I quite often see data from several social media, about minors being involved in online gambling games.
As the source below says.

Gambling and gaming: Children as young as 11 betting online
Quote
Children as young as 11 have problems with gambling, while almost half a million kids have admitted to betting regularly say the Gambling Commission.

Technology, android phones, laptops and internet access is very easy throughout the country, also one of the factors that causes minors to be involved in gambling, plus the lack of supervision from parents, reasons for freedom/following the times/models and slang.

From what i read in your topic, about your friend's kids getting involved in gambling, it's caused by parents spoiling their kids too much and don't care what their kids use android for.

Your friend just realized, if his child one day has a serious problem with immoral acts, that's where he just found out how important parents are in educating and controlling their children, Especially in the internet and online sites.

....What do you think about the situation above? Do you have any such situations like me before?

All parents experience this, we are living in an extraordinary time, very much different from what we've had in our youth, children nowadays are technology-driven and have a big drive for something new online.
They will eventually find these games that need money for upgrades that will eventually lead them to gamble and that is where we should keep an eye, parents need to keep their eye on what their children are doing online they have should full control over their child's behavior.

This has been a discussion for ages!

I had a similar situation with a few of my friends.... They constantly played "Police Man" with their kids and scrutinized everything they do... They were not allowed to be unsupervised on their phones and the parents inspected their phones on a regular basis.

Guess what happened.... They managed to buy burner phones from friends and did all the wrong things on those phones. (the friends kept the phones for them, when they are not at home)

The same kids left their home at the age of 18.... and one of them are now an alcoholic and the other one are addicted to porn and gambling. They could not wait to get out of the house to get their freedom... and once they got it... they went overboard with everything.  Roll Eyes

His son was as already a teenager, usually with that age they already know what they are doing and the parent don't have a control anymore if what content their kids are accessing but what is that game again your trying to say? my guess is that a summer time saga? because this game is an adult game and it was trending before.

A teenager can now work and there are online jobs available. They can earn money and they can use that money to buy in game items. No need to ask for their parent's money but if their parents are loving, they can give money to their kids. There is no problem on here but you are just paranoid and making it a big issue.
Teenagers are uncontrollable now due to easy access of internet nowadays. As long as the parents still able to monitor their children then it’s fine, playing online games at home is better than letting them go elsewhere that can make them more uncontrollable. As long as they keep their communications open and monitors their money, as well allowing their child to explore with their guidance is better.

A Bitcoiner chooses. A slave obeys.
Some time ago I visited my friend's house. We talked about many things because we had not seen each other for a long time. Besides us telling stories, he accompanied his son, who was already a teenager. His son is playing games on his cell phone and I got a glimpse of what games he played and he seems to be playing games he shouldn't be playing.

Then I asked my best friend how she watched her grown children. He replied that his children were able to choose what was good and bad for them and he just needed to say that playing games are okay as long as he doesn't lose track of time.

Then I asked again if the kids installed games they weren't supposed to play (but I didn't say the kids were playing those games). She replied that she sometimes checks her children's cell phones and asks what they are playing and that a parent should ask their child.

From here, I then asked myself, is that what we should do for our children, giving them the freedom to install whatever they want. Then there is another thing that sticks in my mind: if they want to buy something in the game because this type of game allows players to get rare items at low prices. They can ask for the money from their parents to buy that item.

Then, I also thought if this could cause symptoms of addiction to continue playing the game and later it could be accidentally, they see adult content such as pornography or gambling or others easily. The role of parents who give freedom to their children in using cellphones does not seem to be felt by those who are starting to grow up. I see that a teenager has started to be equipped with a smartphone.

What do you think about the situation above? Do you have any such situations like me before?

I think that children should not be "leashed" by their parents or any other authorative parent figures. This is because i believe that the kids should be allowed to make decisions and learn the consequences of those decisions. If they want to gamble, sure. But then when they lose their monthly allowance, I think that will make them think twice before gambling again.

A nagging parent only makes the situation worse without the child understanding between right and wrong. It only understands its being yelled at.

Life is the best teacher. Some of its lessons are a bit painful, but necessary.

Here in our country, we are in blended learning, where students are studying at home through the internet and through their tablets and cellphones, they learn a lot with their cellphones, they know about Playstore where they can access hundreds of games those games on Playstore are safe but they learn to upgrade and look further for more exciting games and that's where the risk comes in when they try to access games that are not on Playstore because these games offer a lot of perks and excitement that's what parents should watch out and look for, the source of the games and it's features.

This is extremely concerning, but it is not new for us. Due to technological advancement, I'm aware that many teenagers and minors are engaging in this behavior, and I believe that even if they are too young to have a phone, their parents are still providing them with phones for their enjoyment, and parents will forget that this would be detrimental to their health (physically and mentally), and that they are also engaging in activities such as playing 18+ games that they should not be playing it. The supervision of parents is essential at this time, as is the control of phone usage. However, this is difficult to implement because teens today are more advanced it than  their parents', making it easier for them to conceal their actions. What is preferable is to have a heart-to-heart conversation with them and try to persuade them to stay away from this, while also explaining the consequences of doing so.

From what you say, I am surprised that children can gamble with their cell phones. Porn is very easy to access but to play in fiat casinos they have to go through an age verification process to prove they are of age. The only exception I can think of to this is if they are playing in crypto houses that do not require KYC. But for that they should have bought crypto, and being children I don't think they have a lot of money or have bought in DEX, because in the CEX they are not required to have KYC.

