Linux. I have 4 different flavors of it running right now. Windows is too limiting and the software costs too much money.

I personally prefer Windows over Linux. Windows does have much more functionality and programs. Linux on the other hand doesn't have much programs specifically ported for it. The UI is also fairly easy to use. Security wise, Linux would be much more safer but Windows can just be as safe if proper measures are taken.

I use Windows where it just has to work.
  • Laptop: I can't aford to fiddle around just to get things work when I'm on travel. Some free-standing lodges away from popular tourist destinations I visited only have mobile connected internet. The mobile connection is usually etablished with an USB stick which primarily runs on Windows.
  • Gaming.
  • When dealing with work related stuff: I need 100% compatibility with *.docx *.xlsx *.pptx *.vsd files, not 99,9%.

I use Linux where I want confidence and privacy: for personal things.

One of my computers I use Linux, Ubuntu 15.04 and another one of them I use Kali, learning the ropes. Windows is not my cup of tea with all the viruses/trojans etc that are out hunting the users down, to risky for me.

I like ubuntu user interface, clear colors

Terminated.

Have you tried Linux Mint? I also used to have Ubuntu installed, but switched to Mint a few years ago - if nothing else, it seems far less heavy to me.
No. However, I was following up with the update to Linux Mint recently and it looks great. I'm thinking of trying it out when I find the time and the right machine to reinstall.
There is just a lot of maintenance work on them and a lot of files. I'd hate to lose anything of importance.

Linux is safer and it is worth spending the time to learn it.

Which operating system do you use? Windows? Linux? Mac? other?

Currently using windows, i did want to use linx but found it difficult to get going with it.  I plan to come back at a later date and have another go with linux as its safer i'd prefer to use it ideally.

Which operating system do you use? Windows? Linux? Mac? other?

Both Windows and Linux - well, not so much Linux recently, I'm afraid.

I think that there was a similar thread in the past here.
I'm currently using Windows 10 preview, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Ultimate on a couple of systems. All operating systems are 64-bit and some are heavy customized (to increase performance).
I had some Ubuntu system in the past but that wasn't really working out for me.
