That sh!t is so manipulated by m-eLon that I wouldn't touch it too soon till it becomes more "honest". Or wtf that sh!t is supposed to mean, it needs to have a bigger market cap so sh!theadpricks like m-eLLon wouldn't and couldn't touch it even if he wanted to. Smiley  Roll Eyes

We can say that Bitcoin broke all the resistances one by one. After passing the 49000$ threshold, which is psychologically, it started to keep itself in the 50000$ band. Let's see what will happen after that.

That's why my plans after taking profit near the peak of this cycle includes an autonomous photovoltaic power supply for the house., maybe coupled with wind energy.

What about a propane or diesel home generator? Wouldn't that be an easier/cheaper solution?

Well, i was thinking about that too, but the neighbors would likely kill me for having this thing running for days (they use firewood) and i just can't sleep in noisy environments. It's a nightmare on intercontinental flights. As soon as i recognize the noise cancellation of the ears at the moment i'm falling asleep, i wake up because the absence of turbine noise is raising some kind of alert. Maybe i shouldn't have tried to forcefully stay awake for quite some time, in an episode of my past life. IDK  Huh

Sorry, drifting off topic a little...
The big plus of the PV cells is that you feed the unused power into the supply network, which saves and sometimes even generates some good amount of money.
It just has to be big enough to run the house on a semi-clouded day. A dry, floating room (room in a room), dug into the ground for a tank and generator that could run for days would cost much more, but this would be the minimum.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
Gotta tell you, I remember people thinking it was going to fall once Biden came in. Hasn't worked out that way which could mean Bitcoin is more than a disaster hedge.

See, I would take that as evidence that it is one Cheesy

BTC + Crossfit, living life.
Historically, good times come after inauguration: first at 2013, and then at 2017.

perfect. I especially like how the hastily added zeroes are glitching, fits the ethos of the gif and btc!!

I *wish* they were hasty. Smiley They are actually moving extremely smoothly. It's the underlying gif that's unstable.

We live close to a Fire Station, so I am attributing our continued power to that... but our house is old... really only insulted with rat skeletons, and we have had at least 2 pipes burst.  Finding a plumber here is... well... pretty much impossible right now.

Learning some basic plumbing is very worthwhile. As well as keeping some bits and pieces on-hand. Wherever we've had pipes burst before, I've put cutoffs so I can isolate those parts of the house when things get bad. Being without heat is one think (get an emergency heater too) but being without water will have you downright miserable.

Is this really you, Bob?  Grin

Faced with the prospect of freezing to death, you become pretty fucking cheery when the heat comes back on.

Long version:
(feel free to skip to the end)

We got power outages after heavy snowfall and/or storms (or much snow followed by rain) over here, about two times per winter. Normally they last 6-10 hours, because we're in an area where quite many households per square mile are supplied, at least for countryside measures, so these come first when the powerlines are repaired.
This winter we had a power outage lasting for two and a half day (!), because one of the two largest 380 Kilovolt lines ripped apart, which sends a shockwave between the neighboring poles to the left and right. They had to cut away and rebuild almost three quarter miles of power lines. Luckily, we live across the main street, which is the border of the two power supply zones. It were a good 10 hours without power, no hassle. We all got energy efficient houses, they keep the warmth inside a little longer, as long as you keep the doors and windows closed.

Now, three years ago, we had power outage number two (of the winter). No more than six hours BUT when the energy supply company switched the line on and off repeatedly, our heating system died (geothermal heat pump) and the support guy needed two days to get to us. A brilliant guy, he already pre-ordered the needed parts, or else we eould have to wait another 2 weekdays for the repair. Temperatures were just around freezing. Temperature went down a good 9 degrees inside, so we slept in sleeping bags with our clothes on.

So far so good, last summer the heating fucked off because a lightning hit near our house and killed the electronics through the outside temperature sensor. SARS-CoV-2 made the service companies half as quick and the brilliant guy already left for a better job. Now it took seven days (over the weekend) for the tech to show up, with nothing but his toolbox  Roll Eyes He needed almost two hours to know what to do and which parts to order. A VERY talkative dude, with little skill. He knew a shitload about cars, as i was forced to find out. It was friday again, so he showed up four days later with the parts and repaired the system SLOW AF.
I never seen a tech working this slow before. I swear you could watch him thinking!
If we suffer a defect in winter, we're fucked. We would have to move out for a while or freeze to death.
