Hello guys. I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but I think it's interesting, for people who store paper/hard wallets in bank vaults :

Also - apparently the Russian government will begin, if they haven't started, raiding safety deposit boxes belonging to regular bank customers. Probably looking for USD and EUR cash

I fail to understand how BTC will ever shift from PoW to PoS, surely it's not even possible. What does that mean?

There will be no change, it's a crazy idea of people who don't even know how to define Bitcoin, let alone what POS would mean for Bitcoin. The proposed laws would not actually apply to all those cryptocurrencies that already exist and are traded or mined in the EU, but would in some way try to force them to start using green/renewable energy sources.

Quote
It also says that energy-intensive crypto assets that are already in use in the EU before the legislation comes into effect, will have to "set up and maintain a phased rollout plan to ensure compliance with such requirements" as specified in another part of the framework.

EU bureaucrats are not even able to read studies that clearly show how harmless Bitcoin mining is in the overall picture, let alone when it comes to the EU.

It's entirely possible to change Bitcoin from POW to POS. All you need is a law. The electrons in the algorithms rearrange themselves as soon as the bill is approved or the law is published - depending on the quantum level of electron compliance. The so-called "electron scare" factor. Scared electrons are reliable electrons and all that stuff.

Actually, given the level of understanding they are showing, it could be worth a shot to try and explain them that Bitcoin is already proof of stake! Those who stake the most hash power get to pick the transactions in the next block. Right?

It idles a little bit rough when it's cold, not much but enought to annoy me.
I'm also just curious to see if I can get better mileage.
I will change the plugs first and see if it makes any difference, I will drive at least to fill ups and see what mileage I get, and then I'll change the wires as well and do the same procedure.
The plugs should arrive at the end of the month, I might even make a video out of the changing.

There are definitely other things I would check first. Fuel delivery, distributor cap, compression probably the first among them.

Done that and much more, except the compression.

Think i was just tax-raped
Any legal contract requires at least two willing partys otherwise its a clear case of extortion.
The only legal tax is sales tax because the business owner has a legal working contract with the town/council and the fee (tax) he then adds to the sale price. Most tax money is used for war anyway.

I am having some troubles with your way of framing this matter, Tash...

One central issue seems to be that governments do not even feel that they need to tax in order to spend for war.. they will spend for war with printed money.. if they actually had to tax the people to pay for war, they would have to actually deal with disagreement from the plebs.. so an easier (and sneakier) way around actually taxing us is to just print money.. because even though printing money is a kind of tax.. it is much harder to identify as such.. and less likely that there is even going to be any kind of attempt, whatsoever, to seek consent.

You right, also some are taxes not called as such, like TV license, toll, fees and what ever.
So of to the Bitcoin standard it is.

No end to the insanity.

This is a subtle but fundamental point about war.

This article was linked here recently, can't be bothered to find where or by whom (but I think I spent one merit on that link). Re-posting it for relevance with JJG's spot-on statement.

You may want to sit down. I have some disturbing news.

I kind of get it but I also do not.  If you are the survivor of a post-nuclear world, then what are the actual chances you get to meet another survivor?  In that kind of world, not even seeds, banknotes or coffee is helpful anymore.

I suggest coffee still is, while admittedly more enjoyable in good company. But whatever, I see your point.

Indeed, coffee will be highly valued as it doesn't grow here and supply chains/routes will be devastated.

Good to see you again. Sounds like a trick question. Most of us won't get nuked to death but will rather die slowly after we run out of neighbors to eat, so at that point 1 BTC might well be worth a trillion USD but will buy only one pack of smokes. Also carving blocks on cave walls will be a real bitch.

OK, so, quick question. Let's say in the apocalypse, you have to kill some neighbors but your food situation is still looking good enough that cannibalism is still a strong taboo. Do you go ahead and prepare the meat for future eventualities anyway?

Asking for a friend.
