick, but if he has been tricked he's going to be a laughing stock.

Gavin saying Craig Wright proved he's Satoshi to him carries a lot of weight. If Craig Wright really is Satoshi he can start selling Satoshi coins that would have been almost impossible to spend without revealing himself. That possibility can spark a dump from panicking holders.
