There is no doubt that the competition between these two cryptocurrency is going to be very though in upcoming years and the growth and improvements which we can see in Ethereum network is a plus point of Ethereum and it's my estimate the upcoming four of five years will decide that these two are going change the place from each other.

It might happen one day, but I do not think it will happen in the nearest years. Ethereum has a better technology and more features if to compare with Bitcoin, but BTC is used as a store of value while ETH price is quite unstable, so many investors choose Bitcoin.
Indeed it doesn't matter now if ethereum has an edge against bitcoin in terms of capabilities but the fact that bitcoin has establish its name and proven itself to people for years ethereum has still a long way to go in order to beat, dethrone or replace bitcoin but honestly i don't thinm ethereum will, it can go near bitcoin but it won't give us what bitcoin can so still bitcoin will prevail and investors will still see bitcoin shines more than any cryptocurrency out there.

Do you remember 2017? Bitcoin dominance and Ethereum dominance had almost reached the same level. Ethereum dominance was about to go one step ahead. But bitcoin made an overwhelming move. He sent all the altcoin prices down. I think bitcoin will remain the leader for a long time.

I also think so, that Bitcoin will continue to dominate the market. I believe both of them are the best and for both the blockchain certainly has their respective advantages. But it is also possible for ethereum to replace Bitcoin, because in this crypto space anything can happen.

Okay, there are advantages and disadvantages for both bitcoin and ethereum. Ethereum has a stronger infrastructure and is able to do much more than Bitcoin for every change. Yet Bitcoin is the first coin on the crypto market that emerged, it has the highest capitalization and the cornerstone for the entire crypto industry is laid. And, in the near future, I don't think it will happen. Maybe that's a good thing because bitcoin is what brings real profit.
all do there are many use of ethereum but the trust of investors right now is loosing  and besides there are many platform now created the same as ETH . So tin reality theres no way for ethereum to replace BTC even in the bull market the price of ETH is too far campare to BTC.

Exactly. Both blockchain networks (ETH and BTC) have their respective advantages and disadvantages from one another. While Bitcoin is extremely useful for decentralized finance, Ethereum is not as reliable as Bitcoin is. The world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap has other uses for the mainstream world far beyond that of finance. It was designed to have an inflationary supply and faster transaction confirmation times for the benefit of smart contracts. But Ethereum has far lesser security than Bitcoin itself. People can simply use among various blockchain networks available depending on their own needs. For some people, Ethereum is better than Bitcoin because of quicker transaction speeds and lower fees than Bitcoin itself. For others, Bitcoin is better than Ethereum because of its censorship-resistant and decentralized nature.

Considering how big Bitcoin has become since its inception, it looks very unlikely Ethereum will be able to take its place in the future. Still though, crypto behaves in strange and bizarre ways. For once, Ethereum was very close to overcoming Bitcoin in terms of market cap. But the bear market and the fall of ICOs have greatly undermined Ethereum's price across the market. As of now, Ethereum stands far away from Bitcoin in terms of market cap. But in terms of technicalities, it's still in the lead. All in all, both cryptocurrencies are complements to each other instead of an actual replacement. Just my thoughts Grin

I am a huge fan of Ethereum (you can tell by my handle!) and think its transition to proof of stake will revolutionize finance, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it will replace bitcoin. Bitcoin has the first-mover advantage and as difficult as it may be for most altcoin bagholders to admit, they need bitcoin to succeed because the whole crypto space depends on bitcoin. If bitcoin fails, this will set the industry back maybe five or 10 years, as Ivan on Tech says. I personally believe in diversification, so I like Ethereum, bitcoin, stocks, gold, and other forms of investments.

Do I think there is a remote possibility Ethereum can overtake bitcoin? Of course! But this would require mainstream adoption. It would require major institutions to suddenly back Ethereum, and for Ethereum to be promoted everywhere by all of the major banks. I think Ethereum will be big, but I think bitcoin will always be bigger. I could be wrong tho!

Ethereum is really so strong and probably can replace Bitcoin someday, but that's not gonna happen easily as we know that Bitcoin is really so strong and it's the first crypto thought.

