Recently, a friend of mine approached me with a question about what he should read about gambling. He read a lot of specialized forums and looked at information on websites, but he was not satisfied. He started betting on sports not so long ago, but began to lose a lot and realized that he had a significant lack of theoretical knowledge. He loves books and believes that only books present knowledge systematically, and not chaotically, as on many websites. But his question stumped me. Although I have read some books on sports betting, poker and other games, I do not know what specifically to advise a beginner. What books would you recommend?
I don't think we need to read a whole lot of books to become a gambler. It's something that just comes in hand from your experience with the lifestyle. Unlike trading where you need to learn some  strategies and even the market it's self. There's nothing much to know about gambling aside from the way to minimize your risk and play with money you can afford to loss. Don't buy into others idea that they will teach you how to gamble the right way, that's where most new gamblers ends up getting scammed playing to the tone of theses scammers. Just take your time to enjoy the games and sign time you will understand how to become better.

Although I have read some books on sports betting, poker and other games, I do not know what specifically to advise a beginner. What books would you recommend?

What kind of books are you looking for op, are you referring to gambling books? Because I don't seem to see any books that can motivate gamblers to play more in the future. Because I know most of the time the people I read are former addicted gamblers who have changed from being addicted to gambling.

But I haven't read any books that give tips for someone who likes to gamble, steps to succeed in the gambling industry. or the so-called gambling motivational books,
it seems like this is what op is saying. Is this what you mean op?
From what the OP said, it seems that he is looking for a book that can allow a gambler to have a better insight in terms of gambling strategies, card game tricks and also methods to increase the chances of winning in sports betting, there are indeed many books and information on the internet that claim to help us in winning both gambling and betting, but I think it is just a completely unfounded theory for us to study,  Because indeed in practice gambling and betting are very different from the theories in books, especially in betting such as sports, in my opinion instead of continuing to look for books about gambling, it is better for us to learn from existing experience and understand the methods and rules of the game so that with strategies and also statistical analysis, it can help us to make wiser decisions when gambling or betting.
Books are outdated but somehow there are still some pieces on which it will really be that still worth to read but we do know into this era on which everything could really be searched online on the things that you do really that want to know and thats why it will really be that something that irrelevant if you do tend to make out some questions in regarding about stuffs on which you can eventually do these things with the slighest flick or point of your hand into your keyboard and then you can simply be able to find out relevant informations on what you have searched up as long you do have that internet. There's nothing about special if we do speak about learning up about everything according to gambling on which simple informations and reading them up will be that already giving out that idea on what it is and on how to deal up with it. Everything will really be that according into someones effort on how they will be finding out relevant informations on which it will really be that something useful or would be adding up into your knowledge.

Somewhere above, I posted a link to several books that supposedly tell about all the intricacies of gambling, about the secrets that will supposedly help to make the right bet. I have not read these books, and I doubt that everything that the authors of such books offer works; otherwise, we would all be millionaires.

But those books that you are talking about when former addicted gamblers talk about their methods of recovery are also unlikely to be able to help someone who has fallen into the clutches of the game. Each case is individual, and reading such books can help one not to become an addicted gambler, provided that the person clearly understands what is being discussed and knows how to wisely manage his funds.

In any case, books about gambling that motivate you to play look to me like dozens of motivational books from millionaires who "made themselves." It is always beautifully written in theory, but in practice, each time tells a different story.

Even if there is a book that can actually  help motivate a gambler or help them make good gambling decisions, I rather stick to advise I get here from gamblers with different  experiences and approach to gamble.  Anf indeed I have learnt alot that has helped me, maybe sticking to forum will help you better than looking for a book which may not have all the information  you need. Beside in a book  you don't have the opportunity  to ask questions its only a one way communication which may not be the best way of learning. No motivation is as great as experience, sometimes sticking to experience is just what we need and not reading a random knowledge.

As the saying goes, experience is the best teacher, but isn't it still possible that the book is taken from the stories of previous gamblers' experiences? Of course, I think it's still very possible, although I also admit that it's just a one-way conversation. In skill-based betting such as sports betting, experience is indeed quite important because it does help to increase the chances of winning, but on the other hand, what we have to remember is that experience is not a guarantee to always be able to win at the end of the game, because after all, gambling is still gambling, even though you have a lot of knowledge, it still won't always lead you to victory every time, so I think that's the biggest reason that limits and various actions that lead to prevention are still something that must be owned and applied by a gambler.

What books would you recommend?
I don't have a personal recommendation of books on gambling. I don't know what feedback your friend has given based on the conversation. If you haven't shared some of the books recommended, then I will share the ones I found on Amazon.