So I don't really get your story, unless you give more details. But if the moral is that it is better not to expose children to gambling, I agree.

I think every parent will have their own way of supervising their children, whether growing children or teenagers. They may not be able to supervise every day but if they have been given lessons from an early age, their children will certainly be able to take care of themselves and not try things that might harm them. It depends on how parents can educate their children well and how close they are to their children. If their child has a problem or something, they can share it with their parents so hopefully, their child can find a way out of every problem because they get reasonable answers from their parents who may understand them better.

I don't restrict them into doing whatever they want on the internet. But, I always give them a warning or a heads up of what might happen should they access sites or install apps that are not suitable for their age. I have a kid that knows what a cockfighting match is, and already knows where to bet and how to bet. He tried to do it once and once his money all went down the drain, I refused to give him more and told him that that is the consequence of his actions, so I am not, in any way, responsible to him losing his allowance for the week. Since then, he never placed a bet anymore. He accesses the site to watch, yes, but his money no longer goes to the betting site.

You can't completely monitor them since they have access to the internet through browsers, youtube to installing games. As long as they are aware that there are bad things and good things to watch on youtube, they will also know you don't approve it. It reminds me of what I do when I was a kid.

My parents just don't monitor me when I was a kid, we steal fruits from the trees in the neighbor's backyard but we grew just fine with my brothers and friends. Times changed though because back in the days there was no internet yet. Social life of the kids today are twisted.

Well based on what I have understood on the OP post, this is very common and it has been discussed so many times on the [Gambling Discussion] board. You don't need to worry even if it will repeatedly advertise on TV shows or on any social media about gambling casinos, as long you are there [as a parent] who will be taking care of your children and tech them into a good manner and educate them about gambling, it is better them to be aware than they will be curious on such thing. We know young generations now are always wanted to explore everything that they heard --but, if we are always on their side and will guide, educate and teach them which bad or good, they will become a responsible person in the future.

Many of the cell phones these days are very popular among even the youngest children up to people in their 30s. Two of my cousins are 26 and 29 and both of them play a lot on their phone. Every time I see them they are playing. If they were below 16 this would be even more alarming. I like gaming myself, but only on the PC and not excessively. What should be alarming to the parents is that the kids not only invest a lot of time in these games, but also money. Via the cell phone monthly bill there can be a lot of ingame purchases be added to the account. By default this option is always activated, the parents need to explicitly request their children to be excluded from spending additional money. It's really sad that gambling industry is facing so much backslashes these days and is heavily regulated, but children of any age can play these games.

This is the reason why we must guide our children and always monitor their activities in the online world and with the use of their gadgets before when the technology does not catch too much attention of the children we didn't experience this kind of scenario, recently the gadgets and the applications use now with a child protection feature which not allowed the children to have this kind of searches for possible protection for the kid's minds. As early as a possible guide and prevent them.

Are you talking about freemium games of actual gambling games?
Unfortunately all mobile and computer games are designed to be addictive.
I've heard many horror stories of children getting addicted to freemium games and using their mom's credit card to buy lots of in-game items.
There's no easy solution to this problem.I guess that the only solution would be not buying a smartphone for your children. You simply can't control what they are downloading and installing on their phone.
If you forbid them to install certain games, that might actually have the opposite effect.

Well, it's the duty of parents to monitor their Kid's activities until they become an adult. Or else, they could face a huge consequence later in their life. Because in the era of digital progression, it is impossible to stop kids from installing random apps in their mobile phone so a monitoring mechanism is needed. This is serious!

Otherwise, there is a good chance that these kids will have messed up finances although their life due to their addiction and wrongdoings.

Children use smartphones to fill their activities if parents can't provide other activities then it will be an option for children to spend time, so if you don't want your children to play with smartphones then give them other activities to spend their energy so they are not interested in playing games on smartphones. I use parental controls on my niece's smartphone so she can only use them for a limited time, and occasionally checks to see what she has access to. But in the future parents will harder be able to prohibit children from using smartphones so giving education will help them.

The child is a teenager, which I suppose he/she is at the age of 14, who understands her/his own limits and what is good or harmful for her/himself.

If I were the kid, I wouldn't feel comfortable if my parents were continuously nagging me to see what I was up to on my phone or computer. I'd like complete privacy. The only thing a parent can do for his or her child is open up about difficult topics, especially if they are related to sex, gambling, addiction, internet safety, and so on, and highlight the risks involved.

When it comes to gambling, there must be an open dialogue about the dangers of losing money and how it might affect your mental health. This is also true in games, where children and teenagers are growing addicted to in-game purchases.

I think it depends on how you let the kid grow? My first exposure to pornography was on a TV show my father was watching, I honestly didn't even think much about it. Even when I grew up, that certain event certainly did not influence me to do anything wrong or illegal. Same with gambling. I was kinda hyped up for it when I first played it, my first experience was when I was in Highschool, I played with my schoolmates with money involved. I ofc lost a bunch, but after that short time adrenaline just, well, died down. So yea, it's really subjective on a person-to-person basis.

As long as the parent doesn't necessarily spoil the kid all the time, like knowing when to say no and when to say yes, I think they'd be fine.
