Yes it is as simple as that that there is absolutely no pleasure in losing something that we have especially like money, but what we have to understand is that this is gambling where you will either win or lose and all of that is always unknowable from the start because gambling is as you said which is full of uncertainties in terms of the results at the end of the session, so simply put if for example you don't want to lose money at all then obviously the only best decision is that you don't gamble at all.

The idea of gambling for entertainment purposes is more advisable when you want to engage in gambling because it is indeed a better approach than you come with the aim of earning while gambling is full of uncertainties that will not lead you to success to actually earn, everything will be less worrying if you come with the right mindset and approach, as you said above where you gamble by only using small bets so that losing is not a big problem for you, and if you or anyone gambles with the intention of earning (outside of entertainment) then obviously I doubt you would gamble with only a small budget, because your goal here is to "multiply" while on the other hand gambling is not for earning due to the fact of uncertainty, this is why gambling is better seen as a place of entertainment if you still want to get involved.

That's a really abstract way to think about gambling because gambling is something that is carried out with the taught that you are going to lose just like you stated it, its a two way actions and you saying that gambling is only fun when people gamble and wins is just saying that gambling is business restricted because I believe that only gamblers that take the act for money making usually have this sort of mentalities.

I think what makes people to see or find spending large sum of money to watch movie as fun, is the same thing that make gambling, which includes losing money as well, as fun.
People have different motives as to why they are gambling, and whatever motive any gambler has, my personal opinion is that, it's still way better to spend money on gambling and lose it, than spend the same money on watching movies, because in gambling, atleast, one had the chances of winning even a bigger amount, where as in watching movies, there is no such possibility or chances.

So, in the nutshell, the fun is actually not in losing money, the fun is in gambling itself.
So, have fun gambling, if you lose and chose to be angry over the lost money, that is completely a personal thing, but atleast, enjoy the game you are playing, or played.

I considered gambling for fun to be the same as going to a bar and spending a few dollars to have a good time, and back then I often did it on the weekends with friends.

I don't think that money spent on gambling is the same as money spent on social activities with friends. You have to have a lot of money for gambling to be fun. Maybe if I had 50 million dollars gambling would be fun for me too. If you don't have money, gambling is not entertainment but an addiction to making money. Most people want to increase their income quickly and gambling is the easiest way to do that. People who gamble most of their savings have only one goal. I think they don't do it for fun because they want to live a better life. But gambling should never be a source of income. What gambling gives you, it takes back when the time comes. The table always wins. I have never thought that losing can be fun.
