I think Laptops are not one good tool for mining coins, even though they have very good specifications, it is not a good idea to do mining with these laptops, it is better to use a PC that already has certain specifications for mining

Hello,

I have two laptops with good specs eating dust. I thought to set them to work as nodes or miners or something like that. See if it's worthwhile.

The specs of my best laptop are i7, 16 GB RAM, 1.xx GHz, Windows 10. The other is a 4GB RAM laptop. I think it's i5, but I don't know the exact specs from the top of my head.

I'm a newbie in staking and mining and I don't want to install Ubuntu or Linux. I'm not an IT guy.

It can be leading or non-leading coins. That doesn't matter.

Does anyone have tips and suggestions about where to start and what to mine?

Thanks in advance.
Frankly speaking, You should not mine with Laptops. Your device will loose its age very rapidly. Also, You will really crappy hash speeds untill you have at least a 1060 or above, I would recommend to not utilizing workstation for mining regardless of whether you have the best config accessible since the impacts and the heap it will put on your PC would affect it definitely

You can try mining BANANO https://bananominer.com/ this is a fork of NANO or MRAI and it's already in the market
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/banano you can mine using FOLDING AT HOME where you canEarn BANANO by contributing to medical research.

If Nano reaches $32 I don't see any reason why this coin will not reach all-time high, so mine while it is cheap.
Not a worthy thing to spend on even if this is just a browser mining but wont really be worth for it to run on background. I tested it out and give out 7000-8000 BAN per day @$0.00193676
Checked on that Coingecko current price which is roughly $13 but well this amount wont really be that big but for those people who do like to earn some pennies then this suggestion
would be a considerable thing but take note that this uses up 60-70% of your cpu power.

I'm not considering the price now, but it's potential in the future, I have a similar experience with MRAi and this is the new Mrai that I'm hoping to give me huge profit in the future, I'm trying to mine as many Bananos I can, and this is for the future.

You mean ~$13 a day? So for mining on the processor is a lot. As the all of this suspicious profitable. I checked, but did not see where there to see how many coins I have and how to withdraw them. I do not like when the browser is embedded some miner...

I highly recommend mining coins that are already in the market and easy to mine, yes you can mine these coins using your browser or through folding@home .

These two coins are https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/banano and https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/jsecoin/

You can mine even if you have a lower spec because they are browser base

Yeah sure, if you want miniscule profits you can mine the coins that are already in the market and that are easy to mine. If you want possible better and/or more riskier profits I suggest to start to mine the newest coins.

If I had notebook like yours I would draw attention to Veil,  namely, the possibility of POS minting. As for today with 13K coins in the wallet you could get as many as 50 coins per day (~ $20), the  passive income which is not bad as for me.

I really don't think mining with laptop is economical besides it will end up damaging the CPU of the laptop. I understand electroneum was been mined by phones, but at the long run, it wasn't economical.

The best way to make money on mining on a laptop is to sell a laptop, buy a mining farm Smiley
either just buy tokens on exchange

if you want to mine something on your CPU then it's better for you to look for new coins for mining. New coins are good for the CPU. The characteristics of your GPU I have not seen. Another option is this POS mining. For this you need to simply install wallet coins and this wallet will bring a large amount of coins that you are going to mining.Your laptops must always be included.

I suggest you to build rig if you want to mine, laptop isn't good to mine and it can harm your laptop.
From what I know build rig isn't cheap, but if you really want to start mine it's worth to try if you have the money

The only way you can use laptops is for a staking. So i suggest to pay  attention on PoS coins. It doesn't require a heavy  loading for processor,  the consumption of energy also is relatively low, just like for a regular laptop's work.  But PoS requires a certain amount of coins on your wallet, so you should be ready to buy them.
As for me, i prefer new, non-leading coins. Usually there are more stakes in the beginning, and also new coins have more chance to a price growing.  For example, you may take a look on Veil or MB8. Or, browse this forum for other PoS  coins, there are a lot of them.

It is not advisable to mine with laptop.  I have tried before but it doesn't worth it.  I could remember mine about a month and end up with around $4 worth of coins.  I have to quit because after spending some much in energy I was at loses.

You are right. It's a non worthy fruitless venture . It actually fried a friends laptop while mining Monero and co. He is saving up to set up a mining rig which will be installed before quarter three of 2019.

Even you have good specs of your laptops still better to mine using gpu don't risk your laptops to it as your laptop will only end to not functioning well and will never use it again.

But OP was asking what he could mine with the laptops he already has (and isn't using). If he has to spend money to buy GPUs to mine, this whole discussion here makes no sense.

Not really worth it to be honest. Maybe if another HDD mining coin comes, then maybe but its really not worth burning the laptop as you will not gain anything from it. If the laptops are lying around you might make more money by just selling them lol

I think mining with laptops isn't advisable since it would mine too slow and might consume more than what you could earn. You might just waste your time and energy because it will take time for you to earn through that. However, if you're eager to mine, you could look for minable altcoins but I'm sure that they are non-valued coins so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Minning bitcoin can be slow and time consuming with little profit.  So i will advice that you look into minning altcoin that are undervalued, where you can mine large quantity with less stress

Many now well-known coins started with mining at the CPU, for example, Monero, DarkCoin (now DASH), Quark and others. Of the latter, a good profit was given Verium, Raven.
