I guess this refers to the problem of gambling in adolescents.

The first thing we have to ask ourselves is why do teenagers gamble?
I have the hypothesis that they do it to be trendy and have fun.  A huge percentage of teenagers see gambling as a normal part of everyday life. And gambling advertisements convey the message that gambling is a fun, exciting and fast way to get rich. For teenagers, it is all too easy to think: ‘This is what I should be doing’ and ‘It can’t hurt me, can it?’

But we need to help prevent teenage gambling problems by talking about gambling, encouraging other activities instead and protecting teens and young people from the harms of gambling. First, we can teach them about responsible gambling. Secondly, we can raise awareness of how easy it is to get hooked on gambling. Your attitude to gambling can influence your child's behaviour. It is important to talk to your children about why gambling is bad for them. At the same time, it is important not to condemn your children. You should give them information so they can make up their own minds.

This should be done gradually and with sensitivity, because teenagers are often influenced by their peer group. Once they have the correct facts, they should start to make sensible decisions about how they spend their leisure time. In short, you should set the right example for your children and encourage them to build healthy habits.

....What do you think about the situation above? Do you have any such situations like me before?

All parents experience this, we are living in an extraordinary time, very much different from what we've had in our youth, children nowadays are technology-driven and have a big drive for something new online.
They will eventually find these games that need money for upgrades that will eventually lead them to gamble and that is where we should keep an eye, parents need to keep their eye on what their children are doing online they have should full control over their child's behavior.

Even keeping an eye on kids doesn't keep them away from the game, because now technology has become so easy that you can't stop them if they want to play. I have no children but I have a teenage brother whom I could not keep away from playing online games despite my best efforts, now he is so addicted to games that he is busy with games only day and night. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. However, playing online games in this way can also gamble.
^ That is the problem there is they already exploited or let say, they are already addicted, you can never stop them from with that matter but possible you can divert their attention into other activity like playing sports which are highly recommended. Try to search for parenting control in your internet provider, you can set a limit on when they will be connected to the internet without knowing them, and maybe they will think that your internet provider has a trouble because they can't able to connect.

We must teach our children the value of time, money and effort. Otherwise they can fall into wrong path easily and it might be damage their next 5-10-15 and even their life. Gambling is required some kind of patience and intelligence skills luck isnt enough only.
I am not sure about other community - but in our community parents have a  very strict  check on their kids. Even if kids play adult games they do it in hidden.
But replying to OP - I think the mobile phone and internet time should be controlled. Giving kids freedom of everything is inviting trouble!
I also have a strict parents and even my relatives, they don’t let their Children to expose much of their time on their mobile phones which I think is really good, I’m also living on a country where we don’t tolerate much of this thing but sometimes, things are really uncontrolled by the parents. Proper guidance is the key here, if they get exposed on gambling that could be a big trouble for the whole family.
Just avoid them on things which you do seem that would really potentially affect their future. It might not really be that perfect since we cant monitor them 24/7 and now that we are on a digital age where
everything could easily be accessed out which means that they are really that prone into different things not only on gambling but also in pornography which is something not that really
good to see if our kids do really make out some engagement like that.

As parents, keeping them under tight control can be both beneficial and harmful. Of course, it is impossible to keep them 7/24 under control. Neither they nor we are robots. That's why they needs our guidance to keep forwarding on right path. If we give them the right clue, they can come to the right conclusion by themselves.

The problem with parenting is that you can't have one correct answer for every child and parent. Like doing X could work for me, and may not work for you but doing Y could work for you but not for me. Each parent is different, each child is different and you would have to be approaching them differently. A kid I raise may not be similar characteristics as a child you raise, and I would have to do one thing to keep them off from gambling all they have (if they want to gamble small amounts I would be fine with it since I do that too) but you would have to do something else. It is never just one correct answer for all parents to use for their children hence we will never get any responses that work for all of us.

I currently have 2 kids, and my biggest concern is that both of my children saw pornography and engaged in gambling when they were minors...

controlling your child's smartphone today is the duty of parents, children can't yet distinguish between good and bad so they think it's something their parents don't forbid as long as their parents know it, even though it's a bad thing, it can be tolerated. The child's future will be ruined when he finds out about gambling and pornography when they are minors.

I think it is a social, cultural, moral issue, although the collateral of betting is the eternal addition that is always associated with it.

It is a rigged topic, absolutely confronted before, anyway each case is individual, both in which it corresponds to the infants and to the representatives, we live a permissible scale where the traditional parameters of upbringing and trust have been transformed, but not the moral, that is non-negotiable and when a father understands that and his son too, the future comes with a good chance that nothing bad will happen, at least in the idea that you put forward.

