There's always aetherium( https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/rfc-aethereum-a-turing-complete-coin-distributed-as-per-bitcoins-blockchain-563925 ) or similar attempt. I guess there's no need to waste your precious bitcoin.

2,780,359 ETH sold.

If they sell it at 2000 ETH per bitcoin, that mean they have around 1390 bitcoin (around 800k usd) to do whatever they want.

So, the question, what do they do with these kind of money and why they need that much?

They need the money to retire on.   Roll Eyes

you have 2 week to think about it before they become more expensive.
you have 41 days to think about it before you can't buy them until their genesis block goes live.
The funniest thing I've seen all day is Mircea Popescu selling Ether futures, 5000/btc deliverable 2015-03-15.

Why buy altcoins when you can make your own out of bitdust with Chromawallet? Damnedcoin is soon to IPO using your own bitcoin dust.

lol everytime i see an altcoins launching i'm laughing hard...

Do you noobs realize they're essentially making btc out of this? So they sell their ultimate coins for BTC and guess what noob? so they can hold more btc. All ppl behind these projects are already btc rich. If they truly believe their alt coins are.... "bitcoin2.0" they would have dumped their btc.

Someone should really do a research on how many btc "lost" to all the altcoins project. Also their favorite victims are the "early btc adopters" who are already btc rich.... throwing 1-10 btc to every alt coins project is nothing right? LOL

but what if you're wrong about this one?   Cool

When you read some of the terms of the investment, it looks like things could go sideways very easily.   It says that a lot of the people have been doing a lot of the work on a volunteer basis (kudos to them), but there really isn't any accountability on how the invested BTC is spent/allocated (unless I didn't see that part).

I'm trying to figure out if i should buy some or not! what do you guys think?

https://www.ethereum.org/

i read their paper early on seems pretty interesting, correct me if i am wrong, but the total amount of ether ever created is not capped?  because of this i think i will probably pass on "investing" in this coin, but i might check up on it every so often to see how its faring.

you can't trade them until then, so you're taking a huge risk.
I like ethereum and I think those guys deserve some credit for what they've accomplished sofar, but I want to see any of those tokens stand the test of time before I am putting any money in stuff like MSC, NXT, XCP, ETH etc...

fuck that

can you explain why?  I like more info than just "fuck that"

After every presale and release i've seen the price went down every time (and eventually the coin died).

Also if they had confidence in their ''revolutionary coin'' they wouldnt do a presale, especially a presale in BTC, the only true crypto.

Why would they want BTC if their crap was better ?

What i see is the same old alt coin scam.
