first you should know the trigger why does the price moving up or down excessively. dont get trapped by the price manipulation from the whales.
if the price movements confirmed as a result of a big news, you can jump into it (whether you buy or sell your asset depend on the news).
trading is just a game of psychology (and money) where whales can bully some people with panic issue.

so far, I am holding all of my altcoins and bitcoin, trade some free money when a good moment has come and I can jump into it.

if the price is going down, all you need to do is wait until the price goes up again.
Because I think you've invested in the right coin so you don't have to worry when the price is falling down.

I usually do is set a stop-loss and when the price reach that specific stoploss i will sell at that price or if i'm in the mood of holding i will just not care about the price and let it grow.
Holding is always there for you and you only need to take care of it. Whenever the price is going up, you must see this and same is when the prices are going down. So things are like this, there is only one thing that can help you in clustering better success and this is only the analyzing skill. Hold and hold until the price just reach to its maximum value and only then you need to sell.

I think the best thing to do is to buy some and hope for its price to pump up,
If you already have some just hold it and wait for your aiming price.
But tired loss hodl for longtime.

Hello. I have a folio of BTC, ETH, NEO and some alts. I've been watching at Bitcoin since 2015 but bought only at this summer (and the last move was quite bad, I bought some BTC for $4600). I try to study, watch vids, read forum and twitters. Chris Dunn has a vid on the topic but nothing really specific. I'm interested in some ideas about what to do when prices are falling.  Sell alts and hold bitcoin? Short? (and if yes, so the next question is how to learn how to short?).

Well now price is already 2.5 X ...Do u still hold it..did u buy the dips Huh... would like to knw what have u been doing in this up/down since ur investment

In my case i just started 6 months ago and have seen 30-40% drop more then 4-5 times ...i bought few dips and invested into alts and lost 80 %  Grin

Then without any additional Fiat to invest and having just 20% of my funds i decided to HOLD and invest 50% of that to an POS coin and stake so i get at least passive income ...

Then buy rest i started to balance my portfolio keeping 50 % in BTC and rest into alts..when alts bleed i buy back those with left BTC and sell that when it rises... I used to sell only those which i bought from extra BTC and i HOLD the initial alt buy for long term..

And again when there is an huge pump sell 25% and HOLD the rest to where ever u can..

The only choice when the price of any coin is falling is just hold the coins and wait for the right time to sell the coins in the market. Sometime we may fail to sell them at right time but don't worry holding is the best option we have when the price is decreasing.

You bought BTC at $4600 and now is a good time to you sell it. you will get $10k profit/coin. that is an amazing amount of money. Or if you trust your coin more, you can continue holding. Their price goes up fast in 2018 certainly.

some time panic sell is good if you are the first one who sell. then you can buy back again to have more coin for your portfolio

Panic sell you will come to know after prices are going down that means you can't be the first one but if you already made some profit then you can book partial profits during this panic sell and keep some. If prices go down then you can buy more otherwise you still got some coins to enjoy your profits. Timing market is a very challenging job that's why if I think coin got a good future I simply hold them and if possible buy more when prices fall.

I try to never sell when the price is falling unless you are at the top of a big pump and it's just started to drop. That leaves buying and holding as the main two options during a drop in price.

If you have some extra fiat that you want to invest, then buying Bitcoins or good altcoins during a price drop is a good strategy. If not then just hold what you have and ride it out. It will eventually rise up again if it's a good investment.

I never try to sell because if you do this, this is called panic selling and it's a bad thing to do in your trading program. This can cause more loss, even more than you will actually make. Instead of this, try to find cheap ones to collect during prices are falling.

Its easy if the price are falling you don't need to sell because you know that bitcoin are goes ups and down. Don't be panic you need to wait again that the price goes up before you sell your holdings. Do buy low sell high that the expression of trader.

First thing first, don't panic, remain calm and think about situation, you're gonna lose nothing if you wait a little bit after price fell, especially on btc. I suggest to hold and not to sell because the price halved, it will rise back.

After few months of being in trading and seen pump and dumps of some altcoins that I have I learned that if prices are dumping it's either you buy more and just HODL it. Remember also to avoid panic selling when price go down.

We don't have to panic if there is a huge price drop that is happening on every tokens that we are holding, if we have extra bitcoin, then we have to buy tokens that is on a dump price and sell it when it PUMPS so that way we could have the profits. Actually this DUMP thingy is an advantage to the Traders, it is an opportunity for them to earn big amount of money through profits.

I don't like watching the prices all the time, they fluctuate too much
That would make you feel relax and that is a good way to treat your investment if you are doing it for long term because the more you look the more you panic when you see some dumps, our emotion could be our enemy in investing if we cannot control it so if you are not really good in day trading you can still invest and do it for long term purpose.

We all that when Bitcoin is increasing most altcoin  also are decreasing, then when bitcoin decrease atlcoins get higher, therefore even those are falling in terms of value it is still profitable in both side. So stay at ease then wait or hold.

I agree. At some point, whether you like it or not, you would have to master the art of waiting. Waiting does not mean you would have to be compelled to hold but to keep calm under pressure. In waiting, you are waiting for the 'right' timing. That timing does not necessarily make you richest but it substantially helps you make a good return on investment in a smaller amount of time. Do not be overwhelmed with the sudden price fluctuations in the market because it will lead you to be impulsive in dealing with your investments. Always keep still and know your grounds under all circumstances.

It may remain calm and optimistic that rising or falling bitcoin prices has become an inseparable system of bitcoin, and if it does not have an immediate need, it may be better to keep bitcoin as a future savings. because I believe the bitcoin price will continue to rise but for now bitcoin is a bit weak because fork effect
