When people are interested in long-term investments, I always wonder why they don't consider simply buying Bitcoin and waiting for its time to come. I mean, Bitcoin still heavily dominates the market and grows very well. Then there's Ethereum which is obviously also a great choice. It used to grow slower than Bitcoin and it fell lower during 2018, but this time around, it's doing great. After these two, I think that Polkadot is the only one that can get to #3. I don't think anything will suprass Bitcoin or Ethereum, but Polkadot can get right behind them, in my opinion, due to a very impressive team and many resources that it possesses.

These currencies are great for long term investments bitcoin ethereum is the best of bitcoin and altcoin.
Cryptocurrencies for the correction.Located at the top of all currencies although investing in other tokens has bad results investing in this currency will give you better results if you wait a long time.
Not all has bad results.There are tokens that are worth it.
But it's all up to your choice and how you come in properly for the timing because it's not really good at all times but not all of them are in that situation as always.

If you are looking for safe and long term investment, I recommend you stick on the well-established altcoins and has been around in the business for several years already. Very good examples are ETH, LTC, XRP, ADA - my portfolio is packed with these coins. I am also keeping a fair amount of Stakenet's XSN in my bag. An underrated hidden gem which I believe will going to pump real big in the coming months. 
this time for the long term I focus on ETH and BNB. I know they will continue to explode in the future.
some other assets such as COTI, MATIC, and DOT I believe are good for the long term. this year we can see very good market development of some altcoin assets. but mostly there is an increase then quickly immediately corrected again. such assets would be better for short-term trading. because they are moving with BTC and hype in the market.

Tron seems good for the long term to be invested as well. This coin has a long movement but a good development. And it has a very large community, it has a chain that is very supportive of many platforms. And very cheap transaction fees.
Indeed,TRON money does, in fact, have the functionality to run several decentralized applications. It's also a solid buy because of its future potential as a leader in Web 3.0, as well as its reasonable price. 
If it is for a long term investment, I only have three choices:

- Ethereum
- BNB
They are good choices for me because they are top coins, have a good market cap, and also progress. We know also that BNB is the coin from Binance with its multifunction and use case.
So far, I am not really sure that willing to have other coins for the long term, but only for the certain short term in order to take profits at first.

Now I think that it is not the best time to buy ETH, to make more x2 you need to buy NEAR, MATIC. In the long run, they will do much more than x2.
If for the long term, then ETH is still very suitable than others even though the price of ETH has started to rise, because no one knows what the conditions will be in the future, because a very good coin like ETH is still very likely to reach 2X and even more than that. 
Maybe we can look for a coin that has an ecosystem like Ethereum so by holding that coin we can expect a better future for coins like BNB they have the same ecosystem as Ethereum and are currently getting very high prices, especially with Defi and NFT. enter the platform and if the ADA coin does, there is a chance that ADA could get its ATH in the next few years so holding ADA coins now is also very valuable.
You just said SOL will outperform ADA soon. So I guess you already got your desired "best" altcoin for long term investment? If you are looking to play safe, then go for ETH and hold it long term. Rest of the altcoins have their own risk. If you are looking for trending altcoins, then try SOL, ADA, DOT and maybe Algo (Do your own research. Don't invest if you aren't aware of the risks involved).
ADA uses a strange UTXO based system for tracking transactions and an obscure smart contract language. It's not easy for developers, is slow, and not competitive at this stage. I suggest looking into what Celo and NEAR protocol are doing instead. Celo has Ubeswap and NEAR has Ref Finance, both can do way more than 1tps like ADA.

It's right that we shoul avoid more unstable crypto currency as possible because there is a high risk. I want to add matic, ltc in your list. At this time, bnb is my first choice for investment. In my opinion, we can get 5x at the starting of next year if we invest on bnb now.

If you invest for a long time then you need to approach business conservatively. For a long time only Bitcoin and Ethereum showed good results all the others showed themselves worse. I'd rather buy these coins and nothing else.
My suggestion is Solana and Matic. Both are new in blockchain technology but are highly potential to grow. Many new projects are now building on this network. So its demand will be increased many folds in the future. So you can choose these for long term investment.
Considering the long run, I would definitely make an investment into Solana. It is a one-year-old project now but it has gone a long way from its first times to now. We already saw how much Solana price increased. It was at a level below $1 but reached $215 as a peak level so far. This can be seen as really big and I still have big hopes about its future.

I agree with you, therefore in my opinion the best altcoin to invest in the long term is Ethereum, because Ethereum is the most popular altcoin (top 2 in coinmarketcap) and of course that makes Ethereum definitely safe to use as a long term investment, so I believe the price of Ethereum will definitely continue to increase very high and give you a big profits in the future.

In my opinion, I think ETH is the most cryptocurrency to invest in besides Bitcoin. In the future, its development potential is very good, the Ethereum network supports building many applications. There are many new projects developed on the platform of ETH. If comparing ETH with ADA, I will choose ETH. ADA may have future potential but ETH will grow faster
