I think it's a false correlation. If you look at the "competition" of services that offer ever shorter and more and more moronic videos for the appropriate audience, then naturally you will see a reduction in the focus time. But judging by the Netflix statistics, the series are not becoming less popular (rather the opposite), the duration of feature films is constantly growing (now it is hard to find at least some serious film shorter than two hours). Here we see the opposite trend, right?
As for the fact that modern people very quickly change the focus of attention and move from one to another, a consequence of the fact that in the modern world information flows are fast and endless. This is without a doubt a problem that is slowly getting bigger and no one is giving to it any attention, however it is not only the attention span that is a problem, the ability to memorize new knowledge is also decreasing at an incredible speed, there was a time in which people knew the telephone numbers of all their family members and friends, now many people do not even know their own number, people do not even bother to learn anything because they know that they can get an answer to their questions if they make a Google search, so without a doubt this could make them more prone to some psychological issues and addictions as well.

People have been used to be living in virtual world while we're at the pandemic and this sensation is going to stay I guess forever.
