I have bought 1 oz. of silver from Coinabul. Still waiting for delivery.... US first class international mail is not really a "first class" service.

Bought with BTC: Honey caramels, Tobacco accesories, some spiced nuts, gourmet coffee, a 100-BTC physical savings bar, Black Ops 2 steam key, a platinum rated PSU, a 180GB SSD, 3 bASIC pre-orders.

Pretty much broke now.

I'm curious if anyone has seen any big "legitimate" uses for which bitcoin has a clear advantage over standard fiat money. I've been dabbling in bitcoin for a little while now and would love to see it grow, but as I talk to people about it, it's been hard to see how it will find a mainstream use in a developed country. I'm really wondering about this more from a transactional perspective as opposed to using it as a hedge against inflation, etc.

2 or 3 deals I made were be costly without bitcoin: for honey and tea  for example I spent few dollars, and a International wire transfer will cost more than the transaction, paypal fees and conversion are near 10% for small imports (3,4%+0.35€+2.5% of conversion from € to $, even moneybroker or other similar services have a cost over 6-7%.
Credit card for shop (at least in Italy) have a fixed monthly cost, plus a % of your transaction, plus a fixed flat. On small transaction (10-20€) the cost of the fees is over the earning of the shop keeper: here bitcoin can do the difference.

One thing I could think of, is cash remittance if you have relatives abroad you need to send money to. You don't have to pay huge fees on payment processors or bank institutions for transferring your money from country to country if you choose bitcoins.