There is also a change on how the game works. Before all games are free to play but now almost all games are now paid or you need to pay to enhance your character and to increase your chances of winning. There was a thread here before about loot boxes in games and on how they are related to gambling. You don't what you are going to get inside those boxes but just like in a typical gambling, the more you play the more chances you will get the ultimate prize.

Lately I've been hearing complaints of parents that their mobile wallets were drained, they thought they got hacked but eventually they found out that it was deducted from the game that they kids are playing. This is alarming !

I think that parents are often caught in the same technology trap these days and some may find it hard to find a balance. It was easier 30 years ago when there were no smart phones with access to all sorts of instant distractions available. Even from an early age it is far too easy to download gaming apps to serve as a distraction to babies, toddlers and children which can be a simple way out if they're acting particularly unruly. There is no easy answer to this question and it does really come down to how well prepared the parents are to steer a new life through this increasingly hectic world. Trying to reduce technology usage (at least in terms of smart phones or tablets) is a very good thing in the early years because kids should be outside, exploring, playing games in the real world and getting exercise as much as possible.

I am a married man with kids and I can honestly understand and relate to what op is talking about, giving kids that kind of freedom is clearly dangerous for their growth, such attitude as your friend @op, is how children get addicted to phones at their tender age, and from there, they are exposed to pornography and all sort of immorality which eventually leads to other form of addictions like addiction to porn and masturbation, gambling addiction and many others.
We should really watch it with our children, advice your friend to retrace her steps else, she's definitely going to destroy that child.
Depends actually because there are kids which are really good in self control where they are fully aware on whats good or bad even though they do lack that parenting guidance but still they do able to

handle things out on their own which is really not that impossible but of course most of the time, kids do usually lost their track specially if they do get influenced by someone which is really that likely
to happen and as a family man or parents of those kids then it would really be just be your responsibility on guiding them on the right way since we do have experience then it is really normal for
us to teach them on what things that should be avoided.

This is an age old topic and there are plenty of solutions available all over the Internet op. We now have parental controls, 2FA etc which help solve these issues to a large extent.

Personally, I would advise anyone below 18 about the negative consequences of gambling in order to help them understand how it could mess them up in both the short-term and the long-term.
If we are looking for a truly permanent solution, it is back to state policy. if a country does not legalize gambling then automatically addiction for children will be greater and have a bad impact. However, if the government's policy is permanent and eradicates gambling sites that enter the territory of the country, the chances are minimal for children to be able to access them easily. In addition to the role of parents, the environment, peers, and places where children hang out are the forerunners to where they know to gamble. The ads that a platform allows to appear and are not restricted also have a big impact. Parental control and government regulations are one things that can prevent it all.

Well am not against the introduction of kids to video gaming as we see it as fun to play but the one that kids will make financial involvement is what am not in support of their are video games for educational purposes and this is good for our kids as it increases their mental capacity, but it is advisable to watch over the activities in other to help avoid addictive games

Bitcoin is GOD
This has been a discussion for ages!

I had a similar situation with a few of my friends.... They constantly played "Police Man" with their kids and scrutinized everything they do... They were not allowed to be unsupervised on their phones and the parents inspected their phones on a regular basis.

Guess what happened.... They managed to buy burner phones from friends and did all the wrong things on those phones. (the friends kept the phones for them, when they are not at home)

The same kids left their home at the age of 18.... and one of them are now an alcoholic and the other one are addicted to porn and gambling. They could not wait to get out of the house to get their freedom... and once they got it... they went overboard with everything.  Roll Eyes
This is why it is more important to explain why it is such a bad idea for kids and teenagers to do something like this and we need to explain them the consequences of those actions if they decide to engage on them rather than to be all over them and try to control them in such a way, as it is likely to produce the results that you mention.

At the end of the day even if parents love their children at some point they need to let them go and allow them to make their own mistakes, if too much emphasis is given to always monitor them and take decisions for them then they will do everything they can to get rid of that discipline as soon as they can and then take outrageous decisions as they were never given any trust by their parents.

From what i read in your topic, about your friend's kids getting involved in gambling, it's caused by parents spoiling their kids too much and don't care what their kids use android for.

Your friend just realized, if his child one day has a serious problem with immoral acts, that's where he just found out how important parents are in educating and controlling their children, Especially in the internet and online sites.

The parents are not aware of the harm, if they are they will restrict their children, that is why it's important for parents to know how the internet works, how to use the internet, and be very familiar with gaming sites and gambling sites so they will know if their kids are visiting or already hooked on gaming, parents should be ahead on their kids when it comes to the internet.
