I just sent a fiat deposit and now this!  I hope it is sorted tomorrow.

Look at all this fresh fiat money on Bitstamp. And look at this lack of coins.

I was expecting to come back and reply to you saying not to get carried away and post the current bid/ask depth stats,

but.. wow! Bid sum is up 10m USD in 2 days and ask sum is down 8k BTC.

Thats an improvement from 500USD/BTC (bid depth) to 1375USD/BTC

I've been out of the loop for a while.  Where are you seeing this info?

I had no idea that existed. I was just going by Bitcoinity depth memory lol. Looks like I was pretty close..

it's like there was a poisonous snake coiled up on bitstamp at 400 who silently waiting to attack and just bit all the shorts to death. I've never seen such a drastic morphing of the order book and complete change in trend overnight. it's like chuck norris round house kicked the chart.

I wonder if any of those funds have stored BTC on Emptygox and are now looking to replace them.

I have a question if you don't mind answering. What is the strange looking operator in your profile picture? Every time you post I can't stop wondering what it is.

... here's a plot of interval -6pi < x< 6pi I shared with Jorgi the other day

Sounds a little fishy. They're having trouble with their trading engine but that shouldn't affect withdrawals.

They added LTC and it has caused some knock-on problems with their system.

Thanks, still don't see why the LTC withdrawls still work fine while they block all the BTC withdrawls...

Pump all the litecoins!!!

--- shitty part is that I have to pay 1.5% to transfer my BTC into LTC in order to get out... I'd much rather just take my BTC and exchange it at btc-e.

I'm no math expert, but doesn't that equation need to run for n=1 to n=infinity? aka an indefinite calculation?

Yes, but just like certain infinite sums converge (think power series for cos(x)), certain infinite products also converge.  Mathematica is pretty intelligent and can often reduce infinite sums and products to closed-form analytic equations.

I hope that there won't be any new news coming out of Canada regarding regulation... They have never paused BTC withdraws before. This is the last update we got on the regulatory environment here up north http://www.coindesk.com/canadas-finance-minister-regulate-bitcoin/

And Virtex's typical stupid note to see twitter for updates.  They managed to write that, but adding a link was too hard? They might as well post it on the back of a barn; I'm still not searching for it.    I guess the cash I just transferred will go play in LTC for now  Cheesy

Lol, I've always wondered that too.  I just crunched the product in Mathematica and it converged to an equation involving Gamma functions.  Perhaps Marcus can share its significance.

Really? That's cool. Mind if I see the Mathematica output?

f(x) = Sqrt[Pi]/(Gamma[(Pi + x)/(2Pi)] Gamma[1 - x/(2Pi)])

wow ... you might have just solved a long standing problem ... I'll let you know.
