Everyone on Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1, you can do a free upgrade legally to Windows 10, until July 2016 I think.

IF you make a backup or image of your old OS, you can just restore it back to your previous version.

Eventually, you will have to upgrade or do a clean install of Windows 10, depending on your work or purpose or whatever.

If you've previously upgraded, your Windows 10 clean install will be free, legally, tied to your computer. (unless you change motherboards or something.)

My equipment cost me $600 for 48 GB of RAM and 16 cores of 3 GHz with AES-NI.... running Windows and Linux (and Android) and some other stuff on it. (Not tried Mac OS-X on it, don't think it's practical to try.)

I could go cheaper and get similar hardware for $300 with 16-24 GB of RAM.

Windows 10 isn't so bad actually. You could get the enterprise version. And kill the forced updates. I've been playing with it for awhile.
