A society without internet is so difficult as of now ,but if we're on the old age not knowing about internet i think its also an easy for us ,because nowadays these internet change a lot of things on this world ,it serves as life now .so many people will be bored without internet .people will not know the peoples around the world ,they only know people within their place ,there are no games ,etc . Internet change the way we think. What we saw, heard , and read on can change a lot of things .

Internet now is part of our daily lives many peoples always using it in fact in the morning many people's mind is on the internet what a suddenly a big factor for us that change our lives .

All in all, communication and the transfer on information would be a lot slower, there would be no contact between nations as much as there is now. Also, internet was a strong tool in todays' revolutions such in Egypt.

I agree but a "safe" reply.

As per question.. it would be like you said.
But did he mean "no internet" NOW ..after we are used to having it ?
That is 2 different questions.

If it was taken away now it would be a rather huge problem.
We grow more reliant on it all the time..
Take Bitcoin for example.

Imagine this..
A digital currency that is designed to replace physical FIAT currency that depends on the internet with relies on Electricity and an always on connection 24/7

Does that sound like a smart idea ?

I have said since 2013 lots that there should have been work done to plan for a disaster with Bitcoin.
It is designed to NEED the internet on 24/7 with no back up if the Internet goes down.
Anytime i said that before people would just say it's impossible for the NET to go down.
I always use the same example / scenario i posted on here earlier.. a mass power outage !
That is a realistic potential outcome.
So tell me people how would you use your Bitcoins with no Internet ?
And what if FIAT was abolished and long gone so you can't fall back on it ?

That is just 1 aspect of a no internet possible scenario.
I can imagine all kinds of problems arising..

We need to be more prepared for disaster !

I think it would broadly balance out. There's a lot of benefits and no shortage of downsides too.

It was a slow burn watching it develop as I grew up before it became ubiquitous so I've no idea what it would be like coming into a world with it fully formed. I think it's going to take a while before the full impact on kiddies becomes clear. I personally don't think it's a healthy thing.

well the internet made life, work and communication a lot easier and accessible for most of us. previously people would wait for days to be able to receive letters from their loved ones that are far from them through letters. getting information would require you to do research by reading books and other materials. it takes a lot of effort back in the days when there was not internet yet. although it also has its negative effects such as information is easily accessible for people who are not trying to do good.

Very well said.  There are many good things made by the internet but I would go to the negative side.  Negative things made by the internet is teaching some people to be lazy.  Kids now are so exposed with violence and malicious images.  It is just easy to spread a wrong information about something.  It breaks some relationship and reunite some from the past.

It would be like how it was before you were born kid..
I know many of you were born thinking this is how life is.
But get this..
Humanity managed to function with no Facebook.  Shocked
I know shocking right ?

..people use to write on pieces of paper "+1" and then hand them to each other all the time.

(paper is a thing that old people use to communicate messages)

PS:
Be prepared for No Internet one day too.. it will eventually happen.
Contrary to all you young kids thinking it can not be taken down.

The very concept of trying to replace FIAT with a digital derivative is silly.
Solar Flares or EMP's etc can decimate computers, electrical grids and hard drive etc.
The dependence of EVERY digital currency relying on an always on internet connection
..is pure idiocy.

But what do you expect from gullible naive cocky children that think the internet can not be taken down ?

As NASA has warned us all for decades..
1 good solar flare (as we got before) could wipe out power for months in a region the size of the USA.
The effect of the internet being sever from North America would be crippling beyond comprehension.
I also expect pure anarchy to follow.. Marshal Law would be put in place and mass crime would ensue.
Store shelves would be ransacked and emptied switfly.. probably within month #1 of 3 or 4..
Rioting and mass violence wouidl be a mass epidemic and disease woudl run rampant.
There would be no Police or Garbage collection and no such thing as a refrigerator keeping food stored.
..
Even with power cut in the USA for 3 months it would wind up causing unknown told numbers of deaths.
And the rebuilding of society would take far longer than 3 months..

A key reason is because YOU people think it can never ever happen.. and are NOT prepared in the slightest.
The people that would far the best are the highest order US govt officials.. they HAVE prepared.
They listened to NASA.

We will come back in the past, 20 years ago.
I remember that time since I'm older generation.
We didn't have Internet for communication but we played great games outside, in the streets and had better friends.
Now, most of your friends are virtual and you are to busy with internet and don't have time to go out.
We couldn't order air ticket over Internet but could talk with real human.
We couldn't have Internet banking but our money was more secure.
We didn't have ''big brother'' than as we have now.
Even without Internet we was fine Smiley

A society without internet will cause us not able to communicate with other people who live far from us, we wont know any news or any updated information that happen, and without internet we can only communicate with the people surround us, so internet is an important element for connecting people into a great society

Any information the government can not say. It is hard to verify. The government of any country has a lot to hide. That's all we went through to the early 90's. Now I can not imagine life without the Internet.

Well, we will be back at old age. Children will play old games like "habulan", "tagu-taguan", "tumbang-preso", and etc. Not like now kids are busy in playing games in computer, facebook, twitter and etc. Also teenagers if dont internet in this are not full educated of what is happening now in our country. Unlike now that we have internet we are all updated in news. Peoples also dont have extra income if internet did not invented. Unlike now we can earn through bitcoins. Thats it.

I think it would be a little hard for people who were already treat internet as their life.

In one article I have read before, if we would stay away from being connected to internet, we are always connected to our family and society.  We will know the name of our neighbor.  Children will have more friends in reality and many games to play.  We will have more time to interact and more laughs with our family.  No broken family, no lies, no son to stay on rehab, just a happy relationship.  Children will have the knowledge and patience in studying.  Everything would be like at peace.  Important thing is you always have time for everything.

That makes it sound like life without the internet would be idyllic. But all you have to do is look back some decades ago and you know that is not true. As it wasn't when the same was said of tv. And long before that of books.

Think the internet has also made people nastier in general. It makes me sick to see some of the comments people put on the internet while they hide behind their electronic veil.

Agreed that a lot of people take advantage of anonymity to say and do nasty things. And the internet makes all that easier. But people would still do and say those things if they didn't have the internet. They would do them in other contexts if they could get away with them. Difference is we wouldn't be as aware of it.

It is easier to stalk people (facebook, anyone?) and to ruin someone's life (identity theft, hacking). Most people can't anymore without Internet. Also the most companies and government expect also you have internet at your home. Even schools expect you have Internet at home. Human relations would be better than today without internet.. Absolutely

Your guess?

Well probably somewhat the same as in the 70-80? Maybe the society would evolve the same as it's in the Fallout series. Cheesy

A society without the internet? I think it will be not so nice and it will be hard to research facts and informations. Communications too will be hard because it is easier to use then internet to communicate than a telephone.
That's right. Information will never be exploited and most of them will be keep. I think it is the other way around about communication, it is way better because you can easily communicate with each other and interact with different people.

I heard one theory proposes that with internet. Time now is actually shorter. Well basically on a context.. Nowadays we can get in an instant what 50years now will take years to have. Really good point i have to say.