I like reading and I would have read books or articles on the sites that were publishes in this topic, but I doubt that it would help me a lot or even help. I can accept the fact I am not experienced in gambling and dont know on what pay attention or where to focus at. But, I expect all the books and articles are either stories about their experience or only reasoning. I can accept that I search in those books only «do that to win», but I understand that such things does not exist in gambling. I see those books and articles are like «dont be afraid to take a risk. risk and you will either win or lose». No magic strategy or help could be found there.
I've spent over 12 years in gambling and never have I been told that there's a a journal or any form of written material that helps in guiding gamblers. If there's anything os such nature, I'll definitely want to access one so I can pass it to gambling newbies. I think if I had read about gambling before now, I definitely wouldn't have become addicted to gambling in my first few months of gambling. So if there's anyone here who knows about any book that gamblers can read, please recommend

That is what I am saying. A book about gambling will be only a story or life experience, not something that will make gambler a little bit closer to a win. Such books can be either motivational literature to gamble or to take risk when having hesitation. Or a literature what not to do in gambling to avoid addiction or spending more than can afford. But I would call such books as books about personal growth, not about gambling.

I don't suggest to read about gambling but the rules of the games sports or casino or slots, which must be read with at most caution, once understood aim for smaller profits then gradually for higher.

Although I have read some books on sports betting, poker and other games,

Can you recommend a book from those you have read for plebs like us who are willing to learn more about those subjects? I would like to learn more about sports-betting. There are articles everywhere, and there are many topics in BitcoinTalk, but NONE could help me get started.

I don't know if there are any books, especially for sports betting. I don't think anyone should read books to learn more about sports betting. All they should have is knowledge about a specific sport and an idea of the teams. A gambler has to be updated with team news. They should know which players play for which team and whether they are unavailable.

Let's say someone wants to place a bet in the premier league, but they don't know which team is stronger than the others. Do you think strategic knowledge will help them? I don't think so. So, my suggestion is, do not bet for a team that you don't know well.
Every time I bet on a match, the first thing I do is I get to know the teams that will compete, after that I start to do in-depth research on the teams that will meet as material for me to make an analysis of which team can win. Even in some bets, I determine which team I will choose based on the meeting record of the two teams, even though in the latest situation or at that time, statistics show that the team I bet on is not better than its opponent. Sometimes when only relying on theory, we will feel dizzy and it is indeed easier to practice it directly even though previously we did not really understand and asking friends can be a solution.

But what kind of theoretical knowledge are you addressing here when we are discussing sports betting? Yes there might be a few things that can slightly increase the odds of winning, but it is not like there is a holy bible that you can read and then be in profit as if there was a rule set that you only have to follow and all other things fall into place automatically. It remains a luck thing and it usually is a losing activity over a longer period of time no matter what theoretical knowledge you are accumulating.

Maybe what is meant is knowledge about how to properly analyze a number of teams that will compete by looking at the available statistical data and if that is indeed what is meant then yes of course that is how sports betting is but of course I also agree with the idea that skills and knowledge are not something that guarantees victory, it is nothing more than a tool to increase chances but does not guarantee that you will win at that time, in the end luck is still an important factor but skills also help to increase the chances of winning, and well if we talk about other types of games besides skill-based bets such as slot machines then of course there is no way and no knowledge that can influence the results in the game.

And most of the games I learn it directly with practice also with discussions with people who understand more without knowing that I have to read books to find out such theoretical things through reading books.
You are right, in fact it is very similar or analogous when we want to learn everything that is about btc mining, you have to have the machines and you have to be there doing things to understand the problems and their solutions, in the game things are easier to understand, only that Calmness and confidence are what are most needed, we also have to see something that is just as important, the Balance that we are willing to lose, if there are no limits in that sense I think we will be destined to lose a lot of money.

There's no point of reading a book to keep up the gambling habits, like I haven't heard of such and even if it sure exist I think it's just for personal reasons. Cause what I think should be read concerning gambling is a book trying to educate early adopt gamblers to stay far from gambling addictions and thus it'll have alot effect on the individuals.
There will be always the point, reading books always gains useful thing. Even it is a small part of gambling, but reading books may lead someone to avoid addiction or bad habit in gambling. At least, people who read the guide books may have the mindset to gamble in a proper way. They probably won't gamble excessively as the people who don't understand about the nature of gambling.

Well, to educate gamblers is needed. There are too many gamblers who end up with severe losses. If they know the nature of gambling and understand the proper way in gambling, they may avoid such bad cases.

Gambling has nothing to do with reading, if possible those writers make their money steady and the reader will never understand. Gambling is a practical act one can be perfect when playing regular if only they can control their emotions, books provided for addiction is still a waste of time rather gamblers in such situation including newbies should visit a therapist like I stated gambling is more of a physical act. Personally I hardly read books, more difficult reading a book that has no value or guarantee in building my gambling skills.

I can't recommend anything modern from the books on gambling, but I can definitely say that I was greatly influenced by the books on poker that I read when I was just trying to understand how to start winning and what to do for this. I still recommend this book, even though it is old: "Super System" - Doyle Brunson. It's a pity that this legendary poker player passed away, he was always the personification of poker for me. In general, I think that such a book will never become outdated for poker and the very essence of gambling, even though there are now many video tutorials on video platforms.
