It is teen ager so i think your Best friend is now allowing the child to learn from His own , but what you should ask is how your friend brought the youngster in to teen, if he had enough guidance and treatment then i think you are the only problem here, because what you think is bad in others it is normal or manageable .
so let Him have His family and do yours.

I am a strict Parent , actually both Me and my partner as we wanted them to grow differently from what we use to have.

My Father is a complete gambler and a drinker , and My partners parent are both gambler .

So we are trying to build a different ambiance for our children and if given a chance? we will never let them learn any form of gambling .

we all have our own views and style on how we wanted our children grown , but for me ? letting them to choose what to play is OK as long as i have teaching them what good should be the rightful way in having a game.
my eldest is also teenage and yes i keep am eye still in their activities specially in their gadgets .

That's their parenting and they should be more delicate about what their children are installing on their smartphones or with the laptops or desktop computers.

Yeah, there is a great need to keep an eye on our children because while growing up we were exposed to a lot of negative stuffs that mislead some of our forks but thank goodness we escape that stage and are now adults, but again even as an adult, we must learn to guide our actions and interest because not only children get addicted to gambling even some adults get addicted at some point.

We should educate our family members about the negative effect of gambling, especially with our Children because they can’t afford to expose on that since they can’t still handle their emotion. We should always guide them and tell that gambling is not good at all. I agree that we should also monitor our activities because too much is not good and you might lose a lot of money if you lose self control.

Im trying to get rid for them to access social media as early as 10 years old and same as yours im tending to allow them when they are on the right age for them to involved on but it seems they do really been influenced
by people around them specially into their classmates and friends which do really knows about social media where questions would really be asked by children whether they could able to access or not

Guidance is important from guardian or parent because this is where their kids should really know the reality even though we arent that perfect but at least we have done our responsibility.

We cant monitor them on perfect way as possible but it is really better that they are aware rather than into those kids who hadnt been taught by their parents.
Sometimes this is really depending on kids attitude and beliefs in life, on the right age they do able to determine on whats wrong at right.

Our community has a tight family bonding - and parent are very dominating and they are very dictating to. Unlike in west - where kids are free to choose what they will be doing - I our community most of the time parents choose what the kids will do. But now when young generation is becoming parent they are more understanding - but parental control is there. like always!

This is parenting problems, maybe people can give opinions based on their actual experiences as a parent not just for theory and future plans for their future child.

As an uncle who sometime babysits my siblings' toddler it is really good to guide and supervised them all the times in any kind of games they are playing, it might not about addiction but their safety to avoid dangerous things which place them to risks. It's okay to experience them how to be hurt while doing things as a toddler but tell them that is not okay for them yet or etc. Giving them toys that is only for their age, go to places that is good for their age and anything that is only good for their age.

If you get my point from babysitting to gambling or gaming. This always have parallel inlines, gambling is not good for children below 18 years old, playing in smartphones always has age limits on any kind of games or apps to be played or used. If you can check the game or app in the google play store, you can see that the app is Rated X according to what category/age it suits and a guardian you should not to overlooked it.

It is ideal to use with the children protection of the application or the device we are using this will restrict the children to access the adult websites and application at the same time its good too, also as possible if the children are using with your devices don't link your cards because they can possibly click those advertisements and makes unexpected transactions. Always make monitoring to the children's activity and of course bonding is the most important so they are open to you and both each other.
