Ahh, thanks for this. That is my second favourite bitcoin song ever. Also very fitting due to the inclement conditions lately.

However, my top favourite of all time remains this -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc6Hp_Zq3rU

Do not despair, bitcoin may or may not be the one, but in the end, at least satoshi has given us the framework to come up with a solution to the global social problem.

This is not a get rich quick scheme. It's a war.

Catchy!  It looks like after a few strategic retreats, we are holding the line for now. It's a war of attrition, and a debt-based system cannot win against us. We can wait.

I nominate this clown as FUD King of the Year. Former Fed examiner, so not surprised. This a$$hat spews so much FUD on Business Insider it makes Fonzie look like an Ivy League bull.

FUD based on truth, not on humor, is always more effective..

I want facts, not truth. If you want truth, there's always philosophy and whiskey.

This Fed lackey's opinion pieces don't even compare.

I would love to write a novel in reply to this excellent post but I have to take my wife and kids out for a swim shortly.
The sentiment of the novel has truth yet the OP fails to consider the Global power shift that an exponential rise in BTC would have.
I got a ban on trollbox for saying
"This is dangerous, I would rather have educated warmongers in powerful positions rather than undereducated snotty nosed geeks with a banhammer ruling the world"

BTC has grown so fast that it has become premine!

: ) yeah it was a tiny bit long winded... I had an attack of the verbals

But you see I have no problem with your point...

Personally I do belive in the concept of Crypto/Bitcoin, and I do believe it has very good prospects... and I am a total "bull" but a considered one..

I also do consider the problems, and risks , and roadblocks,  and infact believe doing so is good and very much needed...no meaningful and worthwhile project got anywhere without a lots of smart brains doing exactly that...and so dialogue and communication is not only needed but in the case of cryptocurrecny -  community is part of what this whole thing is about....

Also actually I think that one of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result... Also I am not sure that the choice is a) between educated warmongers  and snotty geeks or that b) there does really need to be a global power shift for Bitcoin to exist.. not to the point where the "geeks rule the world"  I think those are all logical leaps somewhat.

Anyhoo I need to go and collapse..

Bitstamp and BTC-e haven't moved, while gox hit $300. I can't buy until coinbase goes down

It's not gonna. That's why we need a real exchange in America. Fast drops and fast pops, Coinbase lags and you never get the best price.

Clueless!
question 1 "can you still buy from mtgox with fiat for bitcoin...or is that shut down" (again I intend to hold till .....even if it goes to $2 beanie baby money....(damn it I'm stubborn) ...so if I plan on holding long term thru this anyway....why not buy on a discount from mtgox (assuming they will let me buy btc yet)

last time I sent money to Gox it took 13 days to process if that makes any difference..

ah but do they process you order on the time you ordered ....ie that bitcoin price...or do they wait till it clears?

if the $$ sit for 2 weeks then yeah bitstamp makes more sense I guess
