I can imagine how sane the world will probably get. People are gradually loosing themselves to the world of Internet. Social skills are diminishing as people only resort to social sites now to share every single details on what their life has turned out to be. It is saddening and bad that even the kids are becoming victims of this world. Internet has helped to achieve a lot most especially quick search for information, but its misuse has turned users into zombies that some can't even breathe or think now without Internet.

Those were the times. I had so many books at home. I remember doing presentations for school and sitting on the floor surrounded by piles of books. I had to use the floor because it was impossible to keep them open on useful fragments all at once on my little desk. Later on, when I had the Internet I sold most of my books apart from stories and fiction, because i could find all useful information online and be able to copy or print it at will.

Ah, the freakin floor. I just lay out my books on my bed but I have to sit on the floor to make my presentation materials on large sheets of paper about as tall as me. Imagine having to do pie charts on that, strings for compass and protractor for the slices.  Grin Now you just give a usb drive to the teacher and he'd just open a projector.

I sold most of my textbooks, they'd be obsolete anyway. Not my other books though, some I tried finding online but can't. They'd be staying with me.

I agree. I've also experienced that time wherein research would really consume almost the whole day reading through books. The internet changed the way we do things in the past decade. Now, a lot of transactions are affected one way or another by the internet. People can sometimes say they can't live without it. In any case the internet changed the lives of this generation and will be a main factor fir the generations to come.

Biggest hurdle that time... hard to research stuff during weekends since school is closed. Going to the public library would require a ride since in my country they're usually only found near city halls. And so that's why I end up begging people to borrow their encyclopedia.

If there's one thing that make me feel glad about the internet, it's that. I'm no longer studying and despite its reputation, I still find my self getting sucked into Wikipedia should I end up in one of their pages. Links, oh those links, help!  Grin

Where would society be? Where it would have been supposed to without the internet.

We would be more sociable. And we wouldn't know what we were missing because we would have never had it.

As someone who has used typewriters in grade-school, I can assure you, a lot of things would be harder to do. For one thing, school research would be harder to do. I remember having to beg a neighbor to use their encyclopedia... Well at least we'd still use word processors. Having to white out errors on typewritten articles is hell.

It's just like the old times, snail mails for communication, researches would be harder than we thought and library will be often used, no communication to family abroad, just thinking about it makes my head hurt but since there is no internet before we can survive without it but having no internet makes us more industrious because in some ways internet makes us lazy i think with or without internet we will still continue to live.

Our society would be like societies before - where people talk to each other face to face, relationships are made personally and life is...yes...hard but manageable. Internet did a lot of good for us, but it severed relations, made making friends harder and so on.

I was (or We were) able to live without internet before...oh well. (Hey, I am not that old!)

I don't think if internet never existed it would be a problem, before the role of internet is to store datas and files, to lessen the hassle on researching and most of all to communicate faster or send transactions anywhere. It is just that due to the changes, the uses also are upgraded, modified and some people also discovered that through internet we could lessen some work to do. If that would be lost i could only say that there would be no choice but to be back at the bottom to where it started. But as what the society does, it always change everyday and we need to adapt or else we would be left behind.
The Internet is a fast data delivery, this is the control of flights and trains, thousands of databases. Before the cops could detain you for several days to check, and now it is done on the spot in just a few seconds. It will be very difficult to live without the Internet.

Although internet has come with its own disadvantages but for me, its the best thing that can happen to humanity because I cannot just imagine myself without it. I can stay indoors for a week just give me power food and most importantly internet. I wont even ask you when you will let me go. The internet is the depository of knowledge where anyone can tap into and I am going to harness such to the fullest.

Well for one thing, countries will be far less connected. It'll take days, even weeks for news to move from one place to the other, unlike now where it's almost instantaneous.

Family members from other countries will feel lonelier more. I remember the time where an aunt's letter would only come every few months or so and calls are far in between because of the expense. Now if I'm not online she'll just text me to go open my Skype.

Many industries would also be almost impossible to work without the internet. BPO for example, wouldn't exist.

In that case, there are some worries we would not have since we wouldnt make things complicated for ourself . Although, it has brought about significant solutions to many challenges and has made much impact in world socialization.

As an individual it would have been better if there was no internet, people would more socialize physically and will be having more time to know about their friends and family but as a society internet has given an unlimited edge to see and understand things which we could never know about.
More pros than cons, so we need it.

There is no guarantee that people will socialize more. If there is no internet, then they will spend time on TV or music. Also, apps such as Facebook and  Instagram has made it possible to interact more with our family and friends, even if they are living in distant locations.
Difficulty in communicating is not the worst what could be the disappearance of the Internet. Now virtually all spheres of human activity has moved to technology using the Internet. Without it would be a disaster.
