If to invest with a capital much for possibly on ignis just because for the short term very suitable and fast earning, which is clearly on the small coins only if you want the results briefly.
If that 500$ is spendable, i guess you need 1 coin of a great project to make it big. For now i can only suggest VLB becuase it is a great project in my opininon because of some reasons like :

If 500 usd is 'all' you're gonna be investing (not that it is a small amount of money, but if you don't have any money already in cryptocurrencies) I would suggest splitting it and investing smaller amounts in multiple ico's and/or alts. Investing in one project is basically putting everything on red.. It can turn out great of course but you'd probably be better off choosing multiple interesting projects and spreading your portfolio.

You could invest in a good ICO and better join a telegram group, if you are in doubt then top 20 in coinmarketcap is a good coin they are more stable than the other altcoins. hope you do some research.
I started with a few ICO's in pre sale but probably put more in than I should rather than as other people have mentioned splitting it up across a few. I would definitely spread your money across a few and try not to be looking at them and checking the prices all day just let them go on and hopefully grow.
Now everything is so low that I think that you will earn money no matter where you start. I would suggest Waltonchain, since he already has a lot of real use cases in the world.
Just pick whatever project you think will take off. If you a car owner, I'd recommend you putting your money in VLB, it will benefit you in more ways then one.
Good choice, it's recommended that even you're not a car owner as VLB is for everyone. Most that doesn't have car will be categorized as a passenger so as a passenger you will have the benefit of having cheaper rides.But still don't invest into something that you are not doing any research. I'll still say that before investing, make sure that you are sure on where your money will be invested.
Its better to invest in btc now...bec. if you look the trends,after series of down price of it,it regains its 10k $ mark and its getting higher..
there are lots of spare places for you to invest. with $ 500 you just choose whether you will invest in the stock or you will try to join the ICO project. both are really profitable if you do it right.
