As I've said before, bitcoin becomes worthless as soon as you get outside of a wifi field. But if the entire internet of things is down, well, I think we have more important issues than bitcoin at that moment.

The Internet can go down if there is no electricity any more. For example there is a TV show exploring this concept where people live in a post-apocalyptic world with no electricity trying to survive.

I just came here to laugh,look at all the shit posts around.Didn't expected it to be this bad.If the internet goes down,there would be no transactions at all,what would miners do? Sit idle until there is a transaction to hash ? Bitcoin network would still be alive and the coins would remain right where they were until the internet comes back.

Yes but the data doesn't,its stored on servers ,once the internet is back ,everything could be retrieved.yeah, that is right the servers will have all the data and the developers will try to establish a new network and will use that servers data to give every person his bitcoins and will once again give a life to the world of bitcoin.
The only problem would then be is whether internet would stay down or not, but it's highly unlikely that the internet would stay down for a long time as communication is now vital to humanity's survival.

well i think you are more or less right about it, internet is really important in all of our lives, i think and bitcoins without the internet pretty much cannot exist though thats just what i think 
bitcoin production would surely go down but after the war ended it could start to grow again it would depend on those who still believe and a fanatic of it. But as of now lets just hope it would not happen

given the cayos happening in the world i wouldn't be surprised of nuclear war and in this case i would expect internet disruption question is what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down?

This questions that are very unique. I think if the internet is down, then bitcoin will not be able to operate. In other words bitcoin will not be used, because the bitcoin system using the Internet. But maybe satoshi have another idea to resolve this

I think if the Internet went down, btc wouldn't stop existing. We'll still have it potential existence. I think it's comparable to the biological virus when it is not active in the organism. It is sort of dead but then can suddenly become alive.
if the internet goes down . bitcoin forum or thread is pretty affected because if you use bitcoin you need more andmore internet connection to use it ..
Yes very affected because you can not access online and all online transactions will be disappear and all of us will do manual transaction even in the banks.We will go in the years without internet, using gold and silver as currency.
If internet goes down bitcoin will probably be the least of your problems. If something taht big happens and its consequences are capable of bringing internet down on a worldwide level then I guess you should worry for other staff more than what you do for cryptocurrencies. Having said that, I believe that even in the worst case senario , since the technology behind internet is now available to all, local-small lan networks will always survive. And who knows btc could be used there.
i think its not possible. in present time as the world is about 70% depending on internet. so we can say that if the internet goes down it will certainly effect and disturb the whole world.
yeah well said ! if also internet goes down then its not possible to go internet down in the whole world but in some places and which can't stop peoples from using bitcoins

Pretty much this is true, if internet goes down bitcoin network will collapse (we are talking about the global internet shutdown here). Furthermore in transaction like payment online or remitances, as stated, when bitcoin network collapse all the transaction will be at halt. So no remittances, even all sort of online transaction will stop.

Well, this is partially a good news
Now we just need to figure out on how to get a surviving Computers and Internet Connection and the most important part, the bitcoin wallet itself
If we have a physical wallet chances are it will still survive the nukes, say goodbye to your coins if you have the online wallet option because most likely it will get blown up in the first place

Of course it would not only effect the Bitcoin because Bitcoin is not the only thing that makes use of the internet, Internet these days is to important to get red off so it would be a problem if the internet got down.
It would not only affect Bitcoin but all the transactions made throughout the world who uses Internet. The communication would be slowed down similar to previous decades or years that we would like back t Telegraph or telephone lines which would be a hassle in everyone of us. I can't imagine a world without Internet especially to these high tech generation.
