I don't really remember the exact time but  its price had been 200$ or so. Then I had searched more information and found Satoshi's first posts at here. I knew that something interesting was  happening, but didn't use the chance to get in earlier, after that I just lose interest about this and now I'm here and trying to learn more and more, but still newbie in this.

One thing that kind of drives me crazy is I don't remember exactly when or how I discovered bitcoin.  I know that it was either late 2013 or early 2014, but I can't specifically remember when or how.  I have a few email records from late 2014 which prove that I knew of bitcoin from back then, but they do not provide any clues as to how I discovered it.

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?
i like this topic, the first time i got to know bitcoin was when one of my customers asked me if i accepted Bitcoin payments?  honestly at that time i felt very stupid because i didn't understand what he meant.  i finally self-taught what Bitcoin and Altcoin are on internet, until i found out that not only bitcoin is a decentralized coin, and monero is one of the best privacy coins.

Are you in Crypto yet?  You should be!  I'm thinking of giving Crypto to people for Christmas and that got me thinking.  Crypto would be an excellent way to save for retirement, for a childs college or their well being in general. What could that do for them? This will blow you away! This is simply Buying and Holding, what I've recommended as the easiest way to do it.
Had you invested JUST $100 in any of the top coins a year ago the value of it now will blow your mind!  Take a look
     Coin                    1 yr             5 yrs
Bitcoin (BTC)           $336,          $8052
Ethereum (ETH)      $880,          $44,000
Solana (SOL)           $10,142       NA
Terra (LUNA)           $13,600       NA
Want to know what $1000 would be worth now?  Just add a 0 to the end of it.  It's not uncommon to invest $1000 and in two years it be worth $1 million!
So you see, you could very likely invest a little now for a child or grandchild and they would never have to worry about finances the rest of their lives!

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I remember it like it was yesterday.  I was sitting at work doing research for a book I was writing that at the time I was calling The Race To Debase, about how countries were going to eventually resort to devaluing their currencies at ever increasing rates in an effort to make their debt manageable.  While doing so I discovered an article talking about a new currency that was being used in a new kind of black market.  At the time I thought getting Bitcoin was as close as you could get to investing in the Black Market and when I ran the market cap numbers it seemed to be an intriguing opportunity.  That led me to begin walking down the rabbit hole as I did my DD.  The more I learned, the more I thought that a p2p currency with a built in solution for fighting endless currency depreciation was the answer I had been searching for to combat the world's biggest issue, financial oppression of those in poverty.  This led me to divert my effort from wanting to inform people about currency manipulation to taking action.  Within 2 years I had resigned from my job to begin working full time on cryptocurrency, starting various online shops/organizations, doing interviews with media outlets (including Forbes) and offering services to the crypto community.  Even though I had a lot going on in my life during that period (6/2011-4/2013), the support, talent, and positivity in this community at the time was so overwhelmingly positive, knowledgeable, and supportive, it was crystal clear that Bitcoin would be extremely successful (not so clear now as toxic maximalists ride the wave and lash out at the innovators who created it for them).

I heard about Bitcoin in 2015 I can't remember it specifically and I honestly thought It was another form of scam, because they introduced to us first their altcoin and they said It's a product of Bitcoin as the mother of all Cryptocurrency.

Then went back and became interested in 2016 and that's how I started my journey in crypto space then I found this forum as the most reliable source of information for crypto in general.

Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and for financial gain also. As bitcoin help many users to pay bills also.

Did you even read my post, what does this have to do with the questions I asked?

Again I appreciate everyone's responses here.  I find it really interesting all of the different ways that people discovered bitcoin.  Part of me wonders if I will ever find/come across another technology so groundbreaking in my lifetime.  That's part of the reason it drives me so crazy that I can't remember how I found bitcoin, being that it was such a life changing event.

It was around 2014 that I was reading an article about Bitcoin on a local forum, and I thought this would be impossible. Some time later I read an article about someone who bought a box of pizza with Bitcoin, we all knowing it as Bitcoin Pizza Day later, then I became interested in Bitcoin, and here I am, meeting competent people like all of you, sharing knowledge and making I am a professional Bitcoin activist like now.

