People get addicted to gambling for many reasons, some people sees gambling as a way income can be generated for them,  and having this mentality they just get addicted believing the more they gamble the more money they will get for themselves and some people also fall being victim to addiction as a result of lack understanding,  especially young people.

The truth is that those who have the mindset gambling is a way of making income will easily get addicted because they do not have the understanding that gambling is unpredicted and a game of luck, they just only believe the more they play the good chances of making money.

Gambling is a lot easier to access now than before. So it is no surprise if more people find themselves gambling. Unfortunately, not a lot of us can be responsible enough to prevent ourselves from falling into deep addiction. This probes the question, who are the most vulnerable to falling into a gambling addiction?

The most vulnerable to gambling addiction are always those who have the wrong mindset of what gambling is, those who think that they can make money from gambling because they believe on what streamers are telling their followers that gambling is easy money with their guides, which are all not true.
Also those people who tend to believe those so called gambling experts that they have find a way to milk casinos, we all know some casinos are employing deceptive marketing, and they are in cohorts with influencers which they pay with bribe money.

I think those with a limited bankroll are the most vulnerable, in as much as gambling was made for everyone there's a category of people that can be affected by this lifestyle negatively especially when it becomes an addiction. As someone who is underpaid and probably works a 9 to 5 job it's not advisable for you to get actively involved in gambling or play as though you are rich. The game is for those with fat pockets, throwing the little income you are making can make you frustrated, broke and also a debtor. The poor and middle class are definitely the most vulnerable.

Adolescence are the most vulnerable due to their eagerness to go financially independent. Especially the set of teenagers with huge pocket money. The extra funds given to them by their parents push them to play excessively hoping on casinos to double or triple it. Additionally, they lack responsible gambling strategies.

Yes I admit that what you said is true about gambling that now more and more people are involved in the activity, accessibility and promotion of gambling that is increasingly easy to find is one of the biggest influences that makes people fall. That is an easy scenario for someone to be exposed to gambling, and related to the question you asked about who is most vulnerable to addiction as far as I know it is people who come to gambling because of the bad financial situation they experience in their lives.

Believe that when someone is experiencing various pressures from financial problems in life, usually they will not hesitate to do anything that can give them money, such as becoming a robber or other things and gambling is included in it, various pressures will cloud someone from a rational point of view in responding to everything they find, meaning when they find an activity that can give them the opportunity to get money like gambling, it is very unlikely for them to find out about the negative side of gambling so that in the end they gamble blindly in order to pursue many wins without being based on any understanding and knowledge regarding what and how gambling really is.

We already know that less privileged people are more prone to getting addicted to gambling with the involvement of financial reward. They are the ones chasing more wins because they actually need the money. The more money they get, the deeper they get into the addiction.
It's a failed theory/assumption (whatsoever) that the best way to be liberated from poverty is by gambling. It's not even an alternative... But for the most part, as long as it yields profit at the end, people will always want to take advantage... First of all, casino houses/online casinos are individual establishments that are made to serve the public and accumulate profits -- whatever triggers your interest in it should also prioritize the sole purpose of the casinos in the first place.. "You don't earn more money by trying out on luck-based games"...

Quote
Adolescents are aged 12-18. The rise of online casinos made way to more kids getting access into gambling. It is said that male adolescents are the ones most recorded to have ended up addicted in gambling. Their addiction is usually associated with sports  and mobile games betting.
55% of gamblers today began their journey from a youthful stage, even before the creation of casino sites... I don't think the sites have done too much harm as anyone would still avoid them casinos even if it's done at their doorstep.
On the other hand, from the little experience I've got over the years in the industry, I feel the younger generations are prone to casino games that doesn't require too much of analytics.

Another demographic that is more likely to get addicted to gambling are adolescents. Adolescents are aged 12-18.
How about the most vulnerable being a combo of the two— a teenager or adolescent that is less fortunate/privileged? I believe that is it because, to me, it would have only involved teenagers, but since I am aware that some teenagers are not less fortunate and still consider gambling with the money their parents have given them in an attempt to earn extra cash for other expenses, it is especially the less fortunate teenagers. A teenager that is less fortunate and exposed to gambling can easily see it as a way to make money. They are even more vulnerable to getting involved with crime.

People who are in early 20s are addicted a lot from I witnessed, they are making money so they don't have to depend on someone and also they are not well aware of the financial responsibility think that gambling is quick money results in potential people to get addicted. And who are alcoholic can also fall into the addiction trap of gambling very quickly since they won't be in the right mind to make responsible decision so they are vulnerable to many kinds of financial issues.

