For me it will be more hard to stop when I am getting succeed it something, than to stop from chasing losses. It will be banal greed that will always push me to continue. I am surprised that people say it is easier to quit when you are winning, as there is often not enough. Cant believe someone will really stop and withdraw, when he has caught luck and winning all the time.

I know that as gamblers, everyone can relate to this question, as we have surely experienced it in real situations.

Suppose our bankroll is $100 and it has already grown to $500, would you quit or continue? Conversely, if with our bankroll, we are down to $10, would you still continue or save the remaining $10? I used specific amounts to make it easier to discuss this situation. I understand that we all gamble with different amounts based on our income, but consider this as an example. You can mention any amount you want based on your personal experience; it doesn't matter.

If you are on such condition on which you are on the winning side then it is really that actually hard if we do speak about quitting on that particular point or simply midway on your gambling session.
On the moment that you are on winning condition then pretty sure you would really be that thinking that you should really be that playing more to make more. This is where most gamblers do end up on losing those winnings all back into the casino on which they do really believe on that they could really be still able to make money or further winnings. Quitting would really be that most likely to happen on the moment that you cant literally be able to play just because you dont have money anymore. Somehow there are some individuals or those gamblers who are wary on such condition on which they would really be able to make some withdrawal and buying up with those winnings on which i could say that this is something that more better or pretty good.

It's much easier to stop when you're winning. Most people have a goal when they start to gamble and they have some ideas of what they'd spend the money on. When they double it, it's already enough for many people, but OP gave an example of going to $500 from $100, so that would make most people quit, or partially quit, withdrawing $400 and leaving the last $100 to check if the luck is still there and they can squeeze out more. IN my case I'd play it safe and withdraw at least $450 and leave $50 for another bet when I'm in the mood.
When you're down to $10 most people will say fuck it, saving $10 won't make losing $90 any easier Wink

Suppose our bankroll is $100 and it has already grown to $500, would you quit or continue?
If my bankroll is $100 and I have been able to grow it to $500, then I am going to take my profit and leave the remaining $100, and then I will start working on how I am going to grow that again. But if I'm honest, it’s easier said than done. Most people will say if they have been able to win such an amount, they will stop gambling, but they won’t really stop, they will want to keep on growing it till some of them lose everything back.

When gambling and winning seriously, it’s always difficult to stop gambling because you will be motivated to keep on gambling because you will want to win more, which is mostly a trap. You might end up losing everything you have won back if you don’t stop gambling at the appropriate time. Don’t be too happy when you are winning because you will be carried away.

I find quitting when losing extremely easy, after all I understand the nature of gambling and probabilities, so I know that if keep gambling during this session chances are that I will keep losing money, so I never had any problems when quitting under those circumstances, however quitting when you are ahead is way more difficult, as at the time you are feeling great and the last thing you want to do is for that feeling to go away, making you to gamble for a period of time longer than what you expected, and which it may allow a casino to recover some of the most it has lost so far to you.

An interesting topic and a similar topic has already been posted here somewhere. I think this is a very individual process, but I’ll tell you about myself. I have a lot more to carry on when I lose money than when I win. Following your example, I will say that when I have 10 dollars left out of 100, it will be much more difficult to stop and save them than when there are 500 left after 100. When I win, I can pause, withdraw some of the money and calmly continue. When I lose, everything happens the other way around

Personally, turning a hundred bucks into five hundred feels like I won the dang lottery.  Heck yeah Id cash out then and there with a big, dumb grin on my face.  That would cover a real nice date night with my girl or a bunch of rounds at the bar with my buddies and  i Im not gonna lie though, it would be real tempting to keep playing and chase more of that sweet winning feeling.  It is smart to quit while Im ahead and feel good about scoring such a major come-up.

Now on the other hand, if I somehow pissed away five hundred bucks and was left with just a sawbuck in my pocket? Well now we got some trouble.  I know all the experts say to just take the loss and walk away at that point.  And they are probably right.  But if Im being honest, Id have a hard time not trying to win back what I lost.  Call it dumb pride or whatever, but it is easier said than done to fold when you are that far in the hole.  Maybe I got a problem heh.  Anyway, chasing losses usually aint too smart, but its tough not to.

I think everything depends on how discipline are you with gambling and smart you are with gambling. The smart ones knows that you can't win continuesly in gambling, there will come a time when you will win like you are the special person in gambling and a time that will come when you will look as if you are the worst person that ever gamble in the world. If you win a game back to back and you noticed you have started losing like two times in row, it's a signal to quit and similarly when you notice the same thing in loss.

When in gambling, my focus is always how to maximize my initial bankroll and reduce anything that will bring loss, so I don't think anyone need to be told when to exit the gambling, only a greedy person will continue to play after winning a lot and doesn't read the warnings and only a careless gambler will continue to play when there is signs that the loss is high losses.

Regarding this question i will answers based on my personal experience while gamble that i personally can says from these situations it's equally hard to be decided because the situation will be very different and when i was in a lucky position and won big usually greed lead me to gamble more because i was curious how much money i can win if i am lucky even so when in a losing position because usually i will be very curious too can reversed my loses although if i was continue to gamble then usually it will end up with lost all of my money but maybe it will be different if sometimes i starting to gamble to targetting the particular profit because if i have already feel like i have reached the target i want then i would stop but it's rare to happend to me targetting any profit while gamble because usually if i want to start gamble then i will try to enjoy the game

The choice most time can be hard to make. Though as a gambler we should be able to make good choices that would help us reduce our risk of losing. Our Choice would determine how far we will win or lose.if for any reason you have made more profit from what you have deposited initially, then you might be wise enough to withdraw. You might consider continuing but you have to make good strategy before going on. You might also stop after making lose. Most time gamblers becomes greedy and may want to keep playing which eventually will lead them to loss.
Quiting gambling when winning is a very hard task for most gamblers and that's also applicable when they're losing. When a gambler is winning, there's this inner belief that strongly tells him to continue gambling because it'll not be easy to get such moment again and when most gamblers are losing, they do have this mindset that they'll bounce back and win huge later which why why for gambler to be successful, he must very disciplined in other not to allow his greedy for more winnings or his resistance to accept the bad days he losses to determine how he makes vital decisions.
Fir me, whenever I'm gambling, I first of all set a target of what amount I can win up to of which I quit immediately I get to my target and I also set a certain target of what amount I can lose at the end of my gambling section of which I also quit if I lose to that benchmark that's been set already.