It's been almost a year since I first found out about Bitcoin and other cryptos. I know crypto from one of my friends who already knows about crypto and has been involved in it for a long time. He told me a lot about crypto and the many things he was able to fulfill since joining it. That's why I'm interested in participating in cryptocurrency because I need additional income. My friend bhakna taught me and continued to accompany and direct me when I was trading.

It was my uncle who told me about bitcoin. He was talking about how online transactions have made it easier for him to operate his business from anywhere in the world. And then, he started telling us about how bitcoin trading and investments have been filling his pockets, which made me even more interested in bitcoin.
Yes, we're both the same. I also heard it from my cousin way back 2017.. He was resigned from his job because of this what we so-called "digital currency".And it is proven and tested that bitcoin is not a scam like what others think. He started to build his own house and bought a new car. And I think it is a good idea for me to try this kind of job.

Most people here I saw around 2016 and 2017 had already known bitcoin but I didn't see even one of them saying that they are very happy because they are now a millionaire. So meaning to say, most of us here spending our bitcoin and didn't able to hold any of that amount and I think even a small fraction has a big value.

I have known bitcoin back 2015 and but I didn't mind it and after a year it seems it comes very popular in my country and one of my friends started talking about this. I have been doing my research at that time, different platforms that I have found, and one of those is this forum and other exchange and website that has a faucet I which I did not satisfied I purchased some amount on the exchange platform. But unfortunately, I sold all when bitcoin create a new ATH in 2017-2018 I guess. But for me, the past is past and if you have learned something in the past you can apply it now that could be useful in the future.

I was fortunate enough to discover BTC back in 2017 where its price was around ~$2,000ish. Unfortunately, I was not able to take advantage of its price since I almost withdrew most of the BTCs I earned from campaign signatures in order to pay for my educational materials.

While some may have doubts as to its existence, the best time to really discover BTC is when you actually discovered it the first time, whether it be today or the past week. What matters is that once you discover its existence, it is imperative that you purchase some for long-term investment due to its inflationary and volatile nature.

I personally feel the same as everyone else here.
I am a new person who accidentally got to know bitcoin because I only saw a glimpse in the advertisements of several platforms that discussed stocks.
I started following little by little and it turns out that after remembering I've been here for a few years, but knowledge about crypto is still lacking and I'm still looking to make me believe more that this is a pretty good thing to do.
on the other hand a lot of people out there say that being here was a mistake and after I tried it wasn't that bad

It’s good too see so many replies here about how everyone discovered the bitcoin. Most of them are either accidental or through extra income sources reason. Not bad as everyone has some needs to fulfill and they will find the extra income sources like this all the time. Even I also started this when one of my friend introduced me with bitcoin world. The guy was from my country itself who bought me so much of happiness today just because of his one effort to turn myself into cryptonian.

I was looking for an extra income to balance my financial issue. I was sharing my situation to my friend and inquired if there are any online sites offering jobs. He then explained me about earning Bitcoin in bitcointalk.org. I then learnt and went through articles and posts about bitcoin and how I should move about here in this forum. And this is how I came to know about Bitcoin and crypto currencies. I really thank my friend and yes to Satoshi and to this forum. Hats off.

I first read about it in a Vice Motherboard article back in 2011.

Some kid was using his school's computers to mine bitcoin and then selling them for "real money".

Naturally, the first thing I asked myself was "What Is Bitcoin?" and the journey down the rabbit hole began.

I tried to buy some back then but you could only buy them from some place called "MtGOX" in Japan by sending an envelope full of cash or a bank wire. Since I felt that was antithetical to the bitcoin ethos, I ended up not buying any.

It wasn't until 2013 when the economic collapse in Greece pushed the price to like $150 and Bitcoin made news headlines. At that point, I knew that it had staying power so I began looking for ways to buy. I believe my first purchase was like .19 BTC for $20 through BitInstant.

Little did I know at the time but that purchase would change my life forever.