What makes someone to get vulnerable to gambling addiction is because of their desire to look for money through gambling. Rich people may not think like this because they have source of income and which is not small amount of money that they are seeing from the source of income. But less privilege people will think of earning from gambling and get addicted.

Also people that are not working may get addicted. I fall into this category. Thinking I can make money from gambling but I was wrong and I got addicted and lost huge amount of money before I later quit gambling for many months. But I noticed that I did not just quit gambling addiction, I also started working and earn money which also helped a lot.

I'd focus on two group: low-income earners seeking better financial prospects and those looking to fill in void in their life. After experiencing hardship, such as job loss or heartbreak, they face pressure to pay bills within a short timeframe or seek distractions from their struggles.

Some turn to gaming as a mental escape, seeking financial gains to reinvest instead of drinking. They just want to be in a social environment where there's noise, people chat, play, so they can forget their troubles.

This group is not limited to age or income; anyone can have emotional voids. It could be teenagers, low-income earners, or even the wealthy. It's about one's state of mind at the moment.

I can agree with you on this. But when you say less privileged , I understand it to be low income earners. They tend to increase their winning potential by going for multiple bet which is likely to fail than the rich people who would stake single games or very few games like 2-4 games and stand high chance of winning.

Another demographic that is more likely to get addicted to gambling are adolescents. Adolescents are aged 12-18. The rise of online casinos made way to more kids getting access into gambling. In the case of juvenile or young age people, I don't think they are mostly affected expect those that are exposed online and they are very few and aged. As to offline, they are well limited. I hardly see under aged gamblers in my local betting places.

The most vulnerable people to gambling addiction in my own perspective are the poor and frustrated people since most of them have really lost hope for survival emanating from a deprived origin and without proper guidance looking for a way to uplift themselves from poverty and they end up following the wrong path of turning to gambling for survival with the intention that they are on the right path. Furthermore, some of them who turn to gambling are very lazy to work hard and pull themselves out from their poor backgrounds or even peer pressure can direct them in the wrong path of gambling for survival.

Yes, most addicts resort to using substances to service their frustrations from gambling addiction and terrible financial losses they may have incurred from their gambling involvements and the depression that comes from these terrible losses are really enough to invite psychological deformities on the addicts so it is not surprising that the statistics proves that almost 96% of addicts have psychiatric related issues. Those issues likely developed as a result of the aftermath of gambling addiction problems.

from the top of my head without even thinking twice, the people that are most vaulnaurable to becoming gambling addict are those that are somehow financially incapacitated and that are at the same time less busy with work. The simple reason is that when you're not engaged in activities that consume most of your time, you're left at the mercy of doing anything to keep yourself busy and as long as you've chosen gambling as that activity, you're going to fall deeply addicted almost without remedy.

As much as we want to restrict our conversation to gambling,  it's good to point out that anything that's related to addiction has a lot to do with being idle and not having what you're doing to keep yourself really busy. An idle mind Births a lot of possibilities and that's the root cause of gambling addiction. It makes you vaulnaurable and pushes you to go against your set out gambling rules be your an adult, a teenager, a male or a female.

It's true that the most addicted people initially had pre-existing mental conditions, if not their common sense should tell them that they cannot win back their losses as they keep on gambling to recover them back. It's a norm that a hard drug addict will gamble, because he will always love to gamble for profit in order to buy more drugs.

Teens are copy cats, they do whatever they see on tv or on social media without knowing the consequences attached to it. Some of them might want to do it for fun, but along the line, they become addicted they don't have anyone to help them.

As someone who lives in a low middle income country, I'd say that low income earners are the most vulnerable. In my estimation, low income earners are the target of gambling advertising and marketing. The specific type of gambling being sports betting. Casinos are not popular here so it's mostly bet shops online and offline that you find low income earners hanging around.

Another vulnerable group are those who have low education that is, those with high school diploma and lower. In addition to this group we have those who are single, divorced, or separated. Gambling will fill in the vacuum that loneliness has left.

And yet another group are those who are retired.

All these groups I have mentioned are not from any research publications but by simply observing them in my locality.

Lastly, the most vulnerable to falling into a gambling addiction are those already suffering from pre-existing mental conditions. About 4% of people being treated for substance use also have gambling disorder, as do nearly 7% of psychiatric inpatients and up to 7% of people with Parkinson’s disease. An estimated 96% of people with gambling problems have at least one other psychiatric disorder.

I am sharing this to raise awareness so more people are aware whether they fall under these categories I mentioned and may have high chances of becoming a gambling addict. Let’s keep ourselves informed and in check. Not only ourselves but our loved ones as well.
