The best place for you to invest long time beside bitcoin is ethereum. It is the second best coin in the market and undoubtedly the best altcoin so if you are putting your money here you can be sure that your money is in a very good project and the coins you are holding have every potential to do very well in the long run.
If I were to suggest a good coin which will do for long-term investment and long term holding, I would suggest and prefer to choose Ethereum and Ripple due to the fact that these two altcoins are the top two rank altcoins which will definitely gives you more earn and profit.
Ethereum may be a better choice. because Ethereum is the most promising cryptocurrency on the market todey, and it has a good operating team, I think it will have better development in the future and investing in it will be a very good option.
For me investing for long term period is good for Automotive Mobility Industry because of huge demands of users that has no boundaries for them . Im so lucky to find Trustedcars changing the car dealership into innovative mobility provider that offers all inclusive services with reliability , hassle free and more convenient for all users that they are not bound to long term contracts !
Aside for bitcoin ,there are more promising coins which it's more likely on bitcoin has and I choose ethereum which it"s platform has a potential and it was more reliable to buy or invest by great investors. 
ripple and etherum. these two coins are strong altcoins today. if you do not have large capital, then just invest in ripple, and wait until several years, the value will increase even higher.

Beside bitcoin, i think ethereum and top 50 coin/token in market is worth to invest. I am believe many altcoin have good project and worth to hold for long term. NEO and Waves is good coin beside Ethereum

If you want to invest into something that guarantees profit in a long-term, buying land is a very good option. Price of land will never depreciate, it only becomes more expensive with respect to time.

I believe that the good to invest long term instead of bitcoin is ethereum. For me, simply because it was now very popular in cryptocurrency and also have a big potential which can lead to a bright future. Ethereum is good to invest especially when its price decreased a lot it was a good opportunity to buy for it because theres a big chance that every time the market recovers, ethereums price increases big.

I don't know when the next bullrun will start but this time I want to make good profits with low marketcap coins...
I prefer low marketcap coins because as I just wrote in another thread I regret I did not get bought coins like litecoin,vertcoin or viacoin when they were very very low in 2015...today before it's too late I'm continuing to buy ELICOIN...only trade it on Crex24 for now....i think it's a good "lottery ticket" to buy for 50$ or 100$ before it's too late....do your research....

probably this is an old topic and you have already made your choice. to me the top three long run investments would be: ETH, ELA and EOS in this order
I think concentration is more on top coin on CMC from there you can pick top coin for investment there but DYOR before investing in top coin on CMC.
I can recommend you to pay attention to the top-20. There are many good altcoins, which will gain close to January 2019. I love Cardano very much, I am sure that IOTA and Stellar will recover and rise.
I advise you to invest your money in ethereum, eos, stellar. because the coin has good growth. I think investing in that coin can be a good investment choice besides bitcoin.
I believe that for long-term investments you need to choose not expensive but not cheap coins. And you need a very stylish approach to choosing a coin. It must be reliable and more stable. I would advise Litecoin. I consider it the most promising coin.
