There are many altcoins out there that you can invest to make good money from it. Bitcoin is the leading cryptocurrencies but if you have a long term investment in your mind I think you should invest in ethereum, lisk, wave and neo.

I believe that now it is necessary to pay attention to the perspective investments in Ethereum. After the BTC, Ethereum remains the second coin of the market, having excellent prospects for further development. The project has a ready product, a good team of developers and an excellent potential for further development.
For me aside from BTC the good long term investment is etherium since it is now the fast growing it is also now good to buy. And i know that etherium will be more valuable in the near future and it is for our future.
Ethereum is the best choice for long-term investment besides Bitcoin. The demand for it is very high because more and more investors adopt its technology as the platform for their projects. I am sure it will increase its value in the nearest future. Good luck 
For me investing for long term period is good for Automotive Mobility Industry because of huge demands of users that has no boundaries for them . For long term investments, I would recommend Ethereum, EOS and neo.Now I think it's a good time to buy.

The worst ones are those that don't even have a product yet and it is taking them forever to release something.
Then there are the ones that just have no development happening, as if the project is frozen in time.
And of course you have tons of copycat coins, either copying eth , monero, or the other big name ones.
The important thing to look for is if the coin solves a real world problem in a practical and realistic way.
Then you need to see if it does it better than similar coins.
Then you need to jump in and get to know the devs and how committed they are to a long term vision.
Can take quite a lot of time.

There are so many potential coins to invest in the crypto market, and all of them have the potential to make a profit, depending on your expertise in analyzing. I personally invest in the top 10 coin coincap coins, like Ethereum and EOS because they have good teams and good concepts. But it is better to do research first before investing and not rely on anyone's opinions or suggestions.The demand for ETH will always be high and there will be a time that it will pump up. You can also try risking for other alts, like NEO EOS MTC. The price dropped for now and it will be pumped up. Check the trend on hitbtc.
The higher the risk, the more the chances of multiplying your investment. Please do some research before investing and always trust your instinct
There are good altcoins that should pick for a long term investment. Neo is one of that good altcoin. But I choose EOS or Ethereum. Because they are growing fast and reliable.
NEO could be a better option.
After BTC there is only ETH
Ripple is good option.
I suppose that ETH is the more preferable way for investing, but its price is not reliable and suitable now. BTC is the leader here because its value is really good and people are sure in its bright future including I and other my friends. I hope that these coins ETH and BTC will be actual and valuable in the future as well.
Investments in ETH will be too profitable as well, its value is still actual and playing on this can be very useful. Not as for BTC of course but for you so much.
if you want a long term in the real world then just choose Gold as an investment. LOL

You can invest in existing Altcoin. Like investing in Ethereum, EOS and Lite coins. Because these coins are very good and become the mainstay of Altcoin. I think it's very useful for you to get a profit other than Bitcoin.
Besides bitcoin, ethereum would be the better option to invest in.
