Absolutely, its a nice idea having subdiving your money investing into 3 or 4 coins which $10,000 has a big money to start investing. Do some theoretical research in top 10 coin cryptocurrency market were a lot of potential coins that soon to be a big profitable earner in 2018.
All digital asset in top 10 ranking is best choice, but if you would like to buy 3 or 4 different coins, in my opinion ETH, XLM, NEO, EOS will be has strong demand and massive potential. All those coins was give huge profit for early investor and possible the price will going up again in a few month.

While theoretically you can earn more investing in the risky coins some posters are suggesting in this thread, I would stick to Etherium being in your place. ETH had shown the potential of rising above $1,300 in the mid January and costing now $382 it is a very good buy. Smart contracts will not disappear in the future and although there are coins which some people say are better for building smart contracts on, I believe that even if it is true for now, Ethereum's team of developers will change that in the future. In short, choosing a coin look at the team behind it.

I will advice you to invest your 10000$ in two parts. Like you can go 50% of your capital in bitcoin and Ether because both this coins are trading on very low price and very high chances to go up and they are the king of crypto market. Other 50% capital in good altcoins like Steller, Neo, Cardano and GVT. all this coins have good project and bright future ahead.But before invest, you should research your own about this coins.

Well $10000 is a good capital to start investing in cryptocurrency if you stil believe in bitcoin you will buy a 30 to 50% of your capital then the half % is for good altcoin that will last long like monero and ethereum since the price are too low this is the good opportunity to enter your money in crypto world.
