From what I know, before an ICO starts, there is someone rich backing it up. ICO's has its way of finding big sponsors. I believe that about 50% of the sold coins were coming from certain groups or individuals that believed in the project. Although majority of them ended up being a scam, a lot of investors are taking risk because of the earning opportunity it can provide. Also, a lot of investor learned their lesson and never invest on ICO's because of those scams.

What you need to understand is that there will always be people who will invest in ICOs notwithstanding the state of the market. There are varying motivations for investing in ICOs for each individuals. This is why a project will be tagged an obvious scam, yet people will still invest the such projects.

Last year it was easy - you were almost guaranteed to make a nice profit from investing into an ICO. Basically, the only way to lose money was if the developers turned out to be scammers and just took off with the collected funds. Other than that, x5 or more your investment was pretty usual stuff.

Now, on the other hand, times have changed. A lot of ICOs don't even reach their softcap and with this the ICO has pretty much failed. But there still are some nice ICOs and ideas really worth trying to bring into life. People still pick out some better projects that really have the potential to push through and come out as winners Smiley

several times I chatted with people who often invest in the ICO and on average they saw more in the current trend conditions, they didn't really care about clear plans for ICOs who were followed and more interested in ICOs with low hardcap.

they only care about profit and can be sold quickly. Conversely, they are not reactive with ICOs that have large sales targets because in reality, whatever happens will always end with a delay in the distribution-consistency of prices in the exchange market, and other reasons from developers that make investors not patient if they are required to wait long even half a year later.

I know that most of todays traders are here just to make a quick buck, they dont care about the project, or the idea behind the project, they just want "PUUUPM" and "MOOOON". And with all the scam ICO's that we had in the past( my personal favorite BitConneeeeect) people have lost faith in ICO's. But still new ICO's and new ideas are being published every day, I've seen on some projects that i'm following that they reached their soft or hardcap, but what triggers my mind is: Who is investing in those ICO's, what is the one thing that lures the todays investors into investing in a certain project?

Yeah there are tons of new ICOs everyday. I'm also wondering who invests in them. Moooost of them end up decreasing 3x-4x-5x when they listed on exchanges. Waiting for them to be listed on exchanges and investing in them if they can survive seems much more logical to me these days.

After making a lot of mistakes last year, people became smarter, I’m not talking about large investors right now, they always care about their assets, ordinary people now think before investing in a project with a dubious idea.
I will even say that since last year, ordinary people have become an experts in ICO and now they are very careful about investing in new projects. this is the reason why now many campaigns cannot reach a soft cup

It is quite unfortunate sometimes to see a project with good potentials to suffer set back due to the activities of traders. Sometimes, i see the official telegram groups of some ICOs being bombarded with all sort of FUD and sometimes FOMO,  just to pump and dump, which is why sometimes, admin restricts people from talking about trade or discussing on token price on such group.

I also have that question. I think most of investors are private investors or investing organizations. There kind of investors should invest on those projects with more knowledge about those projects. So I believe the projects  that reached softcap or hardcap have huge possibilities to success  on future.

There are still a lot of good projects ongoing in the ICO sector. They attract investment even from the mainstream investors. But then, I am surprised that some of the less promising ICOs are also successful in attracting investment.

I still am investing in ICOs but I sure am very picky.  It's difficult to spot scams now that scammers are getting more sophisticated,  but one project I just bought into is ModernChain.  I checked them out and they are legit,  they have their ICO now and even reached soft cap before ICO.  They also have an MVP on ground.  Seems pretty legit to me.

There are so many people who take part in the ICO project, because they can profit from the success of the ICO project in the crypto market, but due to the many ICO projects that appear every day and some of them are scams, making investors less and making ICO difficult to reach their targets.

Nowadays, do not invest in ICO, because the ICO is risky now, we can lose a lot of capital if we invest in ICO. Besides ICO, there are some scams in the market.

People who continue investing on dip is the people that gain a lot on that feild. Investing ico now a days is really hard and really risky, because there are so many scam ico on the feild and I believe that if we are not really expert on choosing ICO we can maybe fall into a great scam.

Not all people you see here investing just for a quick buck. Yes there are people like that I am sure but the problem lies that there are still long term investors, smart ones.

I personally invest in something for long term if I ever invest in it, I do not expect a quick buck, as long as the development team is active I will be still holding, I won't cash out until I see the development team staying still for a long time, only than I cash out from it.

Now if I see a new ICO with good team and trying to achieve something important for me than I would definitely invest into it and wait for it to mature into something good.

Yeah you said that, there are the same people ho pump and MOOON and than just dump it, you can see that a lot of ICO's now do only a private round and they already hit the hardcap

That is really good question. Even i cant understand that issue. In that market there are too many good coins with incredible low prices.. So i think now i cant see any reason to investing icos and investing that dangerous place for now. In bull we can think about that but now i cant understand.
Then this time is the best time to invest in the crypto, because the market was going down and we can buy more and more coin dude, the bearish market will make ico will be so difficult to attract peculators because they have known that as a high risk potential investment and this bearish trend should be the reason

I totally agree about your opinion about trader, but there is nothing wrong with that, that is what called as trading. So for the main question, "who is investing?", believe it or not there are real investors in there, and there are many of them. I know some of them and most of the times, I ask for their mentoring to decide which ICO should I buy. Most of the time they consider three things before buying an ICO, the first one if the Team, as we know that many ICOs today has fake team, that is the one that we should avoid. The second one is looking at the product, does their product have a real use case to solve real problem in real world. And the last one is the partnership and its validity, if they have such a great partner then there are no doubt we should buy their ICO.
