Giving just tips are very easy but for me, we need some basic information from OP for this all is better because we have no idea what is going on and what is his strategy because every one is going with his own strategy and specially budget which is very important. If he wanted to go for some long time then he needed to go with very strong community coins because it's better choice. And if he wants to do for some short term than he needs to check few things like which coins are performing in daily basis and weekly basis it's very important for him.

For me, it's better he does some good search by himself and then invest his funds because this is very good way for having good profit and better use case.

Ada is a bad investment because the price is near all-time highs. Coin is still being developed after such a long period and there is no certainty that the project will not need as much time for full-fledged smart contracts.
With such innovations the project is no better than dogecoin.

There are many coins that has good for long term investments just look in the top coins in the market. I don't know why ADA is not the best investment for you, just because ADA can't surpass ETH in the smart contract? I don't think if that is the reason why ADA is not the best investment but I still believe the future of ADA, there will be the time for ADA someday..

Gas is nothing if the purpose is just to hold. Big investors or even those who are buying casually are mostly doing bulk buying to save gas fees. ETH is still the top altcoin despite those high gas fees. The market cap keeps on growing maintaining its status as one of the most traded coins.

There are even properly backed-up speculations that ETH might reach $5,000 soon. It's a good read if you encounter that.

Everyone has an opinion on this, for me, after analysis, i first consider Solana because it is hinged on to some very good projects and because of the NFT on its network, so it's a good indication for me that it is going to be profitable long term. Secondly, i consider BNB because of the successes we have seen and how quickly it has risen to become a coin to look out for. There is still a lot of chance for increment in both their value.

My long-term holding portfolio includes bitcoin and ethereum (two mainstream currencies), bnb, matic, tron ( tokens of three chains that I use more often), and some popular projects such as Solana and Polkadot. I consider all of them to be quite reliable and good in the long run. I am going to hold them for 5+ years and to buy more on drawdowns.

Better stick to your own plan and make choices based on your experience. ADA still looks good and other top 100 altcoins have juice for investing more. Yeah, I also think in general for the long term investment in altcoins it would be no other than Ethereum. The best altcoin for long term investment in my opinion Ethereum is the right choice when compared to ADA although there are also good coins in the crypto space. In general, Ethereum is very much different from Cardano or ADA as you have said although ADA tries to create smart contracts but it is not necessarily as powerful as ETH.

I'm very hopeful about Solana and Polkadot in the future. I see both of these projects as promising after doing a detailed research about them. Solana are the better one between them as its price literally flied in only one year from its first release. It is still even in beta and this is really huge for Solana. After the beta phase ends, I expect much bigger successes from Solana.

At the moment ADA is really not able to surpass ETH in the smart contract field. Ethereum is famous for smart contracts and now it may not be ADA but BSC which will be Ethereum smart contract rival. If ADA creates a smart contract, as you mentioned it is difficult to go beyond the ETH smart contract. But ADA and ETH are altcoins that we can rely on for long-term investments.

The only alternative coin that is going to be difficult to replace from his position is ethereum. But every other alternative coins that we have in the market can easily be replaced by another new alternative coin.
