Bitcoin is like the central bank in the cryptocurrencies world and because of that there is know how people and investors will not prefer it to others coins.
I think it is more popular and strong than altcoins.

The simplest reason is that Bitcoin is safer than the altcoin. The altcoin is very new and will be riskier than Bitcoin. Bitcoin has existed in this world in 2009 and is still growing and well-supported in 2018. Maybe in the future, the crypto market will only survive two coins, that is bitcoin and ETH

I believe investments in Cryptos are the priority for beginners. But most people like Bitcoin since it’s obvious, so are you like that? And if so then what’s the reason for your investment? My reason is that the potential is huge in this as compared to some others, but I do know that higher amount is required to gain more.

There are many reasons to choose bitcoin over altcoins but the most obvious is that many altcoins are simply scams and even if I were to earn money with alts I will be worried that the coin goes to zero while I'm holding it, and since I already have enough worries in my life I'm not going to add even more worries when what I want out my investments is that they gave security to me. What's going on under everyone's noses right now is Bitcoin slowly gaining a level of legitimacy that can't be matched. Look at every other top 20 coin, let alone what's below them. Most are either centralised, broken, non existent, creaking or have 100% separate aims.
These days you can't get a coin listed on Binance without including the sodding CEO's phone number so they can call for a nice chat in case of a problem. There is not and never will be a Bitcoin equivalent. That's why it's only getting more powerful from here on out.
Apart from Litecoin and a handful of others, nothing else can even be bothered to attempt to uphold Bitcoin's core characteristics.
Big market dicks know this. Other coins are toys with the potential to explode in your face at any moment.

In the fact that we make a lot of money from Altcoins, not Bitcoin. But because Bitcoin is the first electronic currency to be recognized as a miracle. So many people are still more passionate about Bitcoin than Altcoin .

It is not really complicated to know why people prefer to invest in bitcoin than to invest in altcoins, most altcoins are either copies of another project or just useless coins created to enrich the developers and nothing more, so even if bitcoin is expensive and it cannot give you profits like an altcoin could, the profits you can get out of bitcoin are still incredible, just last year if you you bought in January of 2017 and sold in December of 2017 you could have gotten 20x your investment, do you know how long you would need to wait to get those kind of profits in real estate or stocks? You will never get those profits with stocks and you will be lucky to get those profits with real estate in 20 or 30 years. Another reason is the fact that it is very popular and also can sometimes be accepted by some merchants as payment for goods.
No one uses Bitcoin to pay for the goods because every bitcoin transaction takes a lot of time to verify. Most Bitcoin is no longer as anonymous and people are tending to use XMR for commercial purposes as it is unregulated or can use XRP to pay for because the technology of ripple is being made by many banks applyAnother reason is the fact that it is very popular and also can sometimes be accepted by some merchants as payment for goods.
It can be used if it's a P2P transaction similar to the barter model. Sure, it's not that practical, but it still functions quite well if someone is making larger payments once in a while, such as for services rendered.
It may not be perfectly anonymous, but it's not easily traceable either. If you did something illegal with it, I'm sure they would go through the effort to find you without hesitation. But if there's no active reason to target you, they can't exactly go around trying to dig up who is behind every transaction. There's way to much data to swim through. That's why some people can use it to send money for small-medium transactions abroad and avoid having to claim it.

So, I guess almost everyone agrees that Bitcoin is rightly the preferred choice. But it is also pretty obvious that one got to keep eye on all the latest news in order to actually gain consistently. If we close our eyes completely and start thinking it will work then it will not. I as I mentioned prefer only a few sites and one is AsiaCryptoToday, it is a pretty awesome site to be looking at for getting regular news.

Altcoins are fine if you feel like risking your money for high returns but I would always keep a large chunk of my money in bitcoin because you know its stable and can be trusted.

Actually when I invest in bitcoin instead of altcoins, I do that to protect my funds because I don't doubt it will be higher in the future but there is lots of risk with altcoins.
Like you, I also like keeping my funds in BTC this is mainly due to the fact that it has more resistance to dips. Unlike altcoins that can dip 10-20% per day, it even goes down as low as 40% loss in a week. Now, that's outrageous. With bitcoin the are between 1-7 and that's more than enough time to tether my holdings. Altcoins are just too risky. It can go side ways, 100% up or 60% down.

In fact they are an opportunity to make quick profits and are an opportunity for all people. for example, you have 1 btc and you go to the altcoins section and search on some altcoin that will have some good news able to boost the price in 2X and if you find an altcoin that has good news able to boost the price you buy and sells when you have 2X profit. the altcoins have this advantage, but also have major drawbacks. Bitcoin also has advantages and disadvantages