Would you buy rather Ethereum than Bitcoin? Would you rather invest into a coin with many CEOs that hold a lot of coins? Would you rather invest into a coin with big inflation and unlimited supply? Would you rather invest into a coin that already removed approved transaction.

It will not be a problem if in the future ethereum can replace bitcoin because we know ethereum has great potential about it. There is nothing more to worry about these two coins, although later there will be replaced but that does not mean something negative will happen because after all the development of great efforts and ideas will produce a better reputation.
And what can Ethereum replace bitcoin with? These are completely different types of coins with their specific functions. Therefore, ethereum will always be ethereum, and bitcoin will remain bitcoin.
Ethereum will not be able to rise to the level of the price of bitcoin or to its level of capitalization. However, over time, bitcoin can drop in price and capitalization, and it is possible that ethereum can bypass bitcoin in these respects.

Ethereum, being the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has all the potential of replacing Bitcoin in the future. It's more than just a cryptocurrency, being a platform for the development and execution of smart contracts (aka dApps). With ETH, it's possible to launch alternative cryptocurrencies without the need to start a Blockchain from scratch. It's also possible to use the ETH blockchain for other purposes such as voting, proof of identity, verification of documents, and more. In contrast, Bitcoin's only use is for finance where it cannot be implemented in other areas by its own.

Given all of the benefits Ethereum provides on top of Bitcoin, it makes me wonder whenever it'll be able to replace the pioneer cryptocurrency within the future? As long as, Ethereum keeps progressing in development and mainstream acceptance, it'll be much closer to Bitcoin every step of the way. What are your thoughts? Huh

Only the future can tell, any coin with great developers and active community can make it on the top of the market, Ethereum has a good chance, it's easy to tell imagine a market without Ethereum smart contract, they will not know that transactions can be in seconds and the fee is very small, Ethereum also attract a lot of people in the Cryptocurrency, not only Bitcoin.

If Ethereum replaces Bitcoin I won't be surprise. Ethereum features looks promising
LOL. Which part of it looks promising? I could even see the upgrade 2.0 as something ordinary that other altcoins have implemented for a long ago and not really an innovation. Also to mention the number of coins premined owned by the developers which is enormous making it vulnerable to dump even by the devs itself. I can't see how ETH could replace bitcoin. Even the mass adoption is still far below bitcoin despite having huge market capitalization.
although Ethereum is the most potential Altcoin among others, it will not be easy to replace bitcoin which has a large market capitalization. still requires a long process to be able to replace bitcoin. not even that easy, chances are that won't happen

I think Ethereum has its place but I doubt very much that it will replace Bitcoin as Bitcoin seems to be the store of wealth and the big institutional investors like to have their main stash in Bitcoin. I do believe though with POS coming Ethereum will gain a larger market share than it enjoys now as people move from other high capped coins that don't give any POS interest. So Ethereum might take away from other coins in the market cap, but I doubt it will overshadow Bitcoin any time soon as it has a large supply.

I strongly agree that Ethereum will replace Bitcoin someday. because many of Altcoin now use Ethereum platforms like ErC-20 ... and this we find from the many altcoins that are launched all the time. but I am still doubtful about the current Ethereum price which is very difficult to rise higher so that it is difficult for ethereum to replace Bitcoin for a price.

In my opinion no, I think that the binance coin has the opportunity to replace ethereum because of the use of many binance coins and the progress of binance coins is very fast every year compared to ethereum, this very slow progress of eth that makes eth unable to replace bitcoin

If that happens, I think people who hold ethereum will benefit greatly from being able to replace bitcoin. But in my personal opinion, this is not possible because in my opinion for a long time bitcoin will remain in the top position and to be able to replace it is not easy and I don't think it will happen. And for me, these two coins will always go together for a long time.

Exactly, besides if Ethereum manages to replace Bitcoin then perhaps it would be good in some cases like Ethereum has less transactional fee so it would be in favor of traders and in terms of speed it is quite good as well. However, just like what others have mentioned it won't take over the place of Bitcoin due to the fact that Bitcoins is still got the highest volume in the market.
