I am using ETH to hold for a little while and if it goes up, then I will sell. But, for the most part, I use my ETH to pay the gas fee when I am converting my tokens to FIAT. I only convert my tokens when I badly needed money. When the time comes that I have my stable job, I would invest some of my money to ETH and hodl until it goes up and up.
The ether is a common currency in the cryptocurrency world. Although its value is not stable enough, it can be used anywhere and its liquidity is very good. So you can use it to do everything.
Mostly I use to participate in ICO. A bit to trade and part of keep in hold. Constantly I buy, when the price decreases. I consider ETH a very promising investment.
I use ETH for long-term investment. I think that it has good prospects to grow in the future in price

Accumulating ETH will give more profit since most of ICOs or other projects require ETH to start up. ETH also can be used in money transactions online, pay bills and store of value.
Currently, I use my ethereum for trading and long term investment because it is a very good coin for hold and I can make reasonable profit from it when the price rise higher than it was when I bought it. I buy when the price is very low and sell when it is high enough for me to make profit.
Better to hold ethereum if you are not in emergency case. There is no reason to sell if you still survive your daily needs soundly. Ethereum will become great in it's time destination. Hold and wait for the perfect timing.

Well, I also look my ETH as a form of investment and for trading. ETH has the potential on being the number 1 coin. Many have said that it can even surpass btc in the future.
I use my Eth for long term investment, and also to do trading. I have keep 1 eth last year 2017 and hold it for about six months, and I gain more profit, I am still doing it until now, still holding because the market price still haven't come back yet its high peak.

Although yes, I am buying some promising tokens like Golem, Mana, Storm, EOS, Lunyr as they are cheap right now. It is better than holding ETH. When these projects will progress, their token prices will also increase, even if ETH price does not increase.
ETH will increase as it has inherent value that is diversified enough to stay relevant, but I'd also geuess that those assets you mendtioned have more upside.
I have been using ethereum for trading and short term investment. As many altcoins are ethereum-based, one is required to use the coin to buy or sell other coins. Besides, I think ethereum is a good investment and carries a huge potentiality to grow over time. I am also planning to buy more and hodl for a while.
We can say that Ethereum is one of the most versatile coin ever created. It has already become a basis of other Alternate Coins for their own values. Some uses Ethereum as transaction fees and some Hold Ethereum and wait for it to increase its value. I personally use Ethereum as transaction fees in small values.

as long as i'm here i've used ethereum as an ico investment and turned it into fiat but with current market circumstance i plan to make ethereum as a long term investment

I used more ETH a few months ago for cheap transaction fees and shipments! But from the moment that there was a strong appreciation, I stopped using! I believe that ETC is the focus of people as an investment once it is underestimated!
