As we are now have good technologies that supports us to search for anything we want, that helps us to get more information and knowledge about the sports so we don't have to rely on books. We can use many materials that help us to improves our skill and knowledge.

It depends on the content and person preference. Videos is indeed easily to be absorbed by viewers but there’s still a lot pf useful knowledge from books that still not converted on videos.

There are lots of information to read online regarding on everything what people need to learn with the sports they interest to bet and if they just read the official site,sports blogs and video reviews made by people with this provably that they might familiarized and have the latest news which provably could help them a lot towards their betting decisions.
Relying on luck won't bring good results and they might just waste their money for betting random things. So for people to have great idea better for these people to find good information about the team and know their situation since this give us more bigger chance to win.
Everything is situational and even though there's no guarantee to gain from the research we have done its still good compare if we just randomly placed our bet on teams out there. Does your friend watch sports? If not then ask your friend to gain knowledge by watching sports.