For me, it is easier to stop when I win. When I win, I usually stop immediately and save the profits I get from the win. Although sometimes there is a desire to continue playing and want to double the win, this is easier to control so that it can be managed. But it is very difficult for me to stop when I lose. Because every time I experience a loss, I am always motivated to return the loss so that it does not become a loss, more like revenge. And unconsciously I do it over and over again so that sometimes it deepens the defeat I experience.

I mean whatever you used to gamble with should be a capped amount and be reminded that you could lose it all. So knowing that I would say it’s easier to stop once you 5 x your money because the rest is gravy. If you’ve got it all the way down to only $10 there’s no way you’re leaving that place without betting the remaining 10 to try and get that shit back lmao

I will quit the game and will not gamble anymore. I will withdraw my profit and leave the rest in my account. It is only the money that you have withdraw that is your wins. If it is still in the casino, you might gamble again and lose all.

If I am also losing, and left with $10, I will quit the game, because who knows if that is not my lucky day. I will gamble with my $10 balance the next time that I want to gamble.
lol! You don't talk like someone that's really into gambling. Do you think it's easy like that? When you win, it always hits you immediately that if you play more, there is a high possibility of winning  and when you're loosing, there is always an urge to keep gambling with the hope of winning more.
That is for people that are greedy and cannot control their emotions. I have been addicted to gambling for 3 years and I was able to overcome my addiction with the help of a gamble expert. I quitted and did not gamble for 5 years before I started gambling again.

If you get carried away with the anxiety of winning, you are lost in the game because you will lose all. Gamble for fun and appreciate every little win that you have in order to be a responsible gambler. However, we are different and have our different reasons why we make some decisions when gambling.

In the context of which is easier to do between stopping when you are in a winning situation and stopping when you are in a losing situation, I think the answer can vary but the point still depends on whether you are an addicted gambler or not, because if you have entered the addiction phase then obviously in any situation, win or lose, the idea of stopping will always be difficult to do, and I will simplify it that an addicted gambler when they manage to win $500 with a capital of $100 then they will continue gambling with the aim of pursuing the amount of $1000.

Or vice versa, when they lose or the amount of capital drops to $10 from the initial $100 then they will most likely stop, but not stop completely but stop when the last amount is exhausted and after that re-deposit some money to catch up with the previous loss.

In my own case I usually only use an amount of no more than $5 in each gambling session if I really want to gamble, and for the problem of winning or losing it is not a problem for me, when the amount increases to at least $20 for example then I usually prefer to cash out, because although the amount may be small for some people but anyway it is a decent amount to enjoy, and vice versa, if it turns out that the amount of $5 runs out then yes usually I close the game and do something else, there is absolutely no thought of chasing losses, I am not interested in doing stupid actions like that.

I'll withdraw the profit and be glad that I did if I am not yet satisfied with my session, then I will use the $100 to continue gamble or leave it and come on my next session

Quote
Conversely, if, with our bankroll, we are down to $10, would you still continue or save the remaining $10?
What's the purpose of retaining the $10 I'll just continue to gamble until I lose it and call it a day, I find it easier to quit when winning because I feel satisfied when I win than when I lose; the purpose of playing for me it to feel satisfied even if I lose if the game turns out to be exciting then it's already rewarding for me.

I always have a plan for the game, if in one or two games I managed to double my balance, I immediately quit and will not continue to try to hit the jackpot. If the game doesn’t go well, I can calmly finish the game with the rest of my balance since the budget of the game was planned in advance for me It won’t be a pity to lose it completely. If you have minimal discipline when playing, then there will be no problems.

Firstly, what quit are we talking about? Quilting like probably after consistent loses one can just decide to withdraw the left funds thereby changing it's purpose or are we referring to just a temporary stop for some time.

Obviously this is for a temporary stop since the value involved is too small for a gamble to quit permanently. No one will quit gambling for real by just winning 500$ or losing 10$ on their bankroll.  Cheesy

For me, Quitting in profit is much easier assuming that the goal is already satisfied and we are already choosing between the two. The real deal is on how you will achieved the 500$ profit before you can bust your bankroll. Anyone who is already at huge profit will surely find easier to quit because you already achieved something while losing only part of your bankroll will just make you motivated to play more in order to recover the lose.

No body quits when things are going I your favor.  Depending on the type of gamble, if your luck is shining and you have won and still winning,  what is best is to withdraw part of the money or 90% of it and continue gambling with the remaining 10%. This is my pattern and it has helped me secure my wins and also maximize the opportunities of good gambling days. On the other hands, I have a limit for bad gambling days and a soon as that limit is triggered,  I will stop for the day. In summary, quitting is easier during losing than when winning is happening.

If we are then talking about permanent stop, then I think that consistent loses can be the reason as to quit gambling other than repeated winnings. If I continue getting those profits and am positive at it then maybe it would even escalate the number of times I visit there because I get something positive in return which is the profits. But, if it is the other way round then being sensible enough I will know that maybe I don't have a better chance with gambling since I keep losing and would restrict myself entirely from it. So I feel it is easier to quit entirely when losing than winning.
