I think besides bitcoin, the new king next to bitcoin is tezos. It has a very strong developing team, a strong community, and foundation. It will be top 5 at the end of this year and will top 2 in 3 years.
I do not think Tezos can stand by Bitcoin because Tezos is just a normal altcoin and there are not many technological breakthroughs ahead. Personally I would choose ETH because this is a coin that has a huge community and most people have a strong belief in ETH because this is a very influential technology in Cryptocurrency.

there will be no new king, bitcoin will stay the kind even after so many years, it is the main crypto. and the newly develop crypto will stay as altcoin. nothing will change.
This is the truth and the faster people convince themselves of the truth the better their results will be, if people keep thinking that their favorite coin can surpass bitcoin then they are going to keep making mistakes when investing in new coins, but people like to dream big and there is no bigger dream than your favorite coin surpassing bitcoin so I think we are going to keep seeing people thinking their favorite coin can surpass bitcoin despite all the evidence of the opposite. 
this appears natural, wherein previous technology will get replaced with extra current and powerful generation, now BTC and ETH can still lead the sector of cryptocurrency, but who knows who will replace them for the following five years.
